I called and mentioned that I knew they had a herringbone tie on there site, but they used to make one in a larger pattern. I asked if it was still possible to get them. I was told it would have to be bespoke. I said I understand and how much would it be. I was put on hold and when they came back I was told that they can not do it.
I just couldn't tell if they thought I wasn't serious and brushed me off, or honestly are out of the fabric.
Any thoughts?
Off Topic: Has anyone call the Tom Ford store in NY and asked recently if they still have any of the ties used in QOS?
That's odd... the whole point of bespoke is that its made to your specs and request. Ask for Kevin Hill... he's a really helpful fellow at their ny store. also tell him you have 2 other pol participating in your order.
I signed up for the newsletter, which gave me the email address of Kevin Hill. I just emailed him and attached a .jpg of a swatch of the fabric in question. Lets see what his response is.
The Bad - ... "There is a four tie minimum as we have to weave the cloth in the scale you requested. The time to make the ties would be approximately 6-9 weeks as the mills are on holiday this month. The price for the ties would be $180 per tie."
I am assuming that there are still three of us interested. Is anyone else?
Four tie minimum? wtf! lol And why $180? Man, T&A US is getting out of control...
I think the cat is out of the bag that this was a Bond tie, but don't let them take advantage of you. I'd ask why there needs to be a 4 order minimum when their own newsletter even states 2 (as well as previous customers, myself included). I'm also a little dubious that they've raised the cost of their ties by $30 in an economic recession...
Urhash- If you have Indy make one of these then I'll take one. I'm a bit behind with my buys with Indy lately after a lengthy break from the internet and a while spent abroad but will be catching up over the next few days!
This is my first post here, though I have followed the forum for as long as I can remember. I think the tie is beautiful and if you still need a fourth person to make this happen, i'm seriously interested. My only concerns is that someone can mail it to me in th UK and that we get the longest length done, as I'm pretty tall.
I'd just watch the overall length of the T&A ties. 57" would likely be too short for anyone over 6', even if you're tying a FIH.
Look at Bond in the Bilbao scene—the tie is embarrassingly short. It amazes me they didn't go for a bespoke option.
I just looked at it again and I don't see any problem with the tie length. Perhaps your ties are too long? I'm 5'9" and the ideal tie length for me when tying a four-in-hand knot is 54-55". Brosnan is four inches taller, though four more inches of tie isn't necessary. A standard tie is just fine for him.

Just let us know if this works, ok?
Best of luck,

I forgot to put this up yesterday, http://www.mynewsletterbuilder.com/tools/view_newsletter.php?newsletter_id=1409990845, just thought you might want to have a look at the "T&A's Q&A" piece.
Best of luck dealing with T&A.

Silver herringbone is a sweet look though. I think Asp9mm has one from when he saw it in the Jermyn St shop.

UK based too.
Happy with the standard T&A tie length btw. :007)

From TWINE through DAD, Brosnan always had excellent tie knots and length. -{
