The Sun spoilers today

The Sun seems to be the choice of red top for Bond news.

Spoilers ahead! Ready?

1) Bond romance
Bond doesn't seduce his leading lady Olga, says Mickey Wilson in a nib in today's Sun. "It wouldn't be right to have Bond go from one relationship into another so soon," he said. Just as well it's only one hour after the last film that QoS starts, otherwise two years in one hell of a drought.

2) Theme tune singer.
Amy Winehouse goes into the studio with Mark Ronson to do the theme this week. They're going to busk it apparently, not having any solid ideas.

3) An Olga interview in the central spread. Mentions how she got married at 20 to a French photographer "but there was no love involved," says her mum. It lasts two years, but Olga is able to travel the EU and work there because of her visa. The Sun is uncharacteristally silent on this immigrantion loophole ruse.

I wont believe this rumor until we are given some official confirmation. And doesn't Mr Arnold usually work with the chosen artist in composing the title theme? (except Madonna ofcourse - she didnt need any help! :v)

"they are going to busk it ...." ?

This expression is new to me. Does it mean "try different things and see what works", perhaps?

Or it could mean they are going to sing on street corners, until some old lady tells them she like what they are singing.

Well there are many themes recorded each time that aren't chosen- lots of people make a song and pitch them to Eon. If Ronson and Winehouse are doing something, it might just be a pitch. Or if it is happening, perhaps they just didn't mention Arnold being there.
There's not really enough in this story to comment on, apart from Ronson's name being in there, which I think is the first time we've heard that. I'd be very excited if this is true.

"Busk it" means they haven't written it yet, so they're gonna throw things at the wall and see what sticks ie improvise, make it up, brainstorm etc

I confess I know nothing about Amy Winehouse---I haven't even heard the much-ballyhooed 'Rehab' song in its entirety (I might have heard a snippet somewhere). My fleeting impression was that she has an interesting voice.

All I've seen are photos, and I must say she's the most unattractive pop singer I've perhaps ever seen. She looks like she should be working the controls of a 'Tilt-A-Wirl' ride at the state fair... :o

ha ha ha ha busk it!

I think she's a really good choice though, some of her style harks back to the 50s. Nice touch!

I just posted this in another thread but I just found this trailer

Im really have trouble buying into the Amy Winehouse rumour. I think shes talented and so forth...but that doesnt mean shes doing the title.

After all, thousands of people have been attatched to Bond projects and never appeared in them. The Olsen twins were said to appear in Quantum. Indian Actress Ashyarria Rai was said to be the main girl in Casino Royale. And they were all reported in some newspaper (probably the Sun) as being already signed.

Mark Ronson has conirmed that he's working on one with Winehouse: http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/shows/music_week/

Doesn't sound like it's one that Eon have chosen yet, but more of a pitch. I hope we get to hear it at some point.

Here's the BBC report. He says that Winehouse was asked to do it, even though it's not a confirmed entry. Sounds positive:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7371949.stm
Amy Winehouse is working on a theme song for the forthcoming James Bond film with Mark Ronson, the producer has confirmed to the BBC.

But Ronson said there are no guarantees the track will be used for Quantum Of Solace as they have not been officially signed up to release the song.

"Hopefully it will get used. We're working on it and we'll see happens," the producer told BBC 6 Music.

Ronson also said he is working with Winehouse on her new album.

He said it was Winehouse who was first approached about the Bond theme tune.

"They asked Amy, and I think Amy said that if she did it, she'd want to do it with me. So hopefully something will come of it," he told the station's Music Week's show.

"The demo sounds like a James Bond theme, hopefully. But I don't know if it'll get used."

He added: "I'm sure there are loads more really famous people that probably we're competing with and we don't know about. I'm not sure.

"But hopefully I'll still be alive for at least 12 more Bond themes. If we don't get this one maybe we'll get another one."

Contact Music is running with this story...time to take it to the bank! :)

Seriously...if true, I might have to give her a listen...as long as it's 'audio only' :(|)

Well it is true as the link above has audio of Mark Ronson confirming it- you can't get more confirmed! And the BBC don't exactly run made-up tittle tattle! :D
That's not to say that it's definitely the song or artist we'll be getting with the film, but it sounds positive. He even says that Eon asked Amy (although of course they could have asked others too).

And pretty much all songs are 'audio only' I think... ;)

Yes, em...I actually clicked on that link! 8-) It was a joke about Contact Music's journalistic reputation. Never mind.

Well...for about 25 years they've had this newfangled thing called a 'music video'...perhaps you've seen one. MTV used to show them...a girl by the name of Madonna once made something of a name for herself by avoiding 'audio only,' I think... ;) And there are these rare but remarkable instances of recording artists performing live, and recording these performances in a visual medium.

Pre-emptively, what I meant to say is that I'll just listen and not watch Ms. Winehouse, as I find her fairly creepy looking :s All I ask of Daniel Kleinman is that he doesn't give Ms. Winehouse the 'Sheena Easton treatment' in the titles sequence...

Yep- got that; it's just that usually the use of the word 'seriously' implies that you've finished joking. ;) Follow 'seriously' with 'if true..', that rather implies that one may not be certain that something is true or not...

Songs have music videos- you're quite right. Notice how they're two different phrases, though- 'song' is the audio bit, 'video' is the, er, video bit ;)

Yeah I know- I was just joking with you ('never mind' etc. ;) ), and that's fair enough. I think she's got an interesting and unique look, but it's not one I'd neccessarily go for! :D I doubt we'll get the Sheena treatment, as you say!

Out of interest, is Mark Ronson well known in the US? I know he's pretty much more American than he is British, but I get the feeling that he may be a bit more well-known here. Is that right or way off the mark?

I've never heard of him. But he might be quite famous...I'm admittedly pretty out of touch with pop music these days. If he and Ms. Winehouse get the gig, I look forward to hearing what they come up with. It will be the first Amy Winehouse song I ever hear---and I'll probably like it, since there are no Bond themes I despise...

I think it shows the signs of being Bondy in a very nice way. Try it, you might like it.

And you can even minimise the window so you don't have to harm your sensitive little peepers by looking at her! :)

Thanks for the tip...I can see why people are excited by her voice, which comes off as very 'Shirley Bassey.' Seems like a natural fit for Bond, I must admit...

I stand by my earlier post, however---'audio only' is vastly preferable :(|) Voice aside, she looks like she ought to be operating a Tilt-A-Wirl for a carnival somewhere.
