Full-tilt weirdness indeed! A riveting episode that leaves me wanting to see the next episode...... right NOW. It was great to get back to the ship and see what was going on there. Also great to see Jacob's cabin again. The Locke centered episodes always tend to be great and this one was not a letdown. Now how are they going to move that island? :s

OK, I've caught up with you guys. At least for the next couple of hours. The Jack episode was OK. The most intriguing bit was Hurley claiming that they are all dead. But the Locke episode was brilliant. I agree with you HB about the apearance of Richard. That was fascinating. How much does this guy look like Anthony Perkins? And Martin is pretty frightening. At least Desmond and Michael should be able to get the boat going before he gets back. and the cabin scene reminded me of Agent Cooper in the Black Lodge, with the little man and Laura Palmer. It was that creepy. Incidentally, can somebody remind me if we ever saw Christian's body? Could it have been a ruse to get Jack on that plane?

JD, I was about to answer your question with a certain "Yes we did". . .but the more I thought about it, the less sure I became. I remember in the first season Jack found his father's shattered coffin and I was thinking he saw the body, but it may have been empty. Gads--I may have to buy the series on DVD just so I can check and re-check things!

Anyway, on to the episode you haven't seen yet. . .

This was another good 'un and a rarity among Lost episodes of late--it's one where pretty much all the principal characters are on camera and have something to do. The big appeal is that we get to see what happened to the "Oceanic Six" right after their "rescue"--the stage is set for the flash-forwards we saw earlier in the season and it further shows that all five (you can't really count Aaron) are big freakin' liars. The best bits were Hurley's breakdown at his surprise party and the moment where Jack meets Claire's mother and discovers The Truth. And we've been left with more cliffhangers than I can count. . .but there's two more weeks until we find what happens next (and then will be left in suspense for months)! Man, I love this show!

I have to wait two more weeks??! :o

Ah well, what's two weeks compared to the many months wait we will have after the finale. Everything is adding up to a fantastic ending to the season and I am certainly glad that we were able to get these last episodes to get a pretty much complete season. This feels much more satisfying than just eight episodes would have been and seems like we are getting an actual season of the show rather than just a half of one. Can't wait until the season finale!

I wonder now why the "Oceanic 6" are big liars. Who or what is motivating them to lie? Now I wonder if the writters will bring up another plot of the rest of the survivors (Locke, Sawyer etc....). Maybe they came home to but didn't want anything to do with the lies. I'm thinking to far ahead. I hope I survive two weeks without Lost because tonights show was one of the best of the series.

Now I see why Sky held Lost back a week. You guys are having a break. Well that was a great penultimate episode. Seeing the guys being delivered to the world's media and lying through their teeth was great. Nice to see the seriously attractive Michelle Forbes, who played the ruthless Commander of the Pegasus in Battlestar Galactica, as the Oceanic rep. I expect we'll see her again. Are we going to get an answer for why the dead seem to be returning to life? I'm right in thinking that Martin shot Ben in the head, aren't I? And it seems Richard is going to have a big part in the finale. But that boat better not blow up with Desmond on it. Keep the Scotsman alive!

I think the writers might be toying with the idea of the island is like traveling back in time.

Well, the season finale was a typical glorious mess. Now we know why the Oceanic Six are liars--to protect those on the island from being hunted out by the bad guy. There was also a real sense of wrapping up a few storylines and getting some intriguing threads started. It looks like the next (and final?) season will focus on Locke as the new leader of the Others (now I know what he was born to do), how Jack will manage to get himself and the other five back to the island--wherever it is, and on Benjamin's mission to exterminate Penny.

What's left to be resolved? Well, are Michael and Jin dead? Where is Claire? And, finally,
does Locke really die, or is it some kind of hoax worthy of his predecessor Ben Linus?

Favorite bit from the episode: the crazy Hurley tipping over a chess piece and saying to an empty chair, "Checkmate, Mr. Eko." Least favorite bit: Ben turning the wheel to make the island "disappear." Too silly. But that's a small gripe. It was a fine way to close what's been a strong and interesting season. Here's looking forward to next year!

That was an excellent finale. I think season 4 has been outstanding. Some interesting plot developments. How has the hot redhead been to the island before? Was she born there? Why is Sun making an approach to Widmore? I guess she wants to find the island and possibly Jin if he's still alive. And I get the feeling that Widmore and Desmond will put aside their differences to protect Penny. There are so many other questions raised, but that's cool. I'm going to miss this show. Only two seasons left. :#

Why did I wait three weeks to watch the season finale? What a great episode. Some edge of your seat moments. It would of been just like the writers to have the Oceanic 6 land on the boat and have the boat blow up and everyone dies. Thankfully that didn't happen. Unfortunatly though Michael and Jin were on the doomed boat. While the episode did answer a question or two, it still raises more questions.

If Locke stayed on the island, why is he at Hoffs/Dwaler laying in a casket under the name of Jeremy Bentham? Perhaps as mentioned above, it's just a hoax to get the other 5 people back to the island.

When Ben turned the wheel on the island, where did the island go?

I'll have to wait until season 5 starts to get more answers (and of course questions).

I do hope Locke doesn't have a twin brother. That would suck.

The writers would have a lot of explaining to do. Since just a few weeks ago we saw Lockes mom give birth to him, and only him. Of course, this is Lost, she might of had twins, but his twin was taken away minutes after birth and taken to the island. Nothing would shock me anymore about this show.

I'm a bit behind in commenting on this but it was definitely a fantastic ending to a very strong season. I don't think I liked the finale as much as last season's though. I can't wait until season 5. As much as I enjoyed this year, I'm hoping that next season can get back to more of the mysteries of the island stuff. It was interesting seeing who made it off the island and how it happened but I'd really like to get back to finding out more about the island. I think they will be able to find a good balance between island mysteries and the Oceanic Six trying to get back to the island.
