Walther Valuation

Hi all, this is my first post. I have a Walther LP53 pistol (air pistol) that is identical to the pistol held by 007 in the Dr No posters. The pistol has been owned by me since new and is in pristine condition and comes with fitted case. I believe that this is collectible and would appreciate any views on a what it could be worth. Any comments appreciated.

Regards

Best way to gauge the market is to watch the auctions on Gunsamerica, Auction Arms and other internet firearms sites.

If it's any indication, I paid £40 for mine a few years ago.

Bought it at an "Arms Fair" (I use inverted commas because the organisers don't like to call it that and I can't remember the correct term that they use) at the Motor Cycle Museum near the NEC, as said, many years ago.

Sorry, but am not interested in parting with mine (unless I find another to replace it), it took me about 30 years to find one. I remember seeing it (prior to 007) advertised somewhere as a ten year old kid and asking for one for Xmas - the answer was a resounding NO! :))

When I moved out from under my parents and when I was able to think about buying one, could never find one. When I came across the one I now have, I remember the seller offering me a look-a-like (made in some Communist country, can't remember which) for half the price, but I wanted the real thing.

No bondtoys, LPs are not illegal in the UK. Gas guns and BBs, along with blank firers are also not illegal to own, providing they were obtained prior to the barmy new law we now have. Buying (or acquiring in any way) or selling (or getting rid of in any way) are illegal, unless one is part of a recognised skirmishing or battle re-enactment group.

However, there is one way in which we can still acquire the above gas/BB guns legally - they have to be painted bright fluorescent red, blue, yellow or green, or see through. Although we can still buy de-activated guns :s

As far as I know, the type of air pistol that the LP53 falls into, I believe are still legal to own, buy and sell - unless anyone knows better.

You are refering to Predom Lucznik single stroke air pistol 4.5 mm .177 cal. This is a Polish made copy of the Walther LP-53 target pistol. These were used by the Polish Army for training.
Significantly cheaper and certainly not as beautiful.

Thanks a lot Mark Hazard for setting some things straight about the ownership of air pistols in the UK ....

its good to hear something thats to our benifit for a change rather than .. No you can't own a powerfull toy ! young man...

I also knew that it was ok to own an air / gas gun but telling that to some people in the past has been very difficult . as they simply don't beleive you...

and before anyone flyes off the handle I am not refering to anyone of the forums. ok

I was thinking of making a replica from scratch a dummy display model... should'nt be too difficult.. however I would prefer the real thing as I go shooting with other guns now and then.. would love to test the walther LP-53

LOL....I had to laugh when I read your statement to say " not implying anyone on the forum " as in regard the gun laws with the gun etcc... I have noticed a certain person only a few paragraph's before from your comment that does tend to take things a little personal..LOL
Her bite is worse than her bark I believe !!!

ooooOOOOO your in for it now. old man LOL

    LOL

If I can't get a walther LP. 53 I am going to make a dummy display model from scratch pretty confident I will do an excellent job of it and if anyone wants one its not illegal its purely a display prop and can be sent anywear in the world.

I found my LP53 for €100, mint in box, in a local weapon store a year ago, I thought that was reasonable.

I must admit this was in Belgium, where the laws are less strict. No way to get anything even slightly resembling a gun in the Netherlands.

If you are a gun dealer by profession, you should be aware of the laws concerning handguns around the world. Active handguns are illegal in many parts of the European community (in which this website is maintained).

This forum is not one in which live handguns can be bought and sold. If you do so or advertise your "wares" again, your account will be terminated.
