HUGE NEWS

Dunhill is NOT the outfitter for the new James Bond movie. I have been on the phone with the head of PR for Dunhill and sent them all the pertinent articles we have seen on this and she said they would love the rumour to be true but it just isn't:

Hi David,
I finally got the emails.
Unfortunately, this is not true.
Thanks,
Joanna

damn. God forbid we dress Bond in British clothing.

Thanks for the info, Mantis. But does that mean Brioni is still Bond's clothier?

Every time I see news from Mantis in the Collecting forum, I hold my wallet shut and peak from behind my hands at the message and cringe for the expenditures. :)

I wonder who will be selected? I should think we'll hear soon.

Judging by house style, his outfitter could be Kilgour, a DC favourite, they clothed him in Layer Cake as well.

Is it possible that the NY department aren't fully up to date on this?
Also the reports that say they're involved say that 'it's all a bit hush-hush'; perhaps they don't want to announce their involvement yet, if it's true. Not sure why they'd refute it rather than just ignore your request, though...

I agree emtiem, the NY dept. might not be up to date, if anyone can contact Dunhill in London and speak to the manager there, then maybe we can shed more light as to where the suit came from. However, from my experience with tailored clothing, the cut of that suit lends itself to either Dunhill or Kilgour.

Furthermore, by the looks of that collar, it could be back to T&A, even though this seemed unlikely, just look at the way the collar sits, almost flat, unlike most shirts which have a small gap just behind the collar bone. The collar is shaped, in a slight curve, instead of a straight line, and seems very similar to my shirts from T&A, although, it must be said, it's not looking likely as both Brosnan and Craig wore Brioni shirts (apart from dinner shirts) in DAD and CR.

Yeah- I thought he might just be in his own suit (he is a very well-dressed man), but on closer inspection that seems to be the same tie he was wearing in those location photos from London we saw a while ago. To my very untrained eye it looks sharper than Bond's recent suits, and I think Brioni are on the record as saying it's not them anymore.

As someone in the advertising and marketing business a PR rep refuting this would be very strange. They would opt for a no comment before actually speaking to someone on the phone several times. Mind you my discussions with her were not just via email. I WILL admit that perhaps there is a UK based PR firm handling Dunhill that might be on top of this so it would pay for someone to track this down...

And is seems Asp knows something so give, brother, give...:)

I don't really, it's just that I know someone at Dunhill, London and she has never denied that they were supplying the production when I asked her what was being used. Which has left me confused. Turnbull & Asser Jermyn St, also did not seem to acknowledge anything either way, which is also odd. The lid seems to be screwed on tight to prevent things leaking this time around. It's gonna drive us mad :#

When I visited Turnbull & Asser in December of 07, my contact there spoke highly of DC and said that they have done all the dinner shirts for all the actors that have played Bond, suggesting that they are back again for QOS. Apparently, DC has a large role in deciding the wardrobe, as he also said that DC came in to the Jermyn St branch and helped create a new bow tie design, as well as the collar. So from that evidence, I can say that Dunhill has a high chance of being the clothier, with Kilgour being a close second, as DC apparently wears plenty of Kilgour off screen (along with Jude Law, who is ironically modelling Dunhill's RTW collection on their website.)

As with the lid being screwed on real tight, if anyone is a regular/recent customer to Dunhill, John Lobb or Kilgour in London, maybe the thought of making a sale would encourage the staff to blast the lid off?

I suppose you might say that Dunhill would be the more likely of the two as they seem to have a bigger operation- and Bond would need a lot of clothes for doubles etc. which they'd have to supply.
I'm sure you're right when you say DC has a lot of input- stylish bespoke clothes seem to be very close to his heart.

Hey Mantis, when we were in London in November 2007 in the Jermyn Street Dunhill store, didn't the salesguys say that they just fitted Daniel Craig for a suit in that store?

They did, but it could have been for personal use...after all, his personal wardrobe is mostly Dunhill...

Not giving up on Dunhill and I am hoping someone from the UK can call the store and get the head of PR on the line...

    Update: Contacted Dunhill London.

I have contacted Dunhill in London and they have also denied providing clothing for Daniel Craig in QoS.

In the ET Interview shown tonight (Feb 26) the interviewer refers to Daniel looking good in his Tom Ford suits. I think I heard that correctly. Could he be supplying the suits for the new Bond movie?
