Favorite minor female characters.

Who are your favorite "minor" female characters from the Bond series? By "minor" I am specifically referring to those characters that appear briefly without any major or lasting part in the movie-- they can range from the comparatively un-minor (but amazing) Naomi to that briefly seen but alluring woman who greets Bond and Amnasova from behind the desk when they check into their hotel room. I think my personal favorite has to be Draco's lady-friend Olympe and, of course, Naomi. Another one that springs to mind is Miss Taro from Dr. No-- I never realized until recently how beautiful she is (err, was).

The woman who Bond talks to at the Avis car rental point is rather....nice!

That blonde babe whom Bond met when he checked into the Ocean Club (without a reservation; it's a 'spur of the moment thing') in CR comes to mind...

I love the woman in the PTS to GF. :D If only Bond had more time with her, before he was attacked. :# :))

Martine Beswicke, my friends, should've been offered larger roles in both turns, (FRWL and TB), I could watch her do laundry. ;)

She was at least 18 I think, the fact that she was next to Rog made her look even younger

    So far, all great selections.

However, I noticed all were standard Bond-girls.

How about a tip of the hat to Machine-Gun Granny in GF? IMO, pound-for-pound, the greatest bit character in the series. In less than 20 seconds (maybe less) she establishes herself as one of those gloriously bizarre minor villians in the series that seem to have gone the way of the dinosaur.

(Three Blind Men in DN, Vargas in TB, the Smiler from the LALD-PTS, for example, are perfectly handled, whereas Mr.Kil in DAD, is a lame character.)

We need more memorable bit villians!

So here's to Machine-Gun Granny...the Ernst Stavro Blofeld of Bond minor villians.

Well, her Pan Ho and Naomi make up my favorites. I've always liked Olympe as well though... still my main vote is for Jenny!

Who is Pan Ho? Also, and while I disliked the movie, Miranda Frost almost made DAD worth watching again...

Pan Ho was one of Zorins gang played by the extraordinarily named Papillon Soo Soo (I hope she gave her parents hell for that name)

She didnt do much but hung around with the legendary Jenny Flex (I can see murders happening when this one is kicked off the game) dressed in a riding outfit and occasionally pointing a gun at someone. Her demise was unconvincing as she was washed away down a tunnel and even manages a crap role as she is whooshed away.

Not the greatest actress ie her reading the line "Meester Siinjin Smyythhee..." in a terrible French accent owned by a French person.

Pola Ivanova is a much better character..

My favorites...hmmmm, tough to decide. I love all the girls at Piz Gloria in OHMSS. I also am fond of Plenty O' Toole for her name and her assets. Of course, the Cigar Girl in TND is good on the eyes.

However, my favorite by far is Caroline Munro as Naomi in TSWLM, I still get sad every time her helicopter gets blown up, simply because I don't get to look at her for the rest of the film...ahhh. ;%

Wait, how did she manage a "crap role" as she was washed away? She yelled and screamed and disappeared. I don't know how you screw that up...

Not the greatest actress? She was kind of doing a Chinese accent when she said the "St. John Smythe" line. Also, people should know Ms. Soo Soo uttering the famous line "Me so horny, me love you long time!" in Full Metal Jacket.

Pan Ho was originally going to have a larger role though. She would be managing most of Scarpine's role during the first half of the movie, but they made it shorter... :(

Still she made a mean molotov cocktail! :D

    Hey! She's MINE! ;)

:)) I knew, that you would jump on me for doing this. What I am really missing is a JFF attempt to knight her to a full villanesse or a leading lady.

Or is the minor character status now been officially approved by you? ;)

Virginia Hey as Pushkin's mistress in TLD. Does anybody else remember seeing this film on it's 87 release? I'm sure we got to see a little bit more of her than we normally do of other Bond girls. However the video release and latterly DVD releases seem to be rather coy in that respect. I'm sure she went topless in the original cut. Is my mind playing tricks on me. It was 20 years ago, but I can remember being a 12-year-old and thinking, those are interesting.

    I think you're right, JD.

    Fave miner character? Stacey Sutton.

Well, she's the only one who gets to wear a miner's outfit...

I also think, that she has been seen topless for a second, but I don't find her too much attractive besides the nudity.

I have been a bit older when TLD has been out, so, I stayed pretty calm ;)

Well, her minor character status is what is so alluring and mysterious about her... ;)

Still, it is one of AVTAK's few weaknesses, it's underuse of Ms. Flex. Jenny is a wonderful character and should've been the main villainess, but sadly, it's not so...

Hopefully if there's an AVTAK video game, Ms. Flex will be featured VERY prominently.

And NP, that was good. ;) Still Jenny and Pan Ho's clothes are a bit miner-ish, but Stacey has full-blown miner clothes on so their you go.

For me it's not so much that the movie is loaded with weaknesses, but that it has one very big weakness-- Roger Moore was just too old. Had Pierce Brosnan, or maybe Dalton been in that it might have been my favorite Bond of the 80s.
