Mego Moonraker Jet Boat

Just came across an old promo pamphlet from Mego advertising toys from Moonraker film. One of the toys pictured is the Glastron Boat with the built in hang-glider and Bond figure. Does anyone know if this was ever produced? Thanks in advance for all your help.

Here's a pic of the toy...

very very cool i would love that in my collection and it would have been a great toy when i was a kid.

I am 99 % sure it was never produced though.

I have been through referance books emailed some experts who have never heard of it ...

I dont think Mego produced any Bond figures of the size which the boat is displaying.

Still a great display leaflet ..

    hold onto that forever.

Looks as though it was another one of those great Bond toys that never was, which is a shame really.

Ahhh, Mego. . .a word I shall forever associate with my childhood. Anyway, the best source for all Mego products is the Mego Museum, and they have a pretty good page for the Moonraker figures. There's nothing about a boat--however, there was a nifty space suit for the Bond figure that was never released in the U.S.--but Mego Museum has an excellent forum where you can post your question. You're more than likely to get an answer. Good luck, SpectreIsland!

Neither the boat nor a shuttle (scaled to hold the same figures) which was also announced were ever made. There was also to have been a flying helicopter. There are some terrific illustrations/sales sheet copies in John Bonavita's book on MEGO. Curiously, MEGO used photos of the actual Action Man figures Meddings dressed for the film to promote the deluxe 12" Bond.

The new book on Bond versus Indiana Jones action figures (there's a separate thread here begun awhile back) covers some of this I think.

This is the first of I've seen of an actual prototype, though. Someone must have it ... along with the Gilbert large scale Disco Volante prototype, no doubt!

Slightly off-topic, but MEGO showed some great Black Hole (one of my guilty pleasures) products around this same time that were also never produced.
