TND tie interest thread

Due to urhash gauging interest in the TWINE pattern has lead to Magnoli contacting me about various tie patterns. I do have the original pattern tie from Tomorrow Never Dies used in the Carver 'Tomorrow' paper factory break-in and the BMW car park chase etc. This is the most prominent Turnbull & Asser tie used in the Bond films and Magnoli will be willing to copy it for you. There is nothing in it for me, save supplying Magnoli with a piece of the tie for the best replication. Please post here if you are interested, it will be far less than the cost of a T&A tie.

In my honest opinion, this is the best tie worn by Brosnans Bond and is timeless. It goes with grey, black, and blue suits and is beautiful.

Here is a few box-brownie shots...

    I'm in for one! :)

Oh, and for those who aren't aware, the point of gauging interest is because Indy would prefer about a dozen commitments before he can justify the cost of replicating the tie in woven silk as opposed to just a printed design. So the more the better!

This actual swatch is from a screen used Turnbull & Asser tie too, so you cannot get more accurate than that. I highly recommend anyone who is into Bond fashion and prop replicating get on board now so Magnoli can gauge the interest and so get the best option in accuracyv and materials for replicating this tie.

This was Turnbull and Assers best selling tie and was made in very limited numbers compared to the following TWINE and DAD ties. I wore it for ten years and want more, so please, post, post, post :)

Here is the tie that my 'bits' came from. I sold this some time ago on Ebay for a fraction of the asking price now.

    $3821 wtf?!

Oh Asp, since it seems you're only sending Indy a swatch, do you have measurements of the tie you will be able to send him?

I certainly do. I have also dug up an old picture of me from 1999/2000 New Years eve in Indy gear getting ready to party, the tie in case is in the back ground to the right in what used to be my old bedroom.

I have no idea how much Indy will charge for a woven tie. I'm sure once that he gets the original material from me he will be able to give you a better idea.

Count me in. Wouldn't mind seeing a replica of the red tie that Bond wore in the Hong Kong hotel scene in DAD.

    Count me in too.

BTW, www.bondcollectibles.de prices are always sky high - recently they acqured the 500K Casino Royale Plaques for about $800 and now the asking price is $4000.

Asp, can you give a more specific price than "less than T&A"?

    Anyway, I'm interested.

This is terribly exciting! I can't wait :)

I count 5 so far... me, texas007, coldheart, and I believe asp told me he was in for 2.

Another detail for those who haven't read the other tie project thread... Magnoli's tie will cost $55 (which includes shipping worldwide)

Again, I will make the same offer I did with your TWINE endeavor. I will buy 2 ties and donate one to the moderators to raffle off to an AJB007 member who may not currently be in a position to purchase the tie. What do you say Paul, think we could make that happen?

How did you manage to get your hands on a screen-used tie back then?
  • Asp9mmAsp9mm Over the Hills and Far Away.Posts: 7,535MI6 Agent
I use to know someone who worked in the costume department and they used to get me quite a bit of stuff back then. Unfortunately they moved to the US to work for Pixar.

Count me in. Any chance of getting the tie he wears upon arrival in Germany? I think it is copper and blue.

That is a beautiful tie, unfortunately I wore mine out years ago. Had a nasty habit of pulling due to the weave.

Lucky you! Too bad you lost your valuable contact in the industry. I wish I knew someone who worked on the Bond movies.

I'd buy the 2 ties of the one "he wears upon arrival in Germany" in TND.

Yes it is, the original screen used swatch is well on it's way to Magnoli, as well as several pictures of the whole tie and measurements to give you the absolute bestestest replica. Stay tuned for more info.
