DBS to get more screen time in QoS

according to Adam Kirly on Fifth Gear, C5 car programme earlier tonight.

Tiff Needell thrashes the DBS around a tight handling circuit, and just loves it. Then he challenges Adam, the man of 7.5 barrel rolls in CR to a timed challenge...

Stunt driver versus racing driver...

guess who won...

But Adam explains he's working with the DBS on QoS, and it'll get a lot more screen time than in CR.....

Sounds perfect....

7.5 rolls? Wouldn't it have had to have landed on its roof to do 0.5 rolls? :)

He's actually a member of this site, believe it or not! The only man to have actually played James Bond on a cinema screen to have posted on AJB? On indeed any Bond forum? Very probably!

As for the DBS getting more screen time, I think we already knew that pretty much. Apart from the talk of an early car chase, Craig said that the DBS would be a bit 'pimped' and 'tweaked' this time around (gadgets?), and if you watch the video on 007.com of him rehearsing car stunts in a BMW, you can very briefly see the dashboard of an Aston Marin... :)

Glad to see the DBS will be getting more screen time in QOS than in CR...it would be hard put to log less :)

As for the 7.5 rolls...perhaps they count that moment, when the DBS is sort of vertical, and spins, in midair, along its lenthwise axis, as half a roll :v Not sure about the difficulty factor, but it might be worth a gold in Olympic platform diving :007)

And we know M will give 007 a tech briefing on the DBS, from missile launchers to the VTOL to the submarine conversion to the grenade chute :p :))

Good to hear...the DBS has all it takes to become the 'regular' Bond car, just like the DB5.

I'm going to put it out there - they could totally suprise us and NOT put in a Bond car. Not all great Bond movies need to have a Q car in them.

I find that it damages the ability to suspend one's belief when MI6 somehow deems it necessary to put Bond in a quarter-million-dollar supercar in every mission.

A reread of the original Fleming novels reveals that Bond spends most of his transit time utilizing public transportation (a first-class ticket is a reasonable business expense; a BMW Z8 is not).

The most prominent 'fancy' Bond car of the novels is the old 30-year-old supercharged Bentley (with hexagonal bolt sticking out of the hood in lieu of ostentatious hood ornament) that Bond rescued after being wrapped around a tree by some rich playboy. She went like a bird and a bomb, and Bond loved her more, if possible, then all the women in the world wrapped up together :)

In a similar vein, I *really* like how they pulled off the inclusion of the DB5 in Casino Royale as being a result of gambling proceeds and not a 'squad car'.

I'd rather see Bond sporting the DB5 again, personally.

Indeed. They could have had Bond in the DB5 now that he "won" it in CR. That should be his regular car, just for him and not for "business".

Oh, but....how will he get the car from the Bhamas to London? Eeek!! :'(

True, but everyone from Aston to Craig and the stuntmen have confirmed that it is in there, so there's no doubt at all this time.

Maybe, but FlemBond had several Bentleys, the others all newer than the 4 litre of Casino Royale/Moonraker, plus he was even given a brand new Aston Martin company car for use in Goldfinger- so for FilmBond to have new shiny cars isn't exactly against the spirit of Fleming.

More screen time for DBS is great news IMO!

I'm pleased to see the return of the Aston but I was hoping Bond would drive a Bently (Anarge perhaps?)

I have always liked older Bentleys but the Bentleys of now I don't like the styling of them and they instantly make me think of Premiership Football players like wayne Rooney. and Bond is far more classy than a striker for Man United.

James Bond and Aston Martin are by now inextricably linked; the films have had a couple of Bentley references but it won't go any further without a major corporate buy-in!
