QoS the most expensive movie for collectors?

Is it just me or does it seem like this movie is going to be substantially more expensive to collect from? With CR we had two Omegas, with the Planet Ocean being substantially more expensive than the Seamaster. Two pairs of Persols at $200 a pair. Brioni and Dunhill Suits/dinner jackets. All of these are expensive.
With Quantum of Solace we are looking at $400 a pair Oliver Peoples sunglasses. Two more Omegas. Suits by Tom Ford. These items are more than twice the price of the clothing and accessories of Casino Royale. From a marketing stand point, I think they are starting to price out even the hard core collectors.
I have deep pockets, but some of this stuff is a little out of line. I'm not saying I won't buy for my collection, I'm saying that it is going to hurt a little more based on these preliminary reports. Opinions?

Trend to have better collectors value in the older movies now..."methinks"..as Gollum would say from LOTR (but I mix my genres).
With CR, there was an element of good fortune - Lindy Hemming dressed Craig down so it was likely we could pick up cheaper stuff - Nike trainers, Purcell's, Ted Baker. Even the Sunspel and La Perla weren't bank breaking. With QOS, it would seem at this point, high street brands are out.
My take on this is always to be selective. Not all Bond items suit every individual. And unless you want to create a Bond museum, do you need everything? Is is necessary to buy the Oliver Peoples if you've only bought two pairs of Persol within a year or so?
And back to CR - how many people actually "went through the card" - got both watches, the Brioni suits, the T & A evening shirt, etc?
Oh, and never mind the DBS...
Well, don't forget that no-one's making you buy it, and James Bond looking good and wearing the best is the most important thing; not making it easy for the tiny amount of collectors who like to buy the stuff on screen- you almost make it sound like the filmmakers are at fault for not thinking of you!
Certainly sounds like you have a lovely collection, though. It's a bit more tasteful than having Darth Vader costumes about the house- the benefits of being a Bond fan!
I have the Persol's, the watch, the handgun(s), soon to have one of the TND's leather coats, etc.
I buy what I can afford and what is practical for use. I can't see me buying a dinner jacket as I do not run in those circles.
Same as Mantis, unfortunately though, it does turn you into a completist elitist snob, so you carry on buying clothes and shoes from these sources.
The two watches thing is a purely marketing thing not a Bond thing. I happen to be a watch aficionado, so buying both watches was not a big deal. I just think with certain accessories they are pushing it to see how expensive they can go on marketing items and still have people buy. The fact that Luxottica owns the Calvin Klein, Persol, and Oliver Peoples brands is a good indicator of this trend.
Calvin Klein is a tier 3 premium brand. It is branded in a fashion that make it common place and available through a wide market.
Persol is a tier 2 premium brand. The branding of Persol is a little more exclusive, a little more expensive, and we've gone from a single pair to two distinctive pairs, with the 2244s being slightly harder to come by than the "Special Edition" sunglasses.
Now, with Oliver Peoples we have a tier 1 ultra-premium brand available only at specialty boutiques, and we have yet to know if these are the only sunglasses in QoS.
I guess I am just pointing out what I am seeing as a marketing trend for us die hard collectors.
As for you that say 'You don't have to buy...', I say shame on you. If I were in a different thread than 'Memorabilia & Collecting' I'd say you might have a point.{[] But I am a collector, for good or bad, richer or poorer. In this case, I feel it's is going to be poorer, or at least I will be poorer after this film. :007)
How about lobbying JonTremaine to appeal to Eon to allow us all to buy these items...afterall they must have enough fabric...

I am with Mantis so far as I want to dress LIKE Bond, but not dress AS Bond. If I can get the Bahamas arival outfit that LOOKS the same then I will wear it because that's a good look to have. My dinner suit cost less than £100 brand new (thanks eBay) and everyone comments how Bondian it looks when I am at a function.
At work I wear suits similar to Bonds in GE, TND, DAD, CR but at a fraction of the price. The ties are more expensive but make me feel great, often getting an exact match. I have just bought a QOS grey one but lost the link, will post if I find it.
My watch is not an Omega, but a TAG. Still las the black face and silver strap and so looks great (as Bond would). Car is a BMW but not a Z3.
What else.....oh, the phone is the Sony and O2 keep telling me to upgrade but I will wait for QOS. Any truth in the iPhone rumour?
I am just about to start getting my Daniel Craig bod back for the summer, but look more like a hippo at the moment. Love the La Perla copies (eBay again!).
To summarise, I try to do it on a budget as I'm never going to do the real thing, just not in that league. However, I have started to travel 1st clas on BA, but that's another story!!!!
I often say the same thing to myself. Thank God I was born a Bond fanatic, and not a Star Trek fanatic! God knows, I'd NEVER get laid!

Tom Ford aint showing up on Ebay! And Persols are expensive but Peoples are crazy high-priced!
Maybe we all just accept Bond is an attitude and look and not a specific product.
Buy the items when we can. Find acceptable alternatives (and not cheap copies) when we can't.

I think he means that it appears to be a 42mm Planet Ocean SS in QOS. The proportions on the watch seem to be a 42mm to my eye, at least from what I've seen so far. The second watch, of course, being the new black Omega Seamaster to be released later this year. My local Omega dealer said the the new watch comes out in 6 months or so.

I love Trek and Star Wars (the original trilogy, thanks) as much as any red-blooded American male. Just saying, I have to go "WHEW" that my own personal "fan-geek-ness" forces me to pick up Sunspel shirts, Persol sunglasses, and Omega watches, rather than Spock ears!

Well I'm up against a fiery feline who will cut my gonads off when she finds out what I bought. So if it's anything like that, one sympathizes.
Funny that you should say that because I thought the opposite. I originally tried the watch in 45.5 with a metal bracelet and I thought it looked too big for me. Several months later I tried the 45.5 with the rubber strap and I thought it looked pretty good. My wrists are only 7 inches so size -or apparent size - was a concern. I like the bezel on the 45.5 much more than the 42's bezel...so that's the one I'm going with. However I do think that the face of the 42 seems to be better balanced than the 45.5's.
I completely agree with you, I tried on the 45.5 and the 42 with metal bracelets and the 42 seemed to look much more proportional. I haven't had a chance to try on the 45.5 with the rubber strap, though.
