You probably already knew that the Bond of the books drove a Bentley...but to remind everyone else Bentley & Penguin have hooked up to produce a
£750 limited edition of Devil May Care!
I want one.

Although at that price, I think that it is safe to say that this is the one Bond edition that I won't be adding to my collection!
But I'm sure they will sell out quicker than Bond could change gears.
Which, unfortunatley at that price, is about all I can do
For that kind of money they should throw in "Nick Nack" so he can turn the pages for you!
Bond’s Beretta
The Handguns of Ian Fleming's James Bond
But to afford it...I'd have to fire a member of my domestic staff... :v

You're right, Golrush007 - I don't like that idea at all X-(
Better than a book-shaped hole in a Bentley! Baddum-bump! But, seriously, I don't think there are holes in the pages. . .the write-up says that the Bentley is stored in a "secret compartment" in the binding. . .I would imagine there's a pocket inside the front or back cover. And in the picture the car seems to be resting on a page, not in it. Not that any of this inspires me to take out a bank loan so I can buy the blasted book. . .

I'm still stumped at the edition amount and the price that comes with it. I can understand collectible pieces fetching $300 (such as Sideshow Premium Format statues) or even higher for 1:1 scale prop replicas, but these represent value and somewhat attainable prices that many hard-working Bond fans are willing to bust the piggy bank for. But how much does this book cost in US dollars, around $1,500 or more? To me it just seems so anti-fan.
I have the book on preorder for the cost of a steak dinner, which is a value I'm willing to splurge for instead of waiting for the paperback. But if anything I hope that somehow an inferior version of this 1/43rd scale locomotive is offered at a more reasonable price. What would make it reasonably "inferior" to statisfy the publisher's snobbish stance (and yet poise itself for additional income)? I got it! Instead of the pewter for the limited edition books, use material commonly used for diecast scale models. A regular paint finish would certainly be cheaper than a layer of pewter, but not to totally make a debased version of the pewter model, maybe add detailed markings, chrome finished plastic doodads to represent door handles and bumpers, and miniature passengers (Bond and a girl) like the JB Car Collection...I'd settle for something less like that and will have no choice but to bear the angst of missing out on the pewter version as something I'll never attain in this lifetime

Wow, these on the other hand really do look good! But, um, not for thousands of pounds...

Lucky bloody you
If I got one my wife would have me broke down )
My boss just bought a new Bentley, should have asked him if they'd have thrown the book in for free )
Zencat, did you ever post a review about the actual model? I'd love to see close up pics, esp. from the top, rear, etc. and also your own estimate on how much the model captured the custom aspects of the "Locomotive."
