Guys I was in a store the other day and purchased the cream/white 514's, next to these were dark blue 514. What struck me was the colour of the stitching in the blue 514, which was a silver colour. Check out this link for hi res picture, it shows silver stitching around the crotch http://www.allmoviephoto.com/photo/2008_quantum_of_solace_028_big.html
Given that the 501 has orange stitching and are not a slim fit I'm thinking that if they supplied 514 in one colour why not the same 514 in blue?
Wow ... very interesting. Good catch. Also, the fly area does not appear to have the tail tell signs of buttons that are on the 501. Also, I noticed that 514's are softer material then 501 providing are more comfortable feel.
i was browsing the Levis website this morning and noticed their eco Vintage Straight 539 pants in the color Birch look a lot like the ones Bond wears while jumping the dirtbike in the trailer for QOS.
i have been one of the sceptics about the dark blue jeans being levis at all but....i happen to be in london for a week and picked up a copy of Empire magazine that has Bond on the cover in a desert shot. it provides very good picture of three items
- TF, apparently, torn up jacket
- Omega PO ob metal band
- dark blue denim jeans
in this pic (at least to my eye) the stitching arond the crotch and pockets looks A LOT like typical levis colored and pattern of stitching.
I suppose it could be a publicity shot and NOT the jeans he wears in the film - but why wear the costum jacket if thats the case (plus, he is in makeup, which you would also think would indicate that he is in costume).
I really am coming around to the dark jeans being levis (though they may be different than the ones he wears in the photo with his shirt off)
The jeans in QoS really bothers me as Levis simply aren't Bond.
While I do understand that the character needs to be updated, I don't feel they've gone the right way with this. Personally I'd prefer him to be suited much more, which while isn't anywhere near as common as it was in the 1950s and 60s, really is James Bond.

I agree. I got the jeans, and they are nice indeed - but frankly I'm a little bothered at the notion that a bunch of other people are walking around in 501's with a blue polo and thus accidently dressing exactly like James Bond lol.
People can peg Brosnan as the dandy-Bond all they want, but Bond shouldn't be the everyman either.
These are very much brown suede boots, maybe John White. I might be able to identify which by looking at the sole. If anyone has a hi res close up that would help.
I agree with urhash in theory. Stylish casual clothes is one thing, but denim is another. I'm willing to wait and see the movie to discover the circumstances in which we find Bond wearing Levi's. I'm hoping at least the wardrobe is balanced as was the case in CR. We know in QOS we see Bond at the opera in a dinner suit. There are at least two other scenes with Bond in a suit so there is hope.
Indeed not - as I mentioned in another thread all (well, alot) will be revealed shortly on the QoS wardrobe shortly. I'm not being cryptic or secretive for the sake of it, it's just that it makes sense to nail exactly what things are to save a lot of messing about and guesswork. Mantis, Sruzgar and myself have been working very hard to get the right info. Once it's all in good shape, we'll share the lot.

Well, there is ONE more update that I can give you...you know those Sunspel polos from Casino Royale? Well, they are JUST used in Casino Royale...although Sunspel did send production shirts they wound up using a Sunspel as a pattern to make a similiar one at Tom Ford...similiar color, similiar texture, though different cloth.

Thanks M. Gotta love TF for originality. Bet those polos will be sold at $200 each!
Mantis, looks like we will need "QOS on a Budget" for sure. No one can afford these prices. Even if they could, they would have to be crazy to pay this much. I don't mind paying a little extra for a quality item, but come on this is nuts!
I wonder if this also addresses whether the suit at the beginning of QoS (as seen at the end of CR) was also a Brioni-like suit made by Tom Ford, instead of a reused suit from the CR wardrobe. I guess it would make sense if it was, given Ford's insistence on having name credit for everything even if he has to create his own knockoff of it (at ridiculously higher prices).
I think it may be. From all the pics I've seen, it's a navy pin stripe suit, but with no tie, waistcoat and a white shirt. At least some effort toward continuity was made whilst Mr White is shut in the DBS boot during the Aston Martin car chase.
In the midst of all the Tom Ford confusion, I just wanted to ask (as I haven't had time to keep up with the forums) - are the Levi's 501 tidal blues confirmed? Or has any new information cropped up?
The blue jeans are a bit of a headache to be honest.
The pair worn with the blue Tom Ford zip up jacket look alot like Dark blue 501s and the hotel room pair are different again.
But at this point we don't know for sure.

Duncan, surely your "insider" can supply these details as easily as other confirmations you have had? I believe in another post you refer to a being told something by Louise Frogley: wouldn't it be possible to simply ask - just for clarification?
At this time - other than Dave Z's info on the creme Levi's - all we've had is "yup, that was made by Tom Ford as well."
Well, the jeans have been and are being investigated by somone else. I did indeed ask, but in short the answer I got was 'can't remember where they came from' with regards the blue jeans. Leaves a lot of work to do. The Tom Ford thing is simply because a lot of of it actually IS Tom Ford.
Things that are NOT Tom Ford include - DCs shoes, jeans, 2 other casual jackets and probably more we haven't seen yet. As well as the villains and girls clothes.
If it's any peace of mind for people, the reason Duncan was allowed the dialogues he had with Frogley is because he is giving an exclusive to www.jamesbondlifestyle.com and he is penning an article with many more details.

And it is a fact that they were the ones used in the final production.

All the same, it's a cool suit.
