It'd be kinda nice to see the main title theme be part of the film itself

I think Fiona Apple has a great sounding voice for a Bond theme. My other choices would be Portishead, Bjork, The Knife (a really freakin'awesome avante garde electronica band from Sweden) or lastly Robi Draco Rosa has a great sexy voice for a Bond song.
I still think Michael Buble would be a perfect choice. I would love to see a big, brassy number that hearkens back to some of the earlier ones. I think he could put a modern, jazzy twist on a classy song.

What about the Yeah Yeah Yeahs? Karen O has a delightfully sexy voice...
I like the idea of Michael Buble doing a Bond song. Admittedly, I'm biased because I'm a fan of Buble and that genre of music, but I really think that it would be great for the QoS theme to be a big band/brassy theme.
But I said in another thread that I want Dame Shirley Bassey to do it ... just for old time's sake. She has one of the most incredible voices I have ever heard, and that doesn't seem to have changed with age.
There's only one Dame Shirley Bassey ....

If the film is going to be as dark as they say it is, you need someone who can write and sing in a "dark" style. When I say dark, I don't mean Goth either. If they don't go the dark route, I'd be happy to see, Coldplay, U2, Bruce Springsteen or Sting sing the main theme, with one of the others mentioned sing the closing song.
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope

I think that Rob Dougan (he did "clubbed to death" from the matrix, also another track on Layer Cake) check out this vid and sound http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMq4akUZr8c
He has a very Orchestral feel, but he can sing as well (very gravely and dark) He would be perfect IMO. However I think Leona L will probably get it, as Amy is just too controversial, although a very good choice
She's worth whatever chaos she brings to the table and you know it. ~ Mark Anthony
I know she's having her problems at the moment, but I think Amy Winehouse would make a great choice, her latest album (oops showing my age now!) I mean CD is excellent. I am sure she could really deliver a wonderful Bond theme.

amy whinehouse was originally penned for the song but cos of her reputation, bosses said no no no. then it was rumoured that leona lewis was going to do it, according to the News of the World newspaper here in the UK it says that bond bosses want winehouse again as long as she keeps her act clean when she leaves rehab.
RAdio One in the UK was again saying Amy had a chance if she stayed clean till April when the decision is made. ANyone taking any bets at this time? As for Rob Duggan - I love his voice but then again if thats the sound they like then maybe Chris Rea would be a good choice ?
The Killers would be awesome...and their name would look rather appropriate in the credits B-)

Amy Winehouse (yes, she again) always reminds me of Tina Turner. And Goldeneye is the last great Bond-song we had. I just hope they make a good choice, 'cuz You Know the Name was really really bad IMO and I don't want another Chris Cornell for QoS.
I agree that Chris Cornell was the wrong choice for CR06.
If the only GOOD thing about CR67 was the music (Dusty Springfield, Burt Bacharach) then the only BAD thing about CR06 was that music: main song and the lack of the James Bond Theme throughout the movie.
I still think that a big diva like Dame Shirley, Tina Turner, Leona Lewis or Mirah Carey should do it. No retro male acts again. Classic Bond song please for QoS. Do other fans agree?

Totally agree, Strangeways. I want an overwhelming song, I want it to be classic Bond, loud, bombastic. Not a pop/rock song...
I agree a melancoly, non-rock, female voice can make a return now. But I don't want one of the "old" divas like Tina Turner or Dame Shirly. I want one of the fresh, but classical ones: Diana Krall, Beyonce (it would be a crime not to use her at some time in the future)or Katie Melua. Amy diamond will be perfect if she cleans up her act.
I have notthing against Dame Shirley Bassey, I love her old Bond title songs. But title songs shouldn't be just a stroll down memory lane. When did Dame Bassey last time have a hit song?
The kids of today don't know her. Or if they do, they know her from the old Bond films. They should do it with the stars of today singing songs that are both classy and contemporary.
We should find the Dame Basseys of today, and let the old gems shine on in the old movies. I'm tired of the people who want to bring back Ken Adam, Shirley Bassey, John Barrey and Sean Connery to do the next one. I do believe I have seen all of them suggested at some point. Doing the same thing over again with the same people, hoping in wain it will be as good as it was fourthy years ago.

Dame Shirley Bassey belongs to the Connery and Moore movies. They reinvented the franchise, so I don't think they will use Bassey again. A stroll down memory lane wouldn't fit into the new Bond from CR. Which not means Chris Cornell was the right choise, though.
Amy Winehouse would be perfect for Bond. Like Bssey before her she has a voice that stands out.
M - "There's only a Quantum of Solace in any act of Revenge. You may find in the end Bond, that the consolation you receive does not live up to the pain."
BOND - "Yes but the pain is mine...and so shall be the solace."
You could use the QOS in the lyrics of the song if not the title itself. They could use Quantum as a repeat phrase; A Quantum of love, a Quantum of hate, a Quantum of revenge you may find...will strike your soul and your mind. In the end you may find that Solace is blind. Revenge may be sweet, but a bitter pill is replete with the pain in your mind. In the end you may find that Solace is blind. That Solace is blind...Solace is blind...(Shirley Bassey Ending).

Works for me- remember her singing "Goldmember?"
Agree. I don't think pop/rock songs have any place as the main title theme for a James Bond movie.
I would definitely like Dame Shirley Bassey to do another one. IMO she is the best.
