Glad to see we are still going ahead with this project. I agree that this thread needs to be kept on the home page, and trust that we will ensure that is where it stays.

I don't have any pics of me wearing it unfortunately. And if I did, they would probably be bad anyway
I think what I find more exciting than the initial run for these ties is the fact that if they turn out well, we will have a resource for all bond fans (through Magnoli) to be able to obtain these ties, whether it's because you're an Asp who burns through them in a few months or someone who can't afford to buy the whole set at T&A or whether its just an issue of the fact that some aren't available anymore!
Some of these ties really are going to be extinct soon and there is some sense of preservation in these projects.
I personally thought it was a sort of dark dark purplish, but Asp assured me it's black. He's seen the collection and what colors were available so I guess he would know.
P.S. I haven't heard back from T&A yet, I'll drop them a line if I don't hear by the end of tomorrow.
Its definitely not that tie... the lines are much longer in the version seen in the movie (and also Asp's tie which I posted earlier in this thread).
T&A doesn't consider it a "Bond" tie though... Hemming just took it from the original T&A line, she didn't design that one specifically. That explains why it's still available 9 years on. I'll have to prod Kevin at T&A about it tomorrow if I don't hear back.
Simon,
Received a reply... he said the person who handles the fabric inventory at the factory was out yesterday, so he was only able to reach him today. Thus, the answer will have to wait until tomorrow.
I am guessing some of the ties may have been brioni, if you look in the backright of this photo you can see a tie hanging and its in packaging with Brioni logo. http://www.eh30.com/14.jpg

Simon, I've never seen that at T&A, because if I had I would have bought it, I have a penchant for red ties. I think you are right with Brioni.
Additionally, I've also worked on determining the placement of the pattern with respect to the bottom of the tie by taking the outline of an equally sized tie and overlaying it with the high-res pic, and then I tiled the pattern over the remaining outline. My results should be pretty damn close.
I'm pretty confident this is going to turn out well guys. Stay tuned!
Great guns guys! I can't wait.
Can't help thinking that we are all just a teeny weeny bit square by doing this, but still count me in anyway.
I am off to Paris on the Eurostar next week, 1st class of course so we'll get a meal just like Bond and Vesper in CR. Can't wait.
I will contact again when I get back to check for progress. {[]
Bad news: The herringbone tie is not in stock at their factory, nor is it in their London shop (they had their colleagues there check).
Good news: They can weave the tie at their factory, but it will take 6 weeks. There will be no surcharge, but there is a 2-tie order minimum ($150 US each).
I have no interest in paying $300 for two of them. I'm thinking I can either suggest to Kevin that I have a friend who is also interested in one, or I'll purchase both and you can pay me for one which I'll ship to you. If Kevin's okay with the first choice we'll preferably just do that.
Simon,
Update: Spoke with Kevin... he said he can waive the two-order minimum if he receives a order from both of us. PM me if you want to discuss further.
That's odd, as T&A NY asked the London shop to see if they had it in stock. But perhaps being aware of a possible Bond connection, they decided to be their usual unhelpful selves with all things Bond related
No news yet on the Magnoli ties... I imagine Asp or I will hear when the prototype is completed so we can provide some feedback. I don't think we'll hear anything for at least another 2 weeks.
Haven't heard from T&A either, but I didn't expect to... I was told my order was processed and the tie is in production at their factory.

Does anyone know if its the same as this or is this weave smaller? http://store.turnbullandasser.co.uk/Ties/Herringbone/Plain_Herringbone_Tie_in_Blue.html

The only Bond tie I was ever able to get was the "tank" tie from Sulka worn in Goldeneye.
I have several T&A ties (non Bond). They all seem to be cut thinner than the ones made for the films. Am I correct or crazy
Also, the shirts from T&A in the films have different collar shapes than what they have in their stores. At least what I could find.
Magnoli told me he's received Asp's swatch, so he'll be submitting both tie projects very shortly.
I've also asked Indy to make the tie with a DOUBLE tie loop just like T&A ties... (http://store.turnbullandasser.co.uk/Images/whatmakesimages/TheTAdoubleloop.jpg) as opposed to just a single loop like most ties (or worse yet, one which doesn't even use a piece of the fabric and just a label).
Additionally, I've also worked on determining the placement of the pattern with respect to the bottom of the tie by taking the outline of an equally sized tie and overlaying it with the high-res pic, and then I tiled the pattern over the remaining outline. My results should be pretty damn close.

Sound good?

I'm also interested in buying the "sort of dark dark purplish herringbone necktie", am I late for this?
Would you please e-mail me on this?
Thanks a lot in advance,

I'm pretty sure that Jermyn St has it, they had loads of them only a few weeks back, that range is one of the standard and best selling.
Also, I sent in my payment to T&A. Have you heard anything yet, urhash?
