Yup, not one I'd have thought filmable- The Property Of A Lady is just slightly more commercial.
QOS at least has some mystery to it. There's already been discussion as to what the title means, very similar in the 80s when The China Syndrome came out. Nobody knew what that meant but they learned, Property of a Lady is just very boring, no intrigue to the audience.
Risico: rather non-PC these days, but I suppose they could change the context slightly, make it less of a language mistake by an English-is-not-my-native-tongue character. ;%
The Property of a Lady: about as evocative as TSWLM, but hey that film turned out kinda alright.
Never felt a thing for Rarity, just too cumbersome.
As for the made up ones to date, only DAD is a real stinker, LTK and TND (less so, but I still like it) have always sounded okay to me. Actually DAD wouldn't be so bad if I didn't always hear Madonna chirping it in my head, lol. And look at DMC, best non-Fleming Fleming title ever (with a nod to CS, which while nothing too special works fine IMO).
Original titles can work, just need some good minds coming up with them. I'm kinda curious about what/how EON moves forward after the likely story titles are used.
All though with the reboot going on if they wanted to marry Bond again. They could us Property OF A Lady.

Doesn't EON also hold the rights to the Gardner Bond books? I always thought No One Lives Forever was a good title (and not a bad book, either). Probably wouldn't be too hard to work it into the title song either.

I agree with Tony, that would be a good title and it was also Gardner's best book.
Action This Day isn't bad either.
Movies named after the bad guy have been fairly succesful DN, GF, maybe they could use Colonel Sun (probably don't own the rights).
As a side note a couple co-workers came in my office the other day and asked me what the name of the new Bond movie was. When I told them they looked at me like this and asked what does that mean, I told them it was a Fleming short story, but they both thought it was an awful title. I think most folks will refer to the movie as "the new Bond movie".
I agree. I tell people the new title is QOS and they either a) dont believe me or b) ask what the hell does that mean?

I'm as surprised as anyone that they're using QOS- in context, it works ok (sort of), but the average movie goer is going to be baffled. As far as the Gardner novels are concerned, I think there are a number of excellent titles out there, "Role Of Honor" and "For Special Services" come to mind.
It's just too bad that they already used "Shamelady" for a fan-fiction movie. Great title.-{

All this hassle over titles makes it seem even odder that Micheline Connery came up with Never Say Never Again just off the cuff.
It's not my fave title but it does have a certain poetry and it gets namechecked more than any other since the 1970s.
I really like Never Say Never Again, especially since it was an unofficial film. It's a bit of a tongue-in-cheek title, and if the film was official, I don't think it would have been appropiate. But for Connery's first Bond film in 12 years, and as an unofficial film, I think it was great.
