Here are photos of the location they will use (I'm VERY proud for having deducted from the start they'd have gone there... well, inevitabily so since it's one of those roads you can't find anywhere else.. it has a brethtaking setting)

This isn't where the stuntman had the accident today and ended up in the water with the car, but I'll try and get an image of that later. The accident happened further down the Gardesana, in a place that is much easier to drive to than this one in the photos.. which has me worried, because if they had such a bad accident down there, what are they gonna do when they drive up these roads here?! :O The night tv news just showed the car being taken out of the water... it was a wreck! :O Thank goodness the stuntman was saved but it was bad, he was trapped in the car.
Also, today and Thursday were the only days when they had decent weather to film (man, never seen such a BAD spring here, it keeps raining!!) so I'm assuming they're trying to do the more as possible now. No more closing the road until Monday (impossible to do it on Sunday since it's a big tourist day), but from tomorrow the weather should get much better, so they should be all set.

And another thing: I'm not sure whether this is common knowledge already or not, but what they're filming here, the car chase, is the pre title sequence. Supposedly it should be about ten minutes of footage in the movie between car chase and rest.
For those who asked about weapons: the weapons arrived from England, they're obviously replica weapons, and were escorted by police on set here (police by law had to check that they were effectively inoffensive). I do not know what kind of guns etc they have brought over but I should be around the set on Tuesday, I'll do my best to find out.

Some kind of unobtrusive and small camera may be called for. Try to get to know a couple of guys called Joss Skottowe or Richard Hooper of Crownetower {[]
The road looks a lot like the Kalanianaole Highway on the leeward side of Oahu, Hawaii. I used to make that drive everyday in my Mustang.
I would love to drive that road in Italy, especially in an Aston Martin. A high performance car on lakeside or seaside roads are exhilarating.

Why thank you Loeffs darling :x
I didn't have time to drive by yet but I may tomorrow, anyway my parents said the guardrail alone was scary to look at, and thinking of ending up in the lake with a car isn't exactly my idea of fun (I'd say it's instead one of my recurrent nightmares ).
The stuntman lost control of the car because the road was a bit slippery due to the rain (though it wasn't raining when they were filming), and I think because he's not used to the narrow, "blind" turns we have here some places. That one isn't particularly bad honestly, which is why I'm worried about what may happen along the Tremosine road I posted photos for above. That is one VERY narrow road, and it is also high up above the lake, there are canyons and very narrow tunnels right after turns (as per photo above), and it's a steep path with a 10% gradient in some traits. Better call Q for some special remote assistant )

I don't think they were actually rolling cameras when this happened; other articles are saying the car was being brought in for filming. Hopefully, preparation and rehearsal will keep the rest of the production's DBSs out of the lake

No, I think the time for testing is long past. It's looking like these cars (they had five of them for the production, before submerging one ) are, indeed, a dark charcoal or black colour; an interesting development.
As discussed on previous pages of this thread, there might be possible artistic and storyline reasons for this.

Anyway, interesting that the film's title in Italian is "007 Quantum." Does that basically mean "A Bit of 007?" Where's Alessandra when you need her?
I've just gotta know!
Well...knowing how Alessandra feels about Daniel Craig, I suspect her response will be: "Very Little Bit Of 007!" )

As a former DB6 owner (a long, long, long time ago - beastly by today's standards but glorious at the time) and, despite appearances, a current Alfa Romeo owner, this story is strangely compelling.
Not least because the poor little 159 was dismissed as being no match for the mighty Bond-mobile. In retrospect the 4wd Alfa (I presume they're using the top of the range models) looks ideally suited to the conditions and the Aston is in the drink.
I'm sure they'll reverse the situation for the film proper.
Oh I dunno; I'm an Alfa owner myself but I think the Aston was just a victim of circumstance- it should beat the Alfa no matter the conditions and if it's got a good driver. Except if it had to go through some width restrictions or carry some shopping or something!
Well well, I'm an Alfa owner myself (147 1.9 JTD) and it depends on what we're talking about. As far as speed and, how can I say "brilliance" of the engine, the Alfa is second only to a Ferrari )
Seriously, comparing the same engine power, no way the Aston is an easy winner with an Alfa. They'd be neck to neck

Hi! I have just returned from Lake Garda (where I live for part of the year). I managed to get up close to the Aston Martin and my nine year old son was given the chance to sit in it while they atrated it up. We got to meet some of the crew and Everyone was great.
I hae long thought that this road should be used for BOnd... it will make a great sequence and the location is very beautiful too. The car is not black but not even charcoal - somewhere between with a hint of steel. It is beautiful. We have a few souvenirs from the set too.
this is my first ever contribution!

Heh- but they don't have the same power! I've got a 147 myself, my boss has an Aston Martin (and his is 'only' the V8)- I don't stand a chance against him, no matter the conditions!
The 159 weights slightly more than the Aston and has much, much less power, doesn't have carbon cermaic brakes, doesn't have handling designed to win races... my money's on the Aston every time!

I saw the number plate on the car - not blacked out as appears in lots of photos. It is left hand drive too.
What "souvenirs" did you get? Was it a photo of the car?
