is the only reason i believe they made Scaramanga drive that car, plus a contract with AMC i assume.
Aw c'mon 037 this is right up your alley! You're the Scaramanga man. This would round out you collection nicely...you'd just have to finish it off with a midget man servant and some wings for the car.
Seriously, AMC did make some god-awful looking stuff in the 70's didn't they. Remember the AMC Gremlin? When I was in Cub Scouts, the father of one of my friends worked for AMC. My friend made his pinewood derby car look like the Gremlin. Needless to say it was not the most aerodynamic pinewood deby car and he did not do well.
Of course the late 70's brought us the AMC Pacer. How many of you remember this commercial?:
