merchandising question

How come when Casino Royale was released (and the Brosnan films) their wasnt like a plethora of kids toys released like action figures, playsets and all that?, unlike the release of ironman and indy 4 which have loads of toys out promoting the film, im wondering if this will change with Quantum of Solace?

I think this is because Bond films tend to attract an older audience--ones who buy high-end collectible figures (such as the ones manufactured by Sideshow and which are meant to be displayed), watches, and other gadgets and gizmos that appear in the films. I really can't imagine a bunch of eight-year-old boys playing with their LeChiffre torture chamber playset, complete with knotted rope and neutering knife.

    :)) :)) :)) :)) :))

I thought toy makers needed to get a license to issue action figures from movies? If that's true, isn't EON (or whoever) really strict about the Bond image and logos?
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope

I think that the new set of Corgi action figures from both CR and QoS are looking fantastic - asthetically pleasing, but also affordable. (There's a preview link around, I'll try and seek it out.)I hope we see them in stores soon.

I've never been a great fan of the sideshow figures, dolls in fabricated clothing have always appeared shoddy to me, I've always preferred the entire model to be sculpted.

Now give us the trailer already!

I think that Craig was a bit of an unknown quantity back then too, they didn't know how to present his look with the usual iconic gun in hand pose, (which, as I understand, Craig still hasn't done) on the packaging.

They usually do the packaging around the trad Roger Moore/Brosnan iconic silouhette, but with Craig, nah, plus the gambling theme wasn't too original.

Just speculating, but of course if CR had been a sleeper hit more, all the failed merchandise can become a ball and chain, an embarrassment. They pitched it more as a Bourne film anyway, which doesn't have all that toy merchandise.
