Well, I said it was so, and here it is.
Where in the film the regular version will be used is still unknown. The 42mm Planet Ocean seems to be getting all of the arm-time at the moment. Looks like Omega will feature three different models in QOS. Wallets at the ready...

Please don't tell us, that the fact about 3 different Omegas in QoS does mean, we will be facing 3 limited editions....
That would make 6 Omegas on my shopping list then.....
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
Now, the 45mm Planet Ocean with rubber strap is a different matter. It's quite yummy. Some day she'll be mine. Gotta keep working those AMEX reward points.

Yeah, I think Omega does far better for Bond when it does it's own thing. I mean I'll always be a proponent for Bond and Rolex, but when Omega is different in terms of what Bond wears, that's when I believe they have winners. The blue Seamaster was a great design that set itself apart from the somewhat staid look of the Submariner. Although I held off buying mine until the advent of DAD, there was no question that it was a gorgeous watch not trying to ape the Submariner. Same goes for the out sized Planet Ocean. It looks rugged, particularly on the rubber strap and fit particularly well the re-vamped image of Bond as a former SBS operative. I like the P.O. much less on the metal strap. The rubber strap gives it its own character. Just my opinion of course, but the 45mm P.O. with rubber strap and without the 007 branding is the best watch of the Craig era thus far.

I don't think I care for the Seamaster in red.
Also...is this just me or do others feel the same way...I would never wear one of these limited editions that had "007" plastered on the face or on the second hand. I think if they simply did a different caseback that would suffice. I would feel rather foolish wearing the "007" emblazoned face or second hand. Just my two cents...
I have a limited edition Speedmaster that came out in 1999 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The face looks the same as the regular Speedmaster and the caseback had the Apollo 11 mission patch instead of the traditional Speedmaster caseback.

I concur, the 007 branding all over the place leaves me cold. To me it screams nerd boy. And, while we're on the subject, items are rare and limited because a confluence of events made them so, not because someone said lets make only so many. Golden Age and Silver Age comics are rare because most of them did not survive the paper drives of World War II, not because someone conspired to make only so many. It's why I find the whole idea of limited edition Bond Omegas a lot of nonsense.

The Planet Ocean with a rubber strap, now thats a watch (minus the 007 branding).
As ASP9mm said, we will see the watch in the movie (certainly not with a 007 logo hand) and somewhere, I did read (aaaahhhh ASP9mm also said this), that it may have a black dial with the wave pattern just like the blue SMP.
I understand, that many people find the 007 hand ridiculous and it is, if you take this all very seriously. On the other hand, the limited editions should have something different to the civil versions, that is visible, and under these circumstances I can live very good with it. I have so far purchased all limited editions and keep them unworn in my collection.
just to give you an example: There used to be a limited Batman BVLGARI watch a couple of years ago, with a Batman logo on the dial.
This makes the same no-sense like a 007 logo, but it is a very searched watch though under Bvlgari and Batman collectors.
But something else strikes me: How could the pic and the article leak out from Omega. Still there is nothing official on the Omega webpage and it used to be a big premiere beginning of april in Basel. So, how did these denish guys get the infos on it (what they wrote is obviously more or less 1:1 an Omega PR text...)

i sincerely hope the non-branded version has the same dial as the collectors version (i.e. no wave pattern) - it would be nice for it to be quite distinct from the previous version - admittedly, blue vs. black is a distinct difference but id also like the smoother dial...here's hoping
I think the photo is a fake based on what people have said the watch will look like.
Because it is, because I know, and because they have released the news officially...
Hah, he knows nowt. Omega had an official press release yesterday {[]
James Bond 007 Collector’s Piece is back . . . in black!OMEGA presents the new version of the Seamaster Diver 300m James Bond which collectors and fans have treasured since 1995.
PRESS RELEASE:
For the past decade, Her Majesty’s Secret Service agent 007 has been wearing an OMEGA Seamaster watch. Fans of the iconic spy, along with enthusiasts of fine watches, wait in anticipation of each new version of the timepiece.
Their patience will soon be rewarded. OMEGA will be releasing a special update of the incredibly popular Seamaster Diver 300m James Bond watch which has been worn by 007 since GOLDENEYE.
The « James Bond 007 Collector’s Piece » is the most elegant version yet and the next step in the evolution of the Seamaster Diver 300m James Bond watches.
Anyone familiar with the classic James Bond’s watch with its trademark blue bezel will be in for some surprises!
Visually striking, the « James Bond 007 Collector’s Piece » features a polished, lacquered black dial with black gold plated hour markers filled with white Super-LumiNova. The luminous hour and minute hands are also plated with black gold. The watch has a central seconds hand with a red tip and a red “007” logo as a counterweight which rotates in stark contrast to its black dial. Only 10,007 pieces of this exclusive Seamaster will be produced. Paying tribute to OMEGA’s long partnership with the world’s favourite secret agent, it is destined to be an instant collector’s item.
The watch has a distinctive polished and brushed stainless steel case with a diameter of 41 mm. Its specially-designed bracelet is unique to the James Bond watches and is one of the features which makes them immediately recognisable. The watch has a scratch-resistant, anti-reflective domed sapphire crystal.
The « James Bond 007 Collector’s Piece »is not only aesthetically dazzling. James Bond would be disappointed with any technology that wasn’t the most advanced in the world and this watch meets his most exacting demands. It features OMEGA’s calibre 2500 self-winding movement fitted with the revolutionary Co-Axial Escapement, which reduces friction while offering better long-term accuracy, and it has a power reserve of 48 hours. Its free-sprung balance further increases the precision.
The watch is a certified chronometer with functions essential to professional divers. Its screw-in case back (with a “007” medallion) and stainless steel screw-in crown featuring an OMEGA logo ensure water resistance. The watch also has a unidirectional rotating bezel with a distinctive black aluminium ring. A helium escape valve allows helium atoms to escape during decompression, particularly useful for professional divers operating from diving bells. As its name suggests, the watch is water resistant up to 300 metres.
The presentation case is nearly as striking as the watch itself. Crafted from black leather, its black interior calls to mind the lining of the tuxedos which are as synonymous to Bond as the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300m watches he’s been wearing for more than a decade.
While some of the advanced features will appeal particularly to divers, the « James Bond 007 Collector’s Piece » will prove irresistible to fans of 007 and to anyone interested in elegant, distinctive, state-of-the-technology watches.
The newest film, Quantum Of Solace, produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for EON Productions and directed by Marc Forster, will be released internationally in November 2008. Daniel Craig will reprise his role as James Bond for this 22nd film in the Bond series.
