Not really as they are both the same thickness - and the thickness is the problem wearing this watch with shirts. For instance the Chronograph version would never fit, however French cuff shirts allow a watch to be worn under the shirt much more easily

disagree - would depend on the circumference of your wrist - mine is not all that big. the 45mm version lugs stick out much more than the 42mm version causing problems - even with a french cuff shirt.
watch thickness is only one measure of how large a watch is actually going to 'wear' on the wrist.
There is no difference in the bezel and date placement between the two watches (not proportionally anyway). Bond wore the 45 MM 29.00.50.91 in Casino Royale - why would he now change to the 42mm 2201.50.00 now??
Au contraire, mon fraire!!! There is most definitely a difference in the bezels of the 42 and 45.5. The 45.5 has more of a sculpted, clam shell like outer edge, whereas the 42 has smaller more numerous "grips" for lack of a better term. Also there is a difference in date placement from the outer edge. The reason for this is they both have exactly the same movement but one is in a larger case so the date on the 45.5 looks farther away from the outer edge. I suggest you check out the Omega website and supersize the images. You'll see immediately what I am refering to. You can also see references to these facts in various watch forums. Then compare those images to the images at the QOS filming and the press conference. It looks like the 42 to me. Again, I prefer the sculpted look of the 45.5 but that bezel CLEARLY is the 42's bezel. Check it out.

Well i'm sticking with the 45mm - we will just have to wait and see mon fraire!
How is that a Bond Seamaster, with the 24 hr clock on the inner surface of the dial?
I guess what they are trying to say is that it is the samething has a Bond semaster with the only exception that it is a GMT.

In the Daniel Craig video soundbite, from the first press conference on Quantum of Solice, he scratches his eyebrow, clearly showing an Omega Seamaster professional
This picture clearly shows Daniel Craig wearing an Omega Planet Ocean 45.5mm (Big Size). Now although this is not an "on set - in costume" pic and could well be Daniel's own watch - it leads me futher to believe Bond will be wearing the same watch from Casino Royale with the metal bracelet.
guys, I know that speculations are great, but I would keep ASP9mm with his word and am waiting for news in April on the occasion of the international watch fair.
If he says, there will be an updated Seamaster Diver black/black, it will be so. Amen :007)

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
From the press conference pictures, are we sure that DC's watch is the 45.5? His personal choice seems to be a 42. The pictures are not close enough to make out the bezel or date window, but perhaps someone with a sharper eye can determine. Unless of course the big PO will make an appearance in QOS afterall along with the new black SMP.

If the PO is making an appearance, Omega UK don't know about it. I remember making the same argument before CR was released and no-one took any notice. I also released the fact that Omega would release a LTD CR PO six months before it was official and no-one believed me then either. Kinda used to it by now {[]

I have a question about the way you say Omega. In CR we here Craig say it Oh-Me-Ga. I always thought it was pronounced Oh-May-Ga. Which is the right way to say it? Sorry if it's a bit off-topic.
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope

Omega pronounces it the same way as Craig in CR. But it is open to interpretation like tomatoes Remember it was a greek letter before it was a watch brand, and is pronounced numerous ways. Raymond Weil is pronounced 'vile', but everyone including Raymond Weil in the UK pronounce it as 'vale' as vile is not a term they want associated with their brand.

Well, in Greek, omega is pronounced oh-ma-hyguh. The 'G' get is not a hard sound, but kind of has a 'Y' sound before the 'guh'. At any rate, in Greek the middle syllable has a long 'A' sound.
By the way, if anyone is interested in the cost of the stainless steel band for their Planet Ocean. The price is $586.00 US. It almost made me poop in the floor. It's a bit over priced for a watch band.
I bought my Planet Ocean from Selfridges in London, and at the time they only had the watch with the stainless band. The salesman was desperate for a sale (it was at the end of the month and he could see the extra commision) that he 'threw' in the black rubber strap in for nothing! He even swapped them over for me there and then.
I did recently change them over, but regreted it and changed them back over again. The watch took on a completely different look and not one that I was keen on!

I wish I had been so lucky. The rubber strap is $485. Hell, I could almost buy a rubber plantation in Belize for that much money.
Your right I didn't like the look of the watch with the stainless strap. For me the black rubber really brings out the black edge of the bezel and the black face. Whilst I found that with the Stainless bracelet the watch just became too silver and didn't have that wow factor that justs pops of your wrist.
I have the 45.5 PO with the rubber strap. I absolutely love it. The strap is a bit to get used to at first, but once it loosens up, it's very very comfortable.
I also have the stainless bracelet, but have never put it on the watch. To me, this is a "utility" watch that you wear when chasing down bombmakers in Madagascar -- get a different watch (smaller) to play cards in Montenegro.

Riskbreaker ... I think you have summed it up well. {[]

Riskbreaker ... right on the money. I agree totally.
If Bond uses a PO with the steel band on QOS, I do not think I will follow suit. I use my PO as a utility watch and my Seamaster as the dress watch.
you can clearly see daniel craig using the omega planet ocean seamaster with steel strap in the pictures taken during the palio shooting
I've also seen an Omega display poster with Craig on it and a close up of him holding the gun with the watch on and its definitely that one, especially seeing how he's a navy man.
Like many serious fans I made my Omega purchase, SMP CoAxial on the back of the movies, specifically CR. Love that scene on the train with Vesper. So happy with the brand that I bought my wife one also, a DeVille two tone with pearl face (absolutely beautiful). One night thinking about the whole brand tie-in issue, I came to the conclusion that the current product placement is taken to extremes. Fleming of course was famous for this but he chose the best product...watch..wine..food..etc for 007. In the spirit of Bond...who enjoys the best but is also essentially a very practical person..no shoelaces..turnback cuffs (early Connery of course)...the whole idea of Bond having 2 watches is just not in the spirit of Bond/Fleming. Just too trendy, like a Swatch for different occassions. I would have thought Bond would choose the watch that best suited his lifestyle, rather than be so fashionable to have one for dress and one for action. What does everyone think about this? I know in todays reality, we as consumers are encouraged to buy more (eg same comic...two or more collectors covers...!) Despite loving the SMP I think the PO 42.5mm is probably THE watch that best suits the Bond lifestyle...stylish, more practical than the SMP (for diving)...fits in with dress occassions...etc...in other words ..one watch for all occassions. I don't think this will happen though..I expect in the 3rd DC instalment..Omega will bring out another Bond watch so we poor sods end up buying a SMP black quartz (GE), SMP blue face auto (rest of Brosnan), SMP CoAxial CR), PO 45mm (CR), SMP black face auto (QoS), PO 42.5mm (QoS?), next one...???
Hi i am new this site but am amazed at how great the site is and the information (help)that is available from all of the senior members.....! its great.....!
thanks for this great site.....!
I agree that the planet ocean watch takes on a different image with the rubber bracelet I own both types of bracelet for my planet ocean.
I find that the rubber strap make the watch look sporty and therefore goes well with the casual look, But with a suit it looks terrible.
the metal bracelet version can be worn with both looks jeans and shirt or with a suit and wonder if that is a factor on why the new film is using the metal bracelet it makes the watch more able to suit all James bonds needs and ends the need for him to have to carry two watches......!.
for an agent with only limited time before an operation and in deed only minimal time to pack the essentials this would make sense....it also means that 007 would get used to reading the dial in the dark and the darkness of underwater situations, without confusing time by getting used to two watch faces.....!
it seems to me that the planet ocean in casino royale was 007's personal choice since he was just given 00 status and the fact he wore the seamaster watch from then onward could be explained that he was issued with this watch a little later on with the rest of his equipment ......!{[]

That sounds pretty expensive to me!
The rubber strap for the PO costs here EUR 145,-- which is a bit over US$ 210,--, including the steel buckle.
