Why is this thread in James Bond chat? ?:)

Because MI5 are spying on MI6. :o With regards to the spoiler above, I am entirely in agreement NP. I actually shouted F-off at the TV when
Ros came back to life. The disgraced Spook being smuggled away by MI5 has been used before, Keeley Hawes in Season 3, Ruth last season, and now Ros. It's a little tired

Still, last night's episode on BBC 3, (which airs next week on BBC1) is much better. Did you see that one NP?

You must have seen it coming, though? All that set-up with the drug, the very long funeral sequence that wouldn't have been there unless... etc. I knew it was going to happen- it wasn't a big shock, but I can understand why you might feel shortchanged. It was a top death (especially Harry's reaction) and that did undermine it rather. Hopefully it means she's coming back- she was too strong a character, and wonderfully played.

Very exciting episode, though. Top stuff.

I saw it coming, but I just did not want them to go through with it. I was like, no don't do it, don't you wake her up Carter!...Damn. :))
  • emtiememtiem SurreyPosts: 5,948MI6 Agent
Yes; I know what you mean- although obviously half of me wanted her to live as I'm nice like that :)
I really do think she'll pop up again, otherwise they just would have wasted her. Norris only left because she was pregnant (did you spot that she hasn't taken her big coat off for the last few episodes? I must say, I think they hid it pretty well, apart from the Roger Moore-style running double in this episode!) so perhaps she'll be lured back.

No, I didn't watch the next one on BBC4. Guess I will next week but it's Scooby Doo stuff.

Agree with j Drake's blacked out post above - it's been done before for Keeley Hawes etc.

But when it happened in front of Harry, it was real then, he knew nothing of it at the time as Adam had ordered it and swapped it in the case for the real thing.

Yeah; but I think this time she actually might come back.

On another board we were totting up the number who've been killed versus those who've disappeared into the night- surprisingly it's about equal (although in Zaf's case we're not sure yet!).

That's the end of this season. I don't think they quite managed too maintain the Iranian storyline over the course of the run. But the first two episodes and the last two were excellent. The team has been hit hard this year. We found out what happened to Zaf, (gutted, he was one of the best Spooks so far), Ros has gone, and it looks like
    Jo is dead

Yes- I was in pieces by the end of that one. Absolutely fantastic, and hideously tense.

The last 10 minutes were unbearable. I hope MI5 get to retaliate in Season 7. They've spent most of this year on the ropes. It would be good to see them have some victories next year.

That guy was ridiculous. It was like he'd wandered in from an episode of the 80's cop show Miami Vice. What was it he said to Carter? "I used to have a monkey like that. Big Cajones." :))

I've put it in spoiler tags so if anyone hasn't seen some of Spooks series 6 I don't spoil anything.
I've really liked the past two episodes and liked most of episode 8, apart from Ros coming back to life. generally quite a good series of Spooks. apart from I never understood why they had to nearly kill Jo three times over the series to have her be killed by Adam at the end of the series. however her personell file on the Spooks website has not been deactivated so she may still be alive. And was just unconcious at the end.

And I do have to clear one thing up. Adam never swapped the Ingections. what he tells Ros that he injected her with was the same drug that he asked malcom for at the begginning. thats why Malcom has the line "But Adam, That could.." if he was asking for a straight poison then he wouldn't say anything like that because he'd know that it was to kill Ros with. in the case of the "fake death drug" the "But Adam, That could.." line would have most likely finished with "..Kill her"

I'm sad Zaff was actually dead. I think it was a bit odd that they didn't confirm he was dead earlier. to me they perposefully left it open and it just annoyed the hell out of me that we waited that long to find out he was dead all along.

One question I have about Zaff's death however is how did he get cured of the biological virus that he was infected with in the first episode? Adam never gave the mercenaries the real cure because he didn't have it yet.

Now finally. My wishlist for Series 7.

    - No more Ros, unless she only turns up to give Adam a way to exit the show.

    - I'd like to say more Adam because I like his character, but Rupert Penry Jones has already said he's only in the first episode or 2.

    - More Harry in the field. becuase his field bit in episode 8 was just good.

    - A litle less of the corrupt American thing that they've been doing. (I'm British, but it does get a little bit much)

    - More Ben Kaplian (The Journalist) as maybe a Zaff replacement but not an Adam Replacement

    - a more agressive Section D

    - No more venezuellan stories about Pet monkeys and **** the size of baseball bats.

    - A Good replacement for Adam as cheif Case officer. but not an exsisting character.

    - a return to the style of the old spooks where the violence was quite shocking comapred to say the last episode of this series where they just spoke about people being torchured but didn't show anything.

    - Rupert Penry Jones to step asside and be considered for the next Bond in a few years time =D

    Completely Blind as a Bat.

There was me watching Spooks this entire series and thinking I have seen the guy who plays the UK's Iranian Ambassdor Darius Bakshi before.

Watching a recent clip of CR realised it was the same guy who played Alex Dimitrious, the guy originally with the Aston the gorgeous girlfriend Solange.

In year's period he seemed to have a bit more padding in Spooks and played a middle aged statesman. whereas he looked quite younger in CR.

Hermoine Norris was interviewed in this weekend's Daily Mail, and discussed
filming scenes with Rupert Penry-Jones for Season 7. So Ros will make an appearance. Hopefully she'll be helping Adam hunt down and kill last season's villians.
  • emtiememtiem SurreyPosts: 5,948MI6 Agent
Yes, I think she's back full time, isn't she? She only left because she was having a baby- not because she wanted to leave. I hope so anyway; she's a great character.
It'll be sad to see Adam go- I'm looking forward to Penry-Jones in the 39 Steps at Christmas, though.

Richard Armitage is Spooks new leading man. Just read an interview with him in one of the Sunday papers.
  • emtiememtiem SurreyPosts: 5,948MI6 Agent
Yes, he was in the Spooks section of the trailer for the new season on BBC One a month or so ago.

Richard Armitage is good, liked his menacing turn in BBC's Robin Hood; thing he will fir right in as a Spook, got the height and the face - if u know what I mean.

(As an aside, I always wondered what it would be like to know of someone who is the same age and born on the same day as you so that u know how different your paths are. well for me it is Rupert Penry-Jones (Adam Carter). when I first saw him in Spooks I thought he looked about 7 years older than he actually was wheras I look about 7 years younger than I actually am.)
  • emtiememtiem SurreyPosts: 5,948MI6 Agent
7 years older? He's in his late thirties, isn't he? I think he looks pretty good. Certainly not significantly older than Matthew Macfadyen, who he replaced in Spooks and who is nearly 5 years his junior.

Yep, we're both 38, same birthdate, but if we stood next to each other he would look about 10 years older than me !

I think RPJ could make a good ruthless Bond, considering some of the thing he has had to do in Spooks over the last 4 years - and he's character had a vunerable side too.

Here is that trailer for season 7. Good to see Harry talking about revenge.

I'm liking the return to the cold war thing that spooks is doing this year. I'm not sure what I think about Ros leading the team but time will tell and I've liked what I've seen so far of Richard Armitage. and Harry killing the Russian FSB guy in cold blood in revenge was really cool

i also think that any of the past or present Spooks Leading Men, Mathew Mcfayden, Rupert Penry Jones and richard Armitage all would be interesting Bond candidates, not that I think they would be considered because they have already played british secret agents.

finally, was anyone moved by Adam's speech in episode 1 of series 7 about the dead that we cannot bury?
Nb. rest in peae Adam Carter

Excellent start to the new series. I think having Ros as team leader is a smart move. It shakes things up a little. Hermoine Norris can certainly deliver a one-liner and she's had some decent put-downs so far. Armitage is fine, though it'll take a bit of time to get used to this show without Penry-Jones.

Spooks is very entertaining, though elements last season were preposterous. They certainly have no shortage of villains to combat. I like Harry a lot.

Just want to say that I am loving this new series of Spooks. This has to be one of the best progams that has ever been on the BBC. It gets better and better! :D

Thought I would bump this thread - as the new series starts on Wednesday.

I missed most of series 7 - but now have the box set, and am now catching up. I really like Lucas North - more that Adam Carter. He was slightly soft round the edges, whereas Lucas has a much harder character. Well I suppose anyone who has spent 7 years being held by the Russians would do that.

Got 2 more episodes to to go - I think it's even better watching the series back to back - you get a sense of real drama. Love Harry, but is Connie as innocent as she seems?

I know you didn't come here to talk politics, Dan, but I just want you to know that I agree with you.

Here in America I have been able to watch Series 1-3 of Spooks (called MI-5 in the U.S.) on public television, and I think it's great. I haven't seen any of the Series since Danny left, but I will make it a point to try to catch up with subsequent episodes.
