Way too flashy from the action sequences. Can we tone that sort of stuff down and head back to the classic Bonds, where the intensity was more oriented in dialogue and setup and not jaw dropping stunts followed quickly enough to keep the interest in someone who thinks he has ADHD. To me this is starting to be like Brosnan's later films minus Q and Moneypenny
Although M's dialogue in the trailer did give it a LTK-feel which is a plus.

I notice a pattern
GE > CR - New beginning, dark and gritty
TND > QOS - Loads of action whilst keeping Bond feel
I prefered GE to TND but I still thought it was good and I'll probably feel the same about this one.

Feck, WOW!!!!!!! Awsome trailer, this should be better than CR. What I dont understand is why people want to go back to the old day, ala Brozzer films. Its a new age and a new era, get over it already!!!!!
What if we like the old days?
Nowt wrong with the old days, you're entilted to your opinion matey. However times do and will always change, go with the flow and enjoy the ride{[] Here's to a fantastic night out at the flicks when it comes out.
The trailer is out. I thought Christmas only came once a year.
Sorry -- wrong Bond.
Bourne, schmourne -- James Bond is back, and the trailer looks great. But it is only a trailer and it's impossible to get the full feel of a film based on a trailer (unless it's a pretty lousy film). But I will say that any claim that Bond copies Ludlum's spy is a case of putting the cart before the horse (Bond can't be seen on a motorcycle, or without a tie because Bourne rode one and never wore the other? That's BS). Bond has been updated, but really by going back to his literary roots, when it was OK for him to get dirty and bloody. But I've also seen plenty of footage of Bond in suit and tie. I think the big difference with Craig's Bond is that he's more realistic, like the difference between the highly stylized Batman of Tim Burton and the more reality-based character of Christopher Nolan. It's a very welcome change from my point of view.

... I will say that Quantum of Solace, while Bourne-free, is not completely original: Craig does appear to borrow my trademark kiss-the-girl's-naked-back stunt. But what the hell. I have other tricks.

And from mine as well...I guess we're going to have to hear about Bourne from now until doomsday...both Connery's and Brosnan's Bonds rode motorcycles before Jason-Come-Lately happened along.
Like I said elsewhere, talking about Bond being 'like Bourne' is like saying that a father looks like his son, instead of the other way round.
I know this song by heart---it's got a good beat and you can dance to it...Bond movies won't be Bond movies for a select few as long as (Formerly) Poor DannyTM has the job...Oh well

I don't think it's the end of the world, but I think that most people are saying that the bike jump stunt is very similar to the jump-into-the-window stunt from Ultimatum- which had similar prominence in that trailer. And it is very similarly shot, plus the colour palettes are similar. It's not the motorbike that's the issue.
I think it's a pretty fair point; I can see where people may be coming from on that. I don't even mind Bond picking up the baton from Bourne as Bourne was damned good, but that particular shot makes me think that they've gone a little too far in terms of that stunt and how it works in the trailer.
Quite right. Not the end of the world by a long shot...
The point about the QoS motorcycle jump shot being similar to Bournes 'leap through the window' is a fair one...but for me the QoS stunt stands out more---perhaps it's the expanse of the vista around him. It's quite the opposite of the claustrophobic 'threading the needle' sense one had when watching the Bourne stunt.
Bottom line: great action B-)
And I'd have to think that Dench's M has nearly run her course, surely...time for the assassin's bullet :v

To me its got the class and the action - looks great and as for the rogue agent comment -what do you expect -this is straight after the woman he'd fallen in Love with had died. Remember they missed the chance to explore that properly after Tracey died in OHMSS -so now with the reboot sorted we see how 007 feels after Vesper has died in his arms. So for me it has all the continuity we could hope for. so roll on november -I just really can not wait!
I've always been under the impression the Bond series created fast-paced stuntwork/editing back in the 60s, but turned its back on it in the 70s/80s in favor of... "style?" Anyway one only has to watch Bond skiing down Piz Gloria for 20+ minutes to notice that kinda action IS Bond. Flashforward, and so what it took a johnny-come-way-lately to show that it's back in style, the new EON seems perfectly content to go back to Bond (not Bourne) action basics. That's all fine and good, it's not whether there's such type action in a Bond film (always should be by my count), but whether the the rest of it is, well, Bond. CR was and definately liked how Haggis wrote Bond for today, looking forward to more of that in QOS. That QOS looks to have lots of good action is only a plus IMO, I'm very thankful the days of silly TV-style fisticuffs is over.

I'm so on the same page about this, for me this storyline is a very long time coming.
Some have said that this trailer has left them cold, or is lacking a certain atmosphere.
We must remember that the first CR trailer was practically the same - half mood-setter, half action.
Yet, here I find the atmosphere stronger. Mr White is plain creepy, especially his seemingly loving "we have people everywhere". This looks an even colder, film that Casino Royale.
Another element is how little we know about QoS. Many had read CR's script and were able to notice which shots belonged to the same scene, and their context. Here, we have very little idea just how plot-driving the action is.
Do remain positive, the initial trailer is always designed primarily to excite. And excite, it has!
By the way - is it a known technique at all of Forster's to have his actors looking into the camera? I'm sure both Gemma and Olga do so
Just seen the teaser - god it looks great - can't wait. Never thought I would say this but it looks better that CR. This is what Bond is all about isn't it?
Wow!!! it looks amazing, but it looks a bit to me like the greatest hits of other good action movies.
As said before the motorbike sequence looks like the bourne movies, the aston martin chase a bit like Ronin, the speedboat chase like the one in face/off and the rope/scaffold shootout a bit like the bungee ballet shootout in tomb raider (which of course starred Daniel Craig himself)
but if in the final film they have a Bond style twist to the sequences (like they normally do) i am willing to forgive them.
I think the trailer looks great and very much look forward to the movie's release. Forgive me if someone has mentioned this already as I have not red the complete thread but, does the motorcycle jump remind anyone of Steve McQueen's jump from The Great Escape? I wonder if it was an homage to McQueen knowing that Craig is to play him...sort of an inside joke kind of thing.
I can see some comparrisons with Bourne Movies, I've seen the Bourne Trilogy often enough to notice some of the comparrisons however Bond did most of what Bourne does so well first so the comparisons to me are unfounded. there is also the fact that the similar "bike" jump in Ultimatium was actually on a scooter so its a different vehicle in a different from a building to a boat, not through a window, seems like a different stunt to me.
I've not been able to track down a full screen or larger version of the trailer yet but can anyone see what material Craig's trousers are made from in the shot of him with his shirt off, at first glance they looked like Dark Jeans which of course is a Bond first.
Any Complaints, the use of the phsycoanalysing shpeil of M's again, If it was just in the movie I could have defended it but using it in the trailer in the samed vain as the CR trailer was a little irritating. there is also the fact that there was a destinct lack of Mathis related material in the trailer, but they probably don't want to give away his alegience by showing any of his scenes.
PS. Mr White is Creepy.

Looks exciting, however I just don't fancy Mr. Craig. Like CR, QoS most likely will not be my style of Bond film.
Well, as the Stones would say, "you can't always get what you want."
I'll be waiting for the next guy... B-)
"My acting range? Left eyebrow raised, right eyebrow raised..."
I thought everything on the trailer looked pretty good, except for it only showed Mathieu Almaric for a few seconds. I'm really curious how he will do as a Bond villain.
I must be from another planet because I don't understand what all the fuss is about. Granted this is only a teaser trailer so the picture could be completly different, but I didn't get a good Bond vibe at all.
What I didn't like, it appears Bond is going rogue again, seen that before. M is lecturing Bond again, seen that before, Bond is jumping a motorcycle, anyone remember TND, Bond is being chased while in his Aston spins it to shoot at the vehicle chasing him, seen that in all sorts of movies, boat chase, seen that before.
What I did like, Mr. White's delivery, very confident and menacing.
What I didn't see, much atmosphere, which I thought was lacking in CR and looks to be lacking in QOS. Exotic sexually charged women, Solange was wonderful in CR, I didn't see anything like that in the teaser.
This idea that Bond is an agent that can't be controlled bothers me. It is not true to Fleming's Bond and it goes against the previous cinematic Bond. He may not have always liked his orders, but he always followed them. Yes, I know he didn't in LTK. He grumbled and made fun of his superiors, but given an order he followed it.
One last comment, the quick editing as seen in the trailer isn't Bond style editing, it is teaser trailer editing where they condense all the action into 30 seconds. I doubt the movie will be edited at that pace.
Everyone is now free to tell me why I am all wrong.

"My acting range? Left eyebrow raised, right eyebrow raised..."
Hard for me to condemn re-used elements when that's been going on since YOLT cribbed TB's plot. It's in how the elements are put forth IMO: poorly deserves all the yucks it gets; well deserves all the praise. Saw some uniqueness in that 1:51, it may turn out to be utter swill but somehow I think not. More of what CR started, but without the ponderousness, is what that trailer looks like to me. The revenge angle looks to be much better thought out than in LTK, which was barmy IMO, so I'm totally down with it in QOS. If the bad guy ends up trying to play one superpower off another or start WW3, I'll be pretty darn grumpy; but if he has a clever way of getting whatever it is he wants, that'll be alright then.
The Bond we saw in CR is back, and the action bits look pretty hot. And Mr. White is creepy. So far so good and as expected IMO.
Oh man. This just looks awesome. Based on this trailer the movie is not going to disappoint. As I suspected, it looks like we are going to get to see the dark side of Bond. I also get the impression that this movie will have a lot more depth and will make CR seem like an introduction. I just love the shots where Bond is wielding the MP5. BAD-ASS!
Make room for me guys. Although I found it exciting and am definitely happy to finally see it, I agree with Barry that it is lacking in atmosphere. It doesn't seem to have that glam, exotic feel of CR yet, and frankly I don't get what seems so Bondian about the trailer? Maybe I'm missing the elements you guys mean by that. I actually thought CR's trailer was much more Bondian even with the reboot.
I agree about Mr. White being great in those scenes, but am I the only one in the whole Bond community who likes Judi Dench as M??? That's a lonely planet too!
