Could one of the organizers perhaps give us a list of points on which to compare the two versions of the shirt? The big one I'm seeing is that Magnioli's is cotton and the privately commissioned one is silk, is that correct, or am I way off? Getting through 57 pages of thread is going to be tough.

I plan on sticking with my commitment to the commissioned project, but a side by side list of how the versions differ might help some folks decide.

I would like to see that too before I commit.

problem may be, that Paul will not be willing to purchase a Magnoli shirt for comparison purposes and no Magnoli buyer has a real finished shirt from Paul.

    Good point.

The original fabric is 100% cotton also, just much softer and finer than most other cotton fabrics.

I'm still on board for the real deal.

As far as the Judas comment is concerned, I hope that wasn't directed at me. Paul's hints sometimes go over my head I must admit.

Once again, thanks for the support guys...

I've been on the fone to the shirtmaker this afternoon...they are unsurprisingly hopping mad, and I tried to calm them down. It's expensive to sue using international copyright law.

As I explained, we're going ahead, I plan to pick up the shirts made for Simon et al, next week. I'll put pics on the thread once I have them.

I'll be contacting each of you with details on how to pay, and the batch of measurements have already been fed to the shirtmaker to get on with it...

Re: comparisons, I'm sorry but I don't intend to bother...those who want to buy the copy can go ahead. But after all the "finessing" if our version isn't the final object, then I give up!.

    Cheers paul

By comparison, I just meant a list of features as promoted by each maker - I can read Magnoli's off their site; I wasn't sure where the corresponding info for the commissioned shirt lived.

I noticed this evening that Magnoli's Madagascar shirt is no longer on his website. I don't know what was behind the removal. Perhaps he has chosen to make the changes necessary to make it closer to the original...OR...perhaps a legal shot has been fired across someone's bow regarding the print design.

His Casino Royale tuxedo shirt does not come in the exact material pattern made by T&A.

Like I said, I don't know what the story is but maybe Paul's project just got exclusive again.

There is some powerful people behind the shirt pattern, including EON. This is why the whole project had to be handled tactfully and certain parts of it remain anonymous. What Paul and Simon pulled off for us was a major coup unheard of in the Bond collecting world unless you were a very very large and reputable company. I doubt we will ever see the like of that again.

International copyright is something that at least one of the parties involved would take extremely seriously indeed.

I made enquiries yesterday with Magnoli after reading the thread regarding their shirt, to find out whether the plackard would line up on final versions (as I had already had to pull out of buying the official one earlier in the year and wasn't sure whether I could still jump back in at this late stage)

They have emailed me back overnight to say that it will not be available for another month.

Just out of curiosity, is Paul's shirt endorsed by EON Productions?
  • InkedInked Posts: 61MI6 Agent
I don't think so, when I put official I meant from the correct fabric and by the original tailors
  • Asp9mmAsp9mm Over the Hills and Far Away.Posts: 7,541MI6 Agent
It is not endorsed by Eon, but neither has it been stopped, mainly due to the way Simon and Paul have carried themselves with respect to all party's involved in the original. Hence why you will not see any cheap knock offs using the original material, which could have so easily have been done.

It's dedication like this, and considerable financial outlay, that deserves to be backed 100 %.
I'll be sticking with my promise to buy a shirt off these gentlemen - it's the very least I can do.

Glad to see things are back on track with this and the patience of many will soon be rewarded. The best things are worth doing right and well. And if the best in quality can be had it is worth having. Knowing the 'behind the curtain work' that Simon and Paul have gone through I am delighted to see so many people support this effort. {[]

I have been, and continue to be happy to wait patiently for this, it is quite clearly a labour of love and not exactly coming from a business/shop.

Please let me know when payment will be required, I have not been contacted yet so have sent nothing except for measurements.

The effort, time and money you gents have put into this endeavor is staggering. Chapeau bas indeed!

    -{ Cheers to all

Is it too late to put my name in for one of these shirts? (again - I had to pull out earlier in the year due to a house move)
  • InkedInked Posts: 61MI6 Agent
Just wanted to say thanks to Paul and Simon for letting me back in on the shirt so late in the game.

    I'm in for a screen matched $340.

Thanks again for all the hard work guys

For those that have been watching this thread this is a VERY big day. Paul is taking the time out from his day to assure the first shirts out of the gate meet to his high expectations. I for one can't wait as the light at the end of the tunnel is a bright sunny day!

I hope he makes the most of it, it'll probably be the last day off he sees before Christmas. Cheers Paul {[]

Jesus, Jonathan, are you following Bob Cratchett here around with a bonfire so he can chuck himself on it to complete his act of martydom?

Quite easy to be rude isn't it. I'll refrain.

    Back to the shirt...

I picked up the latest shirts, and this is how they look (please no criticism ASP9mm, my box brownee wasn't working so i used the wife's...)

As you can see, the back yolk is near perfectly matched, and the front pocket is really hard to see (ie it's well matched...) :o

    Hope this will reassure everyone....

I'm told the other 25 shirts will be ready in abt 10 days...

BTW, we've now confirmed that DC-sized shirts will be available, and a few of you have already ordered one to go with your own size. This will be honoured.

If anyone else wants to order one, just let Simon know (Sruzgar) via PM.

Now there is the little subject of postage and delivery.

For those in the USA we'll most likely bulk send the shirts to Simon and he can post them domestically.

Same in the UK,...I'll post them registered to ensure their safe arrival...should be around gbp3.

I'll be calling for final payment soon, now we're close to being able to deliver.
