Trading cards?

I nipped into my local newsie and they had what seemed "Issue 1" of a new JB collector's magazine with trading cards. Is this authentic? They are £1.50 each but regular issues are priced at double o:

Again, worth the spendula being as I've just about stopped collecting music?

Looks just like the stuff I saw in the shop! I'll purchase one to see what it's all about and maybe more later.

These were issued about 4 years ago, and were available with a magazine that you collected each week.

They also had a series of cards with character profiles etc.

If these were issued 4 years ago, then why has the local newsie just got them in? If these are re-issues, I don't think I'd be interested in collecting.

I've no idea, but even if thse are "new", they are very similar to the ones issued 4 years ago.

I don't see why they would re-issue them....

Why? To cash in on the new film, why else?

it looks like a newer version of the Spy Files that were available a few years ago. in that set you got a magazine and tradings cards with each issue. (you can get complete sets of cards and magazines on ebay, i think there were around 40 magazines in the whole collection, or some sellers may have the cards only)

this looks like a new version of that collection, which now includes Casino Royale. click on the Magazine tab on the page that tyler gave the link to, to see pages of the magazine.

I just saw it in Borders, issue 1 for £1.50 with 2 packs of cards, magazine, and the free "gadget" pen.

it says the pen can reveal special codes on the cards using its UV bulb. has anyone tried it on banknotes to reveal the hidden note denomination in the bottom left corner of £5, £10 and old £20 notes? (it's atthe top of new £20 notes, and they also have differently coloured security fibres that are revealed under a UV light source)

i want a pen/light to check banknotes so for £1.50 it's not bad, especially as it is a pen also (i think?).

or does it only work with the Bond cards?

i noticed it's issued by GE Fabbri like the Bond Cars Collection.

oh and next to the card collection was a magazine named Spy Files (different to the old magazine/card collection, this was like a book), which is a biography of all the actors who've played Bond so far, incuding Craig, and it has a 2008 Bond Girls calendar inside the pack too. anyone picked this up?

cool, so a £20 note looks like the image on the right under the light, revealing the "20"?

just bought it and disappointingly, the pen only reveals messages written using the white-nibbed pen, it doesn't work on banknotes :'(

you get a poster of Craig (the image on the cover of the magazine) with a checklist for all the cards under it, and on the reverse side it's the black silhouette image of Bond with his gun.

to collect all 52 issues it'll cost around £155, so i won't be subscribing as i'm already getting the Bond car collection.

although a full set of cards displayed in the collector's tin that comes with issue 2 would be a nice item to have.

look, these are the exact pens given away with this card set, they've just been made in a black casing and had the 007 logo stamped on them: Click

See my 007 Spy Cards message on page 3(?).
I have spent well over £100 on these as Issue 1 was 4 times the value of following issues. Issue 2 had a tin. (I got2,one for first 2 sets and the other for repeats.)There are 6 twin-pic cards in the 275 card set. Nos 19-Lotus,40-BMW Z8,49-ZaoDNA,189-Moon/GravesDNA,242-Parahawk exploding & 275-Vanquish Vanish. Next week will be issue 5, but I now have a whole set and am 6 short of a 2nd set. So buying early saves money in the long run.
