Related to the Mr. White's Organization thread, one the of things I liked most about Casino Royale was that Le Chifre and Mr. White were part of something much bigger than themselves - they were just the middle men. Could SPECTRE be behind everything in Craig’s first outing and in Bond 22 could we get to see a dramatic reveal of this sinister crime syndicate that once served a integral role in Bond lore? Or is Kevin McClory going to f+@* things up from beyond the grave?
But it doesn’t really matter if Blofeld or Dr. No don’t return, since those two 1960s villains would seem out of place in the 21st century and they’ve been heavily parodied (Mike Myers, I’m looking at you). But the SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion itself still has a place in the 21st century and seems vastly superior to the mostly bland, derivative Bond villains that we had in the last twenty five years, but I wouldn’t mind if we had a original yet similar criminal/business cabal introduced instead, if SPECTRE cannot be returned.

I do think a similar organization could be the case, however. But they wouldn't last as long as the original, I think
