Another poll of "Who was James Bond when you were born" created from Uncyclopedia!

Kids are now 3 years old when Daniel Craig confirmed the role of James Bond. Craig confirmed his Bond role on October 14th, 2005. That day was also Roger Moore's birthday.

I was born two months before The Living Daylights was released. I am proud to have been born into the Timothy Dalton era. However, like all people born then I grew up with Pierce Brosnan. My two sisters were born during the "Dark Ages of Bond" in 1990 and 1992. My parents were both born before Dr. No was released.

People who were born between 1990-1993, Timothy Dalton was still in his James Bond contract until 1994. Then Pierce Brosnan signed in for the role in June of 1994. Example: Miley Cyrus was born in the Dalton era, that is 1992, two years before Brosnan took over the role.

The "Dark Ages of Bond" happened again in 2003 until October 2005, but Pierce Brosnan was still in his Bond contract until directors fired him in 2005. Then on October 14, 2005, Daniel Craig confirmed his role as James Bond.

I was born in 1960, 2 years before Connery lit up the screen as 007. The only filmic Bond up to that time had been Barry Nelson.

There were no James Bond movies in existence when I was born.I had to wait until 1964--to see my first 007 film:Goldfinger. And later that year I saw the From Russia With Love/Dr.No double bill.A year afterwards,Thunderball arrived in theatres.

I was 13 years old at the time. :)

The first Bond film I remember was TND probably. I was born during the 6 year gap so the first would have been Brosnan. Who for the next 5-10 years would be Bond to me. I definitely think that your first Bond always affects who your favorite is. Though mine has to be Sean Connery.

Born 1979, which means I was born right during the height of the Roger Moore era.

First Bond film I remember seeing on its first release was the Living Daylights. I remember AVTAK as being the first Bond I saw on VHS.

Born 1969 -so it George Lazenby - OHMSS is still one of my favorite Bond films even now. Although I grew up with Roger Moore at the helm and loved his movies when I started reading Fleming at about eight or nine years old I knew that Roger's portrayal wasn't exactly what you would call faithful to Fleming's character - I then appreciated Connery more. Although as for being faithful to Fleming -I'd say Craig has come nearest.

    {u}THE SPY I GREW UP WITH{U/}

My first encounter with James Bond was seeing FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE in 1963. I was ten years old and already a big movie fan, but this movie was unlike anything I had ever seen before.
Oddly I had the comic book tie-in for DR. NO the year before but somehow it didn't register.

The following summer United Artits released DR. NO and FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE on a double bill with the ad line James Bond is back. . . to back. Wow. Seeing FRWL again was a pleasure and catching up with DN was a thrill. To this day it was the best saturday afternoon I ever spent at the movies.

And then, the following Christmas, GOLDFINGER was released as an exclusive engagment at Manhattan's
DeMille Theatre. It was my first "Downtown" movie and the line - all adults - went around the block. I felt very grown up and sophisticated. The movie was a smash and it's hard to convey to today's fans just how big this was. It really was the "Star Wars" of it's day with spin offs and mechandizing quickly following suit. Bond was everywhere and on everyone's mind. I started reading all of Fleming's books around this time.

Next Chrsitmas it was THUNDERBALL which opned "wide" that is in as many theatres as possible. That was a first for a major studio release and set the pattern for today's opening weekend stratergies. The movie was also great but some friends found it boring in parts. I, however, kept the faith, and marveled at its Bahama locations and beautiful underwater photography. It was like a dream vacation with adventure thrown in.

Two years and countless imitators later, YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE opens in the summer of 1967. This movie was heralded by an absolutely stunning billboard in Times Square (The biggest in the world at the time) depicting a tryp-tech of images from the film. The most awesome being what semed to be a battle in a volcano with Helicopters, guys climbing down on ropes, a rocket with a big red star on its side, Bond himself clingling to the outer rim...Holy nmother of God what was all this??? I stared at the billboard for over an hour until my cousin dragged me away. As for the movie. . . It did not disappoint. While some of today's fans hold it in far less esteem, I absolutely loved it and on the big screens of the day it was a spectacular visual experience that easily dwarfed all its competitors. No one did it better.

Two years later and the culture is rapidly changing but Bond goes on... sort of. Connery is gone but ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE is an absolute triumph for any true Bond fan. In fact, for me, this is the last real Bond movie and the last to convey that special flavor... a certain feel that was exclusive to the Bond films of the era. There would be other Bonds to be sure and many of them noteworthy and fun for various reasons, but sadly for me it was time to grow up and while I still dutifully go to every new Bond movie I am left only with a Quantam of Solace.

Another Lazenby era baby in this forum.

I consider 1969 as Sean Connery era because he returned in Diamonds Are Forever after directors fired Lazenby. So even George Lazenby was temporarily James Bond, Sean Connery was still reigning as Bond in that year. I don't think Lazenby has a Bond era.

I call George Lazenby as the substitute James Bond.
