Muse ! They'd be perfect. I said Chris Cornell should sing one before Casino Royale even came out ! But I think I'm one of the few who quite liked that song :007)
I would love that (finally something we agree on! ) But with the love hate thing Coldplay have in this country, Eon would have to be very brave indeed.

She'd be a solid choice, but I have my doubts about the story's credibility. Glom this paragraph: "The reason so many stars have been linked to the project is because producers invite artists to submit tracks and they pick their favourite. While some stars are approached directly, others put in their own bid."
I know Paul McCartney did this and Alice Cooper tried to do it. . .but since when have the producers invited anyone and everyone to submit a song? And if so many free agents are submitting their songs, why and how would Mark Ronson still be "working" on the song? Looks like all the news that's print to fit!
I think he would be great, with someone wonderful (?) on vocals.
BTW, although Queen is my favourite aritst, with Freddie dead, I would not want them to perform the song at all, unless they were called something other than Queen.

Since always as far as we know. Blondie, Pulp, St. Etienne, Sheryl Crow etc... who knows which of these were invited or just submitted off their own bat. I'd imagine that Madonna was probably invited as she's big enough not to need to do a Bond theme, but there may well have been others asked to submit along with her; we don't really know.

I love Annie Lennox, that would be fine with me...
I've got it: Duran Duran, featuring Annie Lennox (duet with LeBon...Simon Lebon ), co-written and produced by Mark Ronson...
If they're going to bring in someone from the '80s (or earlier), I'd still prefer Bowie B-)
I tend to think it will be another rocker, instead of a ballad, but who knows? Not me...

I've never been entirely sure who Keys is: I mean I've heard her name a lot but I couldn't think of one of her songs. Does she do much business over this side of the pond?

...err, yes my dear fellow. But I take it you do not listen to Radio 1

Angela McCluskey or Adele would be good choices. They have a gravel quality to their voices which would be ideal for a Bond song.
Anyone doubting McCluskey just needs to listen to Telepopmusik's Love Can Damage Your Health (on which she is vocalist) to see what I mean. There is a Bond song that never was.
I did mention Duffy some pages ago - I think she's a great singer in her own right, but I do think (if true) Eon have gone for a safe version of Winehouse.
Y'know, I'd heard of Duffy but I wasn't sure I'd HEARD her, so I spent a little time on YouTube (turns out I've caught "Mercy" on the radio a few times). Mighty bluesy voice for a white girl! She'd do just fine, but I'm not betting on anyone now. It seems everybody but Weird Al Yankovich has been touted as the favorite to record the song!

Yeah, it's not the first time she's been rumoured- her name was mentioned last month and she didn't deny that she'd submitted a song when she was asked. Could well be her.

Duffy's not bad. I like her better than Winehouse and I think the sound is suitable for QOS. A jazzy/blues sound shall be intersting, something a little different than last time eh?
Here is a bit of an update....quite interesting that Ladbrokes have slashed her odds...could be a sign that she really is doing the theme.
Here's the article:
Quantum of Duffy
(Thursday July 17, 2008 11:22 AM)
Duffy is the new favourite to record the official song for the next James Bond film, 'Quantum Of Solace', according to reports.
The Welsh songbird has apparently been backed by a 'very serious' bet at bookmakers Ladbrokes, prompting them to slash her odds.
The news is supported by a 'source' on the film-set at Pinewood Studios, who told a UK newspaper she has will soundtrack the second Daniel Craig spy vehicle.
In recent months, a host of acts, including Duran Duran, Leona Lewis, Beyonce, Jack White, Alicia Keys and Grace Jones, have been linked with the coveted role.
The original favourites, Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson in a pop dream-team, are now said to have been discounted from the race.

Are you psycic Loeff? Look what's just popped up on the internet today....
http://www.nowmagazine.co.uk/celebrity-news/265736/annie-lennox-to-sing-james-bond-theme-tune/1/
Annie Lennox is the latest singer to be linked with the James Bond theme tune.
The singer, 53, is in competition with Amy Winehouse, 24, The X Factor winner Leona Lewis, 23, and Duran Duran.
It is thought Mark Ronson will produce the chosen track for the next 007 film Quantum Of Solace, due out in October.
...so your wish might just come true!
It's all good stuff -{
I'll guess we'll have a better idea when we find out who is doing it - I think )
