Gauging interest in TWINE Q-Boat tie replica?

Hey all,
Some of you may remember awhile back I worked on recreating the design of the necktie worn by Brosnan during the boat chase of TWINE. Using photoshop, I wound up with a 27 meg TIFF file of the pattern which I was able to upload to zazzle.com for reproduction. HOWEVER, I was a little less than happy with the results as the back of the tie was completely white (uncustomizable) and the fabric was polyester.
Recently, I've been in contact with Magnoli about recreating the tie at a higher quality. With my pattern he will be able to make the tie in silk. Here's the catch -- with a smaller run he can only justify printing the image onto silk (still better than zazzle), but with a larger run he can have the color pattern woven into the silk.
If I can get a dozen of you guys to commit, he'll be willing to create it in woven silk, at a cost of $55 (includes shipping worldwide). For printed silk the cost would be $45... but for all the effort involved it'd be worth it to do it right the first time around.
For those interested, could you post in this thread so Magnoli can gauge the interest level?
Thanks guys!

I agree about the cost. Any respectable looking brandname tie nowadays costs at least $45, and this tie will also have the added benefit of being a unique design from a Bond movie.
For those with concerns about the source pattern I created, here is a picture of my zazzle.com printed tie: http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/4166/qboatpicwk1.jpg
That design was more of a prototype (just to see how my design would turn out)... if we go through with this I will start again from the photoshop drawing board and fix up some of the nagging quibbles I have with the details. Oh, and the final TIF design will be available to anyone who wants it, of course.
Lol this tie will elude me till the day I die, I swear!
I have been looking for the TWINE boat chase tie for years, and I live in London. I did try Turnbull and Asser but they didn't know what I was talking about. Do they refer to it as the TWINE tie (and the DAD for that matter?)
I will try again this weekend and ask for Felix (very apt). If I am unsuccessful then I would commit to TWO of the Manoli replicas at $55 each (oh I do love the strong pound!!) {[]
Remember though, that most of the staff there do not know which pattern they used in which film, many a time they have given me completely incorrect information and ties.
And don't ask for Felix, he's in the New York store
I called T&A NY in December and asked about the Bond reissues... the lady had NO idea what I was talking about, but someone (possibly Felix?) called me back and seemed far more knowledgeable on it. Unfortunately he told me the only ones he had left were the TND brown tie with the blue diamonds.
If any of you guys have any luck, let me know... otherwise I'm happy to move forward with the Magnoli replica.
He was kind enough to send me HIS personal DAD tie from his wardrobe at no charge. It has a some miles on it but beggars cant be choosers
Turnbull and Assers website only shows about 5% of the ties that they actually offer. The stores have thousands of the damned things, of which you'd only wear about 1% as they can be bloody awful designs
Would be nice to see the whole collection without a trip to New York.
I will try T&A on Saturday if I am in town. Thanks for the information on that. Otherwise I think I am a pretty safe bet for at least one of the Magnoli replicas.
BTW - just an aside; about the time TWINE came out I mentioned the tie to my Mom, just in passing, thinking nothing of it. She then went to TIE RACK and asked for "the new James Bond tie that Pierce Brosnan wears in the film". Needless to say she was laughed out of the store. Don't you just love Moms!!!!{[]
They have been like that ever since I have shopped there, which is about 15 years now. The shop staff are just awful, but the bespoke section around the corner is exactly the opposite, wonderful people. The absolute worst thing you can do in the Jermyn shop is ask for a Bond tie, the second is actually wear one whilst shopping there, twice I've had a sarcastic remark aimed my way by the older gentlemen that work in there.
My worst visit was during the winter of 2002 when I stepped in some chewing gum and stamped it all around the shop and into the plush red carpet. God that was embarrassing. I left pretty swiftly after mumbling some inane apology over my shoulder
Anyone else think we are all mad? {[]
LOL!
Ooh boy! What did they say?

That just burns me up when staff are like that in the more upscale stores. Way to go for tracking gum all over their store!:D
guys....not to look as though i'm sicking up for T&A, but doesn't this say TIE RACK ?....
but the stories were funny anyway
nothing coldheart-ed abt u my man
liked this...nice one...
Tie Rack, now those people have a problem!! Still, I'd bet a higher percentage of their ties are probably more wearable than T&A's
