Sting wouldn't be a bad choice (he's been rumoured before) but he's not cutting edge these days.
Yeh, you're probably right. Truth be told, although I would love Amy Whinehouse (or a rock group), I'm pretty open when it comes to selecting a singer.
"He’s a man way out there in the blue, riding on a smile and a shoeshine. And when they start not smiling back—that’s an earthquake. and then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you’re finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory." Death of a Salesman
I just saw on www.justjared.com that Beyonce is supposed to do the QOS theme.
Hmmm. . .the most interesting bit of information on that site is this:
"Beyonce is rumored to be in talks with Bond producers about performing a new track written by Amanda Ghost and collaborating with legendary Bond composer John Barry."
To have Barry back in the fold would be wonderful news indeed, but this sounds too good to be true.

Barry is very unlikely, yes. But it would be a crime not to use Beyonce for a bond title song at some point. She is a mix of all the right elements.
John Barry would be awesome, but only if he still 'has it.' I don't think he should be hired simply because he's John Barry or because of his back catalogue. It's like with any other great composer (Morricone for example); if they are still on top of their game, great, but otherwise let them rest in peace and allow another composer or musician to come in and hopefully produce a great score. (Sorry Barbel. )

Beyonce may be in the frame but Amy's not giving up without a fight. Her and Mark Ronson have made up and have apparently finished a song. Its been reported in several papers.
Unfortunately Barry has 'lost it' as far as writing something appropriate for Bond is concerned. He can only do slow tempo stuff now, plus his last film work was for Enigma in 2001.
John Williams is losing it too. The latest Indiana Jones score contains not a single memorable new theme.
I think I might be repeating myself (in this very thread no less), but at this point I suppose the chances of an instrumental (no vocals, a la OHMSS) title song are slim to none?
After her racist tyrade? I think EON would be wise to distance her from the Bond films.
Maybe someone like Michael Buble would be more suited to (what seems to be) the style of QOS?

I just got an CD by the group Coal Chamber. They're more rock or hard rock but there is a couple songs that sound good for a Bond song.:))
Bond: You don't think I enjoyed what we did this evening, do you? What I did tonight was for King and country! You don't think it gave me any pleasure, do you?
Fiona: But of course, I forgot your ego, Mr. Bond. James Bond, who only has to make love to a woman and she starts to hear heavenly choirs singing.
I don't know if this has been mentioned anywhere but the big gossip at the Mobo awards in England is that a member of the band 'White Stripes' (I think they said Jack someone) is the hot favourite to do the theme. This was reported on Radio 5Live from the reporter at the event).
According to a report on MI6 yesterday (monday 16th) it looks like Leona Lewis is going to do it, but until it's actaully announced, I guess it's still rumour!
She's worth whatever chaos she brings to the table and you know it. ~ Mark Anthony

Sorry I only caught a snippet!
) I just discovered the artiste's name is Jack WHITE. Sorry I don't know the band very well!
I suppose it is possible that he is writing the song for Leona Lewis to sing...

Yep, Jack White has been suggested by the members of The Last Shadow Puppets (who should get to do a theme themselves)- one of them reckons he's got the job and the hunt is over.
Also rumoured is Duffy- she didn't deny that she might have sent a song in.

It would be really interesting if Bernard Butler was involved in the QOS song. I've always put him up there with people like Johnny Marr and John Squire. No idea if he could be persuaded (he takes himself fairly seriously if I recall) but looking at Emtiem's link, Butler was mentioned as someone who'd worked with Duffy.
If not, a real class act with gravitas will fit the bill. My vote goes to Kelly Osbourne. |)
Of the rave reviews that Grace Jones has been getting for her recent gig at Meltdown, I've read two, including this from BBC 6Music, suggesting she's perfect for the job...

I was only thinking the other day that PSB would do a great effort!

A diffferent styled singer.

Roger Moore 1927-2017
'Differently styled' in the sense that she'd be the first corpse to record a Bond song?
I think we've had a few of those already...:p

Have to say, her rendition of Storm for the ill-fated The Avengers film was a decent audition.
