Couple of programmes on the (freeview) box tonight that look interesting:

Ready to Wear - BBC 4. 8.30pm - 9.00pm
A look at social change over the last 50 years as reflected by the clothes people wear. This episode looks at how the suit has changed from the sixties to the eighties.

Savile Row (1/3) - BBC 4. 9.00pm - 10.00pm
Filmed over a year, a look the tailoring houses of Savile Row, synonymous with bespoke tailoring for two centuries. The tailors view a jeanswear company's arrival with trepidation

Anyone interested in 007 always likes his style -and thanks to great tailoring he always has it. so anyone interested in such bespoke tailoring should watch these interesting programmes. You never know 007 may even get a mention! :)

well having watched the afore mentioned programmes -I have to say it was fairly insightful and was interesting to see how SR still runs its business in the 200 year long traditional way. In this the first episode there was a man who helps design Aston Martin cars who was looking for a bespoke dinner suit to fit his six foot four frame -the result was a beautifully tailored dinner suit which did indeed make him feel like 007. :)
Also the trepidation of the arrival of Abercrombie & Fitch to the area was amusing to watch -although I could see how the arrival of such a large retailer would make them feel invaded somewhat. Next weeks episode will also no doubt be interesting. Did anyone else catch this programme?

Sorry to hear that -I didn't realise it was limited like that -I thought that the BBC website would make it open to everyone. :(

episode two was on last night -very interesting seeing how Savile Row are fighting to keep their status and have done an exhibition in Italy -and how Henry Poole Opened a franchise in China with almost disastrous results! This was a really interesting show and although not specifically about Bond you get to see the world he would inhabit in terms of clothing style -and there is always some sort of nod and wink to that lifestyle -wether it be looking like 007 or owning an Aston Martin etc.

    Anyone else watch this show?

For anyone outside the UK who wanted to watch part I found this link:

It is only a little over 32 minutes so I am not sure if it is the whole show. If I find a link to part 2 I will post it.

Each episode is an hour long -so that will only be the first half.

    Great find though. :)

Well I was able to watch the first half anyway. I was really enjoying it up until it abruptly cut off.:# I find the whole thing fascinating.

Me too. I'd love to be in the position to buy proper bespoke suits from somewhere like Savile row -rather than buying off the peg numbers -which in some cases I wish to add an extra button to or to shorten the sleeves etc.

Still this series has been very good -and before it there has also been a half hour episode series of shows called Ready To Wear that has looked at fashion since the fifties -not nearly as good -but still interesting nonetheless. :)
