Important Product Review

The Bond ExperienceThe Bond Experience Newtown, PAPosts: 5,490Quartermasters
As some of you know, there is a company that is selling a set of four "James Bond" sunglasses on http://www.jamesbondlifestyle.com/ and other sites. The company offers The DAD virtual glasses, the CR Vesper Versace Glasses, the TWINE X-ray blue specs and the black Thunderball Wayfarers. All of these sunglasses are 'replicas" of the actual ones and therefore are a fraction of the price. I decided to purchase all four of these in an effort to review them but also for the price I figured they were worth ading to the background collection as I own the CORRECT sunglasses for each of these representations.

To call this set poor would not be fair. One nice thing is the seller does NOT sell knockoffs of the brand sunglasses and there are no knock off or bootleg symbols of the original designers. These were meant to be "close enough" representations. And some of them are. Best among them is the Thunderball Wayfarer. The design and look is dead on to the original with , of course, no Ray Ban markings. They fit well and even from 10 paces look the part. The Vesper sunglasses have a sort of similiar color (an Oliver and brown) but the shape seems a bit off to me. Again sitting in the collection it might do the trick but compared to the right ones you can see the differences. The DAD virtual reality sunglasses have the right shape of the Oakley ones used in the movie but the color is a strange bluish as opposed to the black and grey, and of course the eyecups are not present (but can be added). Finally, the x-ray specs from TWINE are by far the worst which surprised me as they should have been the easiest to find. Not only are the lenses the wrong color but the shape of the orbits are elongated giving you a sort of DEVO look rather than a Bond look...whip it, whip it real good! Pass on these as I am sure ebay or other sites can net you a FAR better represntation.

ALL in ALL this is a fun grouping of replicas that doesn't take itself too serious and if you want to spend a sixth of what the actuals costs these would fit the bill...it depends on how picky you are etc. Feel free to ask questions...

The seller can be contacted at speservices@hotmail.com and if you tell him you are from this board the entire set can be had for $60.00 or you can break them up for $15 a piece....

Before anyone may come up with the idea to actually wear these sunglasses, just the note, that the lenses of US$ 15,-- sunglasses may harm your eyes because of a potentially missing UV-ray protection.

    Yes nice review... interesting...

It would be cool if the DAD virtual deality glasses lenses could move and slide to the left and right side like you see in the film...

Here is an interesting note which some of you may like to hear ... In DAD when John Cleese as Q take the glasses from Bond ... OO7 continues to cary the virtual relity Gun / pistol into the Quartermasters.. where all the old gadgets are housed...

You may like to know that the virtual reality Gun he was holding was the Playstation 2 light gun based on the Walther P99 designs... licenced by walther and here it is

please note if you are looking for this to go with the shooting glasses,,, it has to be the model with the box type laser built onto the front of the trigger area...

hope this helps ,,, a nice item to display next to the glasses...

also the aluminium case which Q uts the glasses and PLAYSTATION GUN INTO can be picked up for a lot of places... and the foram insert would be easy to replicate...
