QoS Black Jacket
The Bond Experience
Newtown, PAPosts: 5,490Quartermasters
In putting my next article together, QoS On A Budget, I found an incredible substitute for the black jacket you see Craig wear in many behind the scenes shot. This jacket has the same type of pockets, same zipper color, same style collar and even the sleeve cuff shape looks the same! Best of all it is on sale for $48.00 but when they are gone they will be GONE! WARNING: I usually take a medium with these jackets to get a fitted look but actually wound up buying a small! The small fit very well (fitted) and the sleeves fell to the correct length. For those that do not have a GAP by you here is a link to the jacket I am referencing. Ignore how the pictured model looks in it, the length of the actual jacket matches the screen one very well...

Oh there are GAP shops, sorry. Just not an online website. I'll check it out next time I'm in town, but i guess it's unlikely that they'll have it. I've never noticed it before in there.
Never know, might be lucky!
Good quality!
It TOO is now $39.99 at BR Outlets!
No, it's just a "close-enough" replica of a similar jacket that he wears in the upcoming film "Quantum of Solace".
Just ordered the Banana Republic jacket for same price (plus $5 shipping and 5.75% DC sales tax). The outlet in Leesburg, VA, just outside of DC, has a bunch. (703) 443-9860
The salesman I spoke with over the phone tried on the small for me and said it was too snug, tight. He said he is 5'8" and wears a 42 suit coat. Since I am not as big at 5'7" and a 38, I took his advice and ordered the small.
Will post again once it arrives...
What sunspel shirt size do you wear? I fit into a large perfectly, and I am 6'1" 192# with a 42 jacket.
I got the Banana Republic jacket, and it is a great item, except it is too long. The best way for me to describe it is the difference between a 38 and a 38S suit jacket. The bottom of the jacket hits an inch below my hip bone. My shirt sleeve is 32.5, and the sleeves on this jacket come down to the knuckles of my hand, well past the thumb knuckle and wrist bone.
Since there is a Gap around the corner, I went immediately and tried on their small size version of the same jacket, and again, the jacket and sleeves were too long. Also, on the Gap jacket, I had about half an inch more on either shoulder. Therefore, I've placed an order for a Gap XS.
To compare the two jackets, the Banana seems to be made for cooler weather, as it has a more substantial lining. The Gap is more of a shell, and even lighter-weight. Both have two inside breast pockets. The Gap version's right inside breast pocket buttons over the top, while the left is open. As Mantis already said, the Banana has button cuffs--a wonderful aestheic (but not necessarily functional) touch that I wish the Gap one had. Another feature unique to the Banana is the zippered outside pockets.
As for a picture of the Banana version, just go to the Gap link Mantis posted in the first place, and imagine a button on each cuff. The two jackets appear almost identical and the differences are subtle and more easily realized in real life rather than a 2D photo.
For what it's worth, years ago I came across a second hand jacket similar to the QOS one. It is adjustable with 2 buttons on either hip side, 2 buttons on each cuff. However, it has button epaulettes and is navy. I suspect the jacket is an old Air Force or other military issue jacket, since there is barely noticeable evidence of a rank patch previously sewn into an upper arm.
It is a cab ride from Liberty International/Newark Airport so if you are landing there - you could probably get in and out within the hour.
They seem to have a bunch of the BR jackets in stock and I picked myself up a large - fits snug like it should. Im 6'2" 192# and slim - the sleeves are actually slightly long and the waist is short. But the overall fit is good.
Then I got on my motorcycle and jumped off a dock in port newark onto a moving barge...
