I've started up a thread im Mem and Collecting as the discussion on the limited edition belongs more there than here, so please pop down there to discuss. We can continue this thread on the speculation of the regular versions use and the apearance of the 42mm Planet Ocean.
Personally I doubt they'll put all 3 watches in the movie...it doesn't make alot of sense. In Casino Royale it made sense in that the PO was more a casual, sporty watch, and he wore the blue one in more formal occasions - but also after he became a 00. I could see the black seamaster replacing the blue one, but I feel the black SMP and PO are just too close to warrant having both? On top of those two watches, adding the blue one in just seems like total overkill.
Unless they have some sort of flashback scene where bond was wearing a blue SMP before QOS takes place?

If the QOS takes place directly where CR left off, then he will still be wearing the blue SMP, so it has to be in the film even though we may not see it in detail.
I am still am not convinced on this and have to go with what everyone said prior in regards to the PO. Though it seems odd to go from PO to Omega Bond in CR and somehow go back to it again in QOS and the fact you would expect a new 007 watch like the pic displayed above. Every conceivable close-up pic on set so far clearly shows a PO. How can we tell? One classic sign is the time markers which are rectangular not circular like above, then there is the shape and size of the screw in crown and strap - all very different from the one above.
That's my hunch although for all we know at the mo - there maybe 2!

He has indeed been wearing a PO so far in filming. But why would Omega sell a Ltd Edition 007 SMP if it is not going to be used by 007?
im not sure but i would think the new SMP pictured would only be for collecting purposes, right? It wouldnt make much sense to have the watch pictured above used in the actual film (what with the '007' counterweight on the seconds hand).
Are we expecting a 'regular' version of this new model to be used in the film (similar to the set-up they had with the 'regular' blue SMP used in the films and then seperate collector pieces that have 007 branding on them)??
And for that matter will there be a regular version with the black face and no 007 at all. Not as a limited edition, but as a regular offering from Omega. As much as I love Bond, I don't think I'd want a $5000 movie advertisement on my wrist.

Yes, there will be a regular version without the OO7 on the hands, and no, obviously the one pictured won't be used in the film. That'd be daft.
Well, I have seen it now, thanks ASP. For me, I think it just looks too much like the blue one. If they use a SMP in QoS and it is a standard black version I will think it is silly. I can't think of a good reason why if you were wearing a blue one all of the sudden you go "Oh, I need this exact watch I am wearing in black, post haste." besides the blue SMP from CR is a new co-axial model. I could conceive of switching from the old model to the co-axial model because it wouldn't have to be serviced as often. That is a bit sketchy reasoning, at that.
That said, if they do use the black SMP in Qos I doubt I will buy one. Maybe I'll just buy a replica. {:)

i actually have the older version (pre co-axial) and i would consider 'upgrading' to the newer model (from a servicing standpoint, as you mention, but also the subtle aesthetic differences that are more than subtle to my anal mind)...if i did this upgrade, i would be quite tempted to go with the black instead of blue...although, one of the things i always liked about the blue dial was its differentiation from a rolex sub. maybe i still need to consider the blue vs black choice more:)
tough choice there (i.e. sub vs daytona) but clearly nobody could possibly fault your choice! if you dont mind my asking, is it the holy grail of daytonas?

Had my Daytona for 3 years now and I've only worn it once. I'd sell it but I value my tackle
So there will also be a nomral version (without the 007 weight balance at the end of the second hand). This is good news. However if you have the Blue SMP like me, i can't see the point of getting the black one. Do we really think James Bond will wear this one?

I think I'll keep my blue SMP. Both the PO and the Submariner do black better.
