Craig has been seen at a few events, most notably the Film Independent's Spirit Awards wearing a pair of brown tortuous aviators. Here is a link:

Anyone know the brand/model by chance?

I was thinking about getting one of the Persol frames featured in Casino Royale but I wound up buying the 0649 model instead. It was very popular in th 60's as it was one of the models worn by Steve McQueen. The other model McQueen wore frequently was the 0714 which fold in half at the bridge as well as the arms. You may want to check these models out. They have a very classic 60's look but they have stood the test of time. The 0649 model is supposed to be the hot ticket for Summer 2008 by fashion mavens. Also, as an aside...I read recently that Craig has been tabbed to play Steve McQueen in the Steve McQueen movie...so my guess is that you will eventually see Craig in the 0649's or 0714's as well.
Cheers!
That is cool news indeed. I am a big McQueen fan as well, and have always loved the folding Persol glasses that McQueen sported in the Thomas Crown Affair. Furthermore, Bullitt is one of my favorite movies of all time, and one day I will make my own custom Bullit Mustang since Dynacorn is re-popping the '67/'68 fastback body. Persol goes hand in hand with bad boy cool and Daniel Craig certainly does have the chops to re-make a McQueen iconic movie. Well done Shatterhand67!

If you're inquiring as to what color McQueen wore, it's pretty much just about any color. I've seen photo's of him in black, tortoise and honey tortoise frames. The lense colors varied as well...brown, grey and even blue for the Thomas Crown Affair. I believe Persol did a limited run of the 0714's in a honey tortoise with the blue lenses. I usually see them go for upwards of $400...so a little out of my range but you can usually find the regular edition 0714's for under $200. Just do a Google photo search for "McQueen Persol" and you'll see what I mean. He wore several different models and was a big fan of the brand. I also read that McQueen had Dennis Roberts in LA custom make a lot of glasses for him or alter ones that he had bought. In addition to providing sunglasses to McQueen (the "King of Cool"), Mr. Roberts' claim to fame was being the eyewear consultant to the King himself...Elvis. He made the EP TCB glasses that everyone associates with the 1970's Elvis. Unfortunately Mr. Roberts passed away this last summer. I would have liked to have bought a pair of glasses from him just to say I got them from him...but...Alas, it was not to be. Hope that helps though.
Cheers.
PS..this is a bit off topic but for you fellow McQueen fans out there, one of my next purchases will be a Baracuta G9 jacket. Check them out...Another classic, iconic piece of men's clothing which just celebrated it's 70th anniversary. It is made in England as well...something I could see Bond wearing on the golf course or for casual wear...How's that for bringing it back to a Bond theme?

I love the McQueen style Persols in folding and non-folding versions. Unfortunately the style even in the 52 size looks huge on me. It must be the height of the lens as the width is not excessively larger than my other shades. I'd love to get the honey tortoise but I'd never wear them.
The Persol aviator looks like a good match for shape but I don't see the tell-tale hinge on the glasses pictured. The hole between the lenses are not quite right either. I found a pair of Blinde glasses called "A Bad Habit" that are close but they don't seem to have the dip at the top of the frame between the lenses. So many companies have come out with these acetate aviators lately it could be impossible to find the exact ones.
I agree that this style tuns large. I purchased my 0649's online and was told that size 56 was for medium to large faces. Well, I have about a 7 3/8 to a 7 1/2 head which is usually considered large to extra large as far as heads go...so I thought I'd be OK. My 56's do run large on me...a little large for my personal preferences but servicable. I have gotten a lot of nice compliments on them so they probably look good enough. I plan on getting the 0714's in either a 52 or 54 but want to find a local retailer where I can try on the different sizes first. Then I'll go hunting for a bargain in cyberspace. I'll probably keep the 0649 size 56's in the car for driving.
Craig as Bond?......LOLOLOL......Oh, wait!
You are correct. The 0649 and 0714 models are the same, save for the added articulation points.
Muks...I would tend to agree with you but I think it all boils down to personal preference. Example...Although I was originally interested in the glasses from Casino Royale I decided that those just didn't fit MY style preferences but I then started hunting through the other Persol offerings which is how I stumbled across the 0649's. I don't think the 2862s would be for me... To each his own...One man's treasure is another man's garbage and vice versa.
I had a pair of aviators that I wore for years and I loved them but they were more traditional metal frames not acetate. I lost them one evening at Summerfest in Milwaukee in a drunken stuper...which, based on past experience, is how I usually loose a pair of sunglasses. LOL.{[]{[]{[]{[]{[]
That G9 jacket is very cool (McQueen is seen wearing one of these in a lot of pictures), I might have to look into getting one of those. This is another item that has been copied by a lot of designers recently. It definately fits the bill for that black "windcheater" that Fleming was always talking about for Bond's casual wear.
O'Connell's in Buffalo, NY carries the real McCoy Baracuta G9 made in England. Their website is:

Phone is: 1-800-336-0076
I didn't see the black on the site. The navy looks pretty sweet though. I'll probably get a natural and a navy. They might be able to order the black for you. It just doesn't look like a color they stock.
Mantis, I think I'm going to go with the 52's then when I get the 714's. My 649 56's are a bit big for me and I don't see there would be much of a difference going to the 54's. Like I said, my mellon is pretty big so 52 is probably the way to go. Too bad that style didn't work for you.
