I was reading on a Norman Wanstall over on MI6 (http://www.mi6.co.uk/sections/articles/interview_norman_wanstall3.php3?t=&s=) and it gave a great insight to making sounds for the early Bonds. Wanstall also hated working on Never Say Never again. Seriously worth a read. One part that really caught me off gaurd was this little bit...
Is that true, I seriously had no idea that Hunt was gay (or jewish or a mason.)
Does anyone else know anymore about this?
Without doubt the most memorable moment in our relationship occurred when a guy came into our cutting room moaning and groaning about how difficult it was to succeed in the film industry. As he finally left the room his parting words were….. “It seems to me the only way to get on in this business is to be Jewish, homosexual or a Mason!” As the door closed Peter and I fell about laughing because I was none of those things whereas Peter was all three!

But seriously, I just tried to find some information on Hunt, and it's difficult to dig up anything on him--and next to impossible to find something that doesn't associate him with Bond. There's a great deal about his work, but precious little on his life. I did read that he was survived only by an adopted son and a brother, so he apparently didn't marry. . .but what does that prove? Still, I did find a very nice interview he gave that has apparently been on the Net since Hunt was alive and kicking, as the author hopes Hunt will eventually direct another Bond film. It has a lot of interesting tidbits, including the information that Hunt was offered Never Say Never Again, but he didn't want to offend Cubby Broccoli! Here 'tis:

His sharp eye and talent helped raise those first Bond films from B-grade to A class cinema.
Bond’s Beretta
The Handguns of Ian Fleming's James Bond
His private life doesn't sway my opinion of his great cinematic credentials over the years.
Batman: "The Hammer Of Justice is UNISEX!"
-Batman: The Brave & The Bold -
Ben
Additionally, what I can see from the footages, he has been a man with visions and a very grateful man.
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
DAD had a director?
He was a great editor and talented director. The Bond films were lucky
To have him. -{
And was necroing a Thread from 2008 really necessary ?
In the cellars and daring to open a suspious, creaky door ...... We knever know
What we'll find ! )
It was on the original question. for instance the late Patrick Macnee, although
Always perfectly dress on film and TV, was a Nudist, but I don't think
It had any bearing on his acting.
Maybe not, but it did have a 'baring'...
At a nudist colony for intellectuals, two old men are sitting in the conservatry.
One turns to the other and says, ‘I say, old boy, have you read Marx?’
The other says, ‘Yes, it’s these bloody wicker chairs ! )

Good to see your Prez stepping up to the plate yesterday and giving same-sex partners the same marriage opportunities as everyone else. -{
And as miserable as everyone else ! )
It is a source of horror that Lee Tamahori is gay as well - what did we do to deserve him?
