Balls -Golf balls to be precise! Picked up a slazenger 1 golfball today in a charity shop for 50p.

Isn't A Slazenger 1 the ball that Goldfinger uses and is substituted for a slazenger 7?

I bought it because rang a bell, and thought you'd like to know. :D

In the film Goldfinger plays a Slazenger 7, and Bond substitues a Slazenger 1.

In the novel, Goldfinger plays a Dunlop 65 Number 7 and Bond substitues a Dunlop 65 Number 1.

Bond plays a Penfold Hearts in both.

Funny you should mention this scaramanga1, I just picked up a 1950's Penfold Hearts on the eBay. Paid alot more than 50p though!

It's actually the other way around 7289, as Scaramanga1 originally had it. I watched Goldfinger a few days ago. :)

I'd like to get a Penfold hearts if I can -but I should imagine they are quite rare now.

Yeah! I did it, in my efforts to be "Mr. Informative" I switched the numbers of Goldfinger's golf balls.

All I can say is .... "balls"!

If anyone wants an old 50s/60's ball, I have one I'd be willing to part with for £30. Great condition, genuine period ball.

I have tried many specialty golf shops trying to find Penfold balls. No avail. I frequently buy Slazenger balls still though. Even bought a Slazenger golf bag too.

Actually, wouldn't it be fairly simple to make replicas of the Penfold balls? Aren't there companies who will print corporate logos on golf balls for promotional value?

As much as I'd love to have an authentic Penfold for a collection, I'd really like to have a whole bunch of expendable balls so I can drop a few on the golf course.

They sell some on the ebay, but at $25 apiece, I wouldn't care to go golfing with them.

I don't think it would be easy to make a replica of a Penfold Heart. That golf ball is slightly smaller than today's regulation golf ball. Not sure anyone would carry blanks in that size ball.

I have showed you this once before. But i just have to but it up this thread as well...
