No wonder so many are joining this operation - the fabric looks absolutely exactly original and the shirt will be so unique.

    How many are we now?

How long will you wait until the "final calculation" of the price will be done? (No hurry intended, the more the merrier, I am just curious.)

Do I understand that right: When the final price is presented, then everyone who wants a shirt has to send the money and his measurements?

    Hi there

If it is original I'd be happy to pay the funds. So count me in.

    hi guys

sorry been preparing for work-related stuff...

besides I wanted to give the pics of the material enough "airing" to be sure everyone would be happy..

    a couple of updates;

    1) the order for the material is being processed, and the eta is around begining Feb (yes, the delays pre-xmas really put this project back!)

    2) the price was always indicative....it depended upon how many shirts we could definitely go for... In the end I and one other have opted to buy the material ourselves and hope enough want a shirt...yes there will be enormous amounts of material left, but to ensure exclusivity it'll be locked away or maybe destroyed (I havn't given this much thought).

    3) the big selling point of owning one of these shirts is that it's a perfect match for the material (now discontinued unless someone wants to buy thousands of metres) and made by the very maker of the original.

    4) yes, once we're ready (ie as the material is being delivered) we'll set a price and canvass final orders and gather measurements.

    5) I suspect we'll only do one run. anyone in doubt, prepare to miss out as my old mum used to say..

    6) we'll probably do framed swatches of 6 inch squares, perhaps with a photo.

promise to keep everyone informed, but it could go quiet for a couple of weeks..

    Paul

Do you have an estimate of how many people are interested, including those that have indicated that they would be in at certain price ranges?

I am in for at least 1 depending on the price break. Should it drop to $100, count me in for more. Many thanks and respect to ke02eww, SRuzgar, asp9mm and mantis for all their hard work not only on this endevour but other contributions to this forum.

Any indication yet of price? The lower it is, the more I'll buy (up to 2)... :)
  • hoshihoshi Perth, AustraliaPosts: 27MI6 Agent
Apologies for the late contribution here, I've been overseas. Definitely count me in for one at $200, and another if the price point lowers. Thanks so much to everyone who has been putting in the hard yards on this project - much appreciated.

I'm completely psyched for this shirt! I am pretty sure I am in for two; one to keep as a collectors item, and one to wear.

This is inspiring me to keep going to the gym to get the impressive arms to go with the shirt! :007)

    Hi all,

Just found the site and registered as quick as I could!

Looks like some great work has been going on to get this fantastic shirt made. I would really love to own one, but I can only really push to $150 - I have far too many commitments at the moment to justify the cash. So if the price does drop down to 'around' the $150 mark, then please DEFINITELY count me in!! If it doesn't, then for those who do get them ... enjoy you lucky agents!

Just to double check, I'm still in for atleast one, possibly two.

    UPDATE:
ok we're getting close, and it's come to decision time.
Firstly, Simon has done some sterling work getting the cost of the manufacture down a little.
Secondly, the material should be ready any day now.
    Finally, we've decided on a price;

    $300 per shirt.

I'm sorry if that's too much for some, and I quite understand. But anything lower and we'd have to make the run just too large to call it "Exclusive".
However, at this level, I anticipate we'll be able to do at least 40-45 shirts, based upon the commitments I've read on this thread.
Once these are completed, I'll put it to those who purchased a shirt, whether we should do another run at a slight discount, say $230, for those members of this site who have made clear their commitment at the lower price.
If enough purchasers say no, then no further shirts will be offered this year. That way, there can be no guarantee to get a shirt at the lower price, protecting those who "paid up", and preventing "free riding".
Clearly, those who can afford the $300 per shirt should opt for one now. There is no guarantee there will ever be any more.

However, if we get a lot more commitments than 50, then we'll consider making the discount now.

Finally, we'll do 6 inch swatches in a frame at some stage in the future. To be honest, it's going to be a headache fielding eveyone's cash, measurements, and of course shirts. I'm thinking of employing out of work students to help (yes DG that's a joke!...this is not a commercial enterprise!).
Also, I doubt we'll sell these through any other site. I only embarked on this on behalf of those who frequent this site. Anyone else should have heard about it by now and joined.

Finally there's EBAY......I'm thinking of making it a condition of sale, that everyone signs a declaration of intent to own the shirt. Should they want to sell it on ebay, they will have to seek our approval. Clearly if someone needs the money badly I'd understand. But I don't think it's in the right spirit to buy a couple and bung one on ebay to try to recoup their outlay.
HOW DOES EVERYONE FEEL ABOUT THIS?... :s

Since you're thinking of doing a second less expensive run, how would you feel about the people on the first run getting a second shirt at the same time as the first for a reduced price. I'd like to have one to wear and one to display.

Also, do you know DC's sizes? I'd like to know if one in his size would fit.

Also, was there a decision about whether purchasers would be able to get extra fabric for say, a wife's dress?
  • sruzgarsruzgar Welcome to ScotlandPosts: 1,468MI6 Agent
Having been heavily involved in this project I can tell you that $300 is a fantastic price and doesn't even cover the costs. As Paul mentioned beofre there is absolutley no profit from this venture and it is going to be a bit of a logistical nightmare getting everyones cash and measurements.

I will have a chat with Paul we may be able to do the second shirt ata reduced price for those that want two.

I already asked the people making the shirt about DC's measurements and the thought that was a little strange but I will have another go.

I don't think we would sell any raw material to anyone so that you can make other garments - sorry!

I am in for one at $300, lets see if the number can come down - thank you for all your efforts - lets make it happen!

Also like the idea about it being exclusive and one time run.

As Srutzgar said above, we don't want immitations appearing on ebay such that our shirt maker gets upset. Only way to ensure this is to constrain the amout of loose material around. We're considering allowing each completed shirt buyer to have a shirts-worth of raw material too....but only enough for one.

That was my reason for thinking a bit of material would be available to shirt buyers. There was also a post a few pages back about a dress being made but that was, as I understand now having read it again, by the manufacturer. The two things taken together, I thought the small amount of material would be available. Apologies, my mistake. I still look forward to getting this. Thanks for your hard work.
