Bond 23 Title

While the QOS title has been a topic of much debate (you either love it or hate it), I happen to be in the camp that loves it. In fact, months before the title was announced, it was the title I was hoping they would come up with. Given the revenge theme that was hinted at I thought it was a nice tie in to a Fleming title.

Having said that, I would like to offer a title for you guys to consider for Bond 23. That title is:

PROVOCATEUR

Here's why I think it would be a good title:

It is a French term and we know that Vesper's boyfriend was a French Algerian. We do not know yet whether or not he survives QOS but if he does I would like to direct you to the Webster's definition of the word:

1. a person who provokes trouble, causes dissension, or the like; agitator.
2. (italics) French. agent provocateur.

Plus it has the letter "o" in it so they could put the requisite "007" in the title.

The Casino Royale theme is to follow a three movie arc I believe so it would be safe to assume that Bond would be after the Quantum organization in #23...what do you guys think?

In all honesty: I really don't see that as a possible Bond-title. Sounds a bit too corny.

There is no doubt in my mind that the third Craig movie will be called RISICO, and may well be his last.
  • FitzochrisFitzochris Posts: 242MI6 Agent
RISICO would stick to using Fleming's story titles, so it's possible.

How long they can carry that on is anyone's guess. I think after RISICO there's only 007 In New York and the Hildebrand Rarity to go at - neither of which are inspiring titles.

The new Foulkes book - Devil May Care - is a good title, however.

Whatever the title, it won't be Craig's last Bond. Did he not sign up to do four films?

RISICO, that is. I always wondered why they didn´t make a film called like that, sounds so good to me.

"The Property of a Lady" wasn´t used either (it appears in OP, but I read somewhere they toyed with the idea of calling like that a planned follow up to LTK in 1991 with Dalton, but it dind´t happen), and any title with "James Bond whatever" in it sounds like a Trazan movie (actually it was used in Spain for the translation of Goldfinger; "James Bond vs. Goldfinger" it was).

"Devil May Care" sounds good too.

I think the next one will be called "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", the movie won't follow the plotline of the book (they rarely do) but it IS a Fleming title.:)

I believe his signed contract is for three pictures...but how many Craigger does is really up to him at this point, as long as his Bonds continue to do half a billion dollars each! :007)

I hope that Eon can keep him interested with good scripts, etc., so that he ends up doing at least five.

As for a title for 23, I'd tend to agree that Risico seems the most likely at this point.

But then what happens when you're searching for Risico trailers on YouTube and you find all those clips featuring the last 30 seconds of Casino Royale or Rick Astley's "Never Gonna' Give You Up" instead of legitimate Risico trailers? :P

I also like the title Risico. And since the plot was used in FYEO I see no reason to hold back on it. Actually meaning Risk, I think it would hold up great with this new Bond as well.

I like Risico and Devil May Care with the nod going to Risico (I guess I now have a preference for the intermigling 007 in the title). A Fleming pedigree to boot so what's not to like.

By the way, I think Craig signed an extension back in November that will have him in a total of five Bond flicks (CR, QOS and 3 to be named).

True; but I think it's more of an option to do five, rather than something ironclad that commits him to a total of five pictures.

although I like the idea of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" being the Bond 23 title ('Chitty' being my nickname) I too think "Risico" will be the next title. "Devil May Care" has grown on me, originally I didn't care for it, I don't where to put the emphasis in the title...it comes out different from different people. Sometimes it's DEVIL May Care, sometimes it's Devil MAY Care or of course the slightly less popular Devil May CARE. There is also the DEVIL MAY CARE option. I'm rambling, sorry. ;%

I have mixed hopes with these producers - I hated the title tomorrow never dies, strongly disliked Die Another Day. They sounded like parodies of Bond movies rather than the real thing.

We could easily get a title like "nothing beats living" if they dont continue with their A game

I think once we see QOS, there may be some clue in the film as to what the title of 23 will be, assuming it is part three of a trilogy.

I don't know, guys, people are having a hard enough time understanding QoS, which is in English. Will Risico stand out?
  • leongpcleongpc Posts: 38MI6 Agent
yes, chitty chitty bang bang will make a good bond movie title. LOL. but they can also use another of ian fleming's book title - the 'diamond smugglers', a prequel to 'diamonds are forever'. 'thrilling cities' can be a title too. LOL

Yes Risico or The Hildebrand Rarity could be Fleming film titles.
Maybe it needs 2 x Os in it to put 007 across the title. Like Casino Royale and QOS. ? Of ? .
Some earlier book titles fit this rule.

The alignment was lost in submitting.
Putting the 007 in titles like DoctOr NO 7,

But not "Eggs On TOast" 7.
    Maybe "Crash Of AstOn" 7.

I doubt they'd go for the Hildebrand Rarity. It sounds too much like an Enid Blyton plot for the Secret Seven :))

I've always wanted Colonel Sun - the only continuation novel worthy of Fleming - just MY opinion of course.

I suspect they'll stick with a Fleming title like Risico, though The Property of a Lady certainly sounds less cryptic . . . and after Quatum of Solace, they may want something more immediate. Also, there's nothing to stop the producers from using a line or phrase from a Bond story rather than a title proper; didn't Fleming also title book chapters, as was the practice in those days? If so, then a title could come from there given the fact that the "sound" of a title seems more important than the film's plot having anything to do with the original Fleming story. I don't think I'm yet ready for a title from one of the non-Fleming books, as they are mostly crap.

They have talking about that Craig will may not return back as 007 in Bond 23! It looks like Craig has bad self-concidence.

Afterall Craig is a great actor, and I looks forward to see him in other films than Bond.

    There are 4 titles left

007 In New York (never gonna happen, although Bond 23 might be set in New York)
The Hildebrand Rarity (Not a good title for a film)
A Property Of A Lady (Nah, should be kept for the Bond 17 myth)

So it has to be Risico

Bond 24 will then be Devil May Care, exact remake although it takes the Craig timeline.

007 In New York - Quite a poor title, could've been used for LALD.

Hilderbrand Rarity, The - A good idea and title but I don't know how it could work.

Property of a Lady, The - It was referred to in OP but TWINE was referred to in OHMSS and that didn't stop it happening.

Risico - Well it woudn't make sense right now since Quantum are the main villains

    Colonel Sun it is :p

Took me a while to understand that, but I think you're referring to something that's been blown out of all proportion.

DC will be back in Bond 23.

I want the next film to be the quieter, sleuthy, classy Bond. Where he plays a sophisticated spy more than an action hero. More of an epic espionage film, like From Russia with Love, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, or The Spy Who Loved Me.

The title that really does that for me is The Property of a Lady. I think it also entails that Bond finally moves on and finds another woman. Or ten.
