The Last Bond Film: FYEO

Apparently (according to Bondpedia) FYEO was to be the last Bond film. This seems to make sense because of the down to earth style. Tracy's grave and (Supposedly) Blofeld's disposal. Stiill, I'm glad it didn't end there and then, otherwise I wouldn't be posting here today. What do you think about this, do any of you think it would've been a good idea?

This is total and utter BS. Internet information = unreliable information.

    B. S. is right--FYEO was actually planned to be the first film for a new Bond actor (the sequence at Tracy's grave was to establish a sense of continuity), there's nothing in the storyline to indicate an end of things (it's handled as simply another mission, and a down-to-earth one to boot), and it ends with the promise that Bond will return in Octopussy. But if it had been the last film in the series, preventing certain people from joining AJB, well, that's fun to contemplate. . .

"MR is the BEST Bond film of ALL TIME!"

    "You're cracked, it's DAF!"

"Lazenby is a god, you're all fools!"

    "GLNB.com, Connery is king!"

"Anyone else get kinda, I dunno, bored by TB...?"

    "Bond died with Rosie Carter."

"Chris Lee would totally beat Wiseman in a mud wrestling match."

I can see things being the same, HB. ;)

It may come from a Terence Young quote. He says he was asked back to direct that one. He said he would, so long as it was the last Bond film. EON said yeah, yeah, it will be the last. Just do it.

Then Young says he stipulated that should it not be the last, then a good share of the profits of future Bonds should go to the Red Cross. After that the producers suddenly and mysteriously lost interest in trying to get Young back in the director's chair...

That is interesting, as I couldnt imagine them hiring back Young then. He was 20 years older than when he did Dr No, and something tells me he wouldnt have been right to be doing such a movie then.

As for Bond ending - always going t be rubbish. As long as there is an audience out there wanting more Bond, there will be more Bond. He survived running out of Fleming material, fall of communism, illegal downloads and studio collapses. James Bond is not Bourne, there is no end waiting at the end of the 3rd movie.

Well from what I know is that FYEO was not to be the last but after making MR the hole Bond family wanted to make a more down to earth Bond. That's why there are no gadgets in FYEO. The conection to Tracy was to remind people that Bond was normal with feeling and everything.
Bond: You don't think I enjoyed what we did this evening, do you? What I did tonight was for King and country! You don't think it gave me any pleasure, do you?
Fiona: But of course, I forgot your ego, Mr. Bond. James Bond, who only has to make love to a woman and she starts to hear heavenly choirs singing.

Thank God he didn't do it, otherwise we would never have INCHON!.

Obviously the last bond film that is at least known of is Quantum Solace, but the last "true" bond film can possibly be The Living Daylights, as (until Casino Royale in 2006) was the final bond film taken from one of Ian Fleming's novels. The bond films to follow it, Licence to Kill, Goldeneye, TND, and TWINE, were not Fleming novels.

I would rather say, that thes TLD was the last movie with a Fleming TITLE.
But that's also incorrect as CR is a Fleming novel and the movie contains important elements from the novel, which has not been the case with the 007 movies for decades.
