This forum has struck me to be at its best when people who have seen Bond enter a bank in spain, or get off a plane in the Bahamas, or pull a gun in a train are stunned enough by Bond's style to go on a hunt of their own to find out exactly what the actor wore and where to get it or at least get a similar version of it.

That's why I come here. I have a Walther P99, some Brioni and Turnbull clothes, the Parker jotter, a Seamaster, and I also have some Old Navy and JC Penney clothes that I know are not of the same quality and weren't screen worn, but they have a similar stlye.

Not all of us are driving Aston Martins and wearing tuxes everyday, but I think that everyone who comes here has an excellant sense of style and is attempting to pull off some version of it on their own.

Let's start there before criticizing too harshly those who buy whatever Bond wears or (on the other end of the spectrum) those buying cheaper versions of it.

I'm not crazy about the look of these eccos, but I have some other ones and they are amazingly comfortable.

Just to clarify for me. Did he get dark brown (rust) or black?

    Black.

Yesterday I was at the shop and requested the exactly same model as handed to DC and received the model shown in the pictures above.

Thanks for the update. Also, thanks for your contribution to the Forum. Please feel free to contribute at any time and not to take comments from people too seriously. We have a wide range of 'characters' on the forum who are passionate about there hobby. But by and large, while spirited at times, they are a good bunch.

I have no problem with people wanting to buy the shoes IF they like them and will wear them. Having them in Bond doesn't hurt either because it adds a nice factor, but if you are strictly wearing them because they are in Bond, thats strange. That is like having someone else tell you what to wear. I think it is even better when people have to buy different versions or substitutes, because they have to use their own opinion and taste to make judgments, and that can help you develop a fashion sense for yourself, instead of saying "oh that was in Bond, so it must be good, let me buy it." What works for Craig as Bond might not work for you, but thats getting into a whole different argument about fashion. Just use some discretion.

I personally don't like the shoes and wont buy them but thats not the issue. If I see things in movies I like and would want to wear or use, I will consider buying it. The movie is just drawing my attention to it whereas I might not know the product is out there.

I take issue with people just buying things because they are in Bond. Thats not collecting. Thats an obsessive compulsion to buy.

NO MORE - KEEP IT TO PM IF YOU MUST KEEP THIS UP - Sir Miles.

    Back to topic please....

Come on guys. Let it go. I think we are at the point to drop the endless/useless debate of this issue (as that horse has been beated to death) and focus our attention on the shoe that Justin Time was kind enough to bring to our attention.

I agree that the off-topic comments appeared to be dying out, and please let's not get the fire going again, shall we?

This thread topic is ecco Berlin shoes in QoS. Please can we keep it that way?

I suggest that if someone has a comment that is off-topic, he or she ought to start a new thread. This is a pretty basic rule of forum conduct. After all, I am sure no one would like to be accused of hijacking, right?

On the topic, I've always heard great things about Ecco shoes (how comfortable they are). Since I walk about a mile to and from work every day in downtown DC, I am extremely interested any time I come across a pair of business shoes that are extremely comfortable or can withstand lots of walking. These Ecco Berlin shoes might be worth a look, in that case.

If my comments are going to be censored, it is only fair that Donald's comments are censored as well. That is hypocritical and a double standard if you do not.
It doesn't affect me Bondtoys, I am just trying to point out how ridiculous it is to buy things because they are solely in a movie. I am not the one wasting money on it, so it doesn't hurt me, but if someone is spending the money, it obviously affects them. This is a forum on collecting, so it is relevant.

You are correct that this thread in the forum falls under the collecting category. However, the topic currently being discussed is specifically "DC wears ecco Berlin shoes in Qos." Therefore, if you wish to discuss something other than this topic, I don't have a problem with that. However, the only appropriate place to do so is in some other thread. Please let's everyone try to keep our comments on the topic. Moderator, is this thread being hijacked? If so, what can be done about it?

    Now, back to the topic:
Does anyone have any idea how this shoe would respond to inclement weather?

    Thanks Justin Time.

As I am not a wearer of Black shoes, I will probably look at the Rust(brown). While not the same as that worn in QoS, it fits my syle better.

And, if the need arises in future, they will be - but I may be a hypocrite with double standards all the same ;)

Although it seems that Donald Grant has decided to to either 'step back' from this thread or 'only contribute' when he has something of value to add - a sure sign of a gentleman.

Please, no more MisterMan57, unless it's of value to the thread.

    Hi there David,

My wife is Italy right now and will be returning this Sunday. She managed to track down the correct pair of Ecco shoes. Apparently there are two versions of the same shoe, one European, the other in US. The Ecco stores in the US will not carry the European model. Though smiliar both pairs differ. She picked me up a pair, do you want her to get you one aswell?
$135 Euro's plus shipping. Let me know if you are interested, I will see if I can post some pictures of the shoe.

    Let me know at msdhills@hotmail.com
    All the best,
    Stefan

I may have tracked down the correct shoe for less than 135 Euros (approximately $212 U.S.) Here's the link:

    http://www.shoebuy.com/ecco-berlin-plain-toe-tie/218353/474396

I lined up the picture from the link to the one provided from the ecco.com website and its identical, but this one I found even has the logo in the correct location. I'm considering buying a pair asap and just wanted to let you other guys know.

An absolutely dreadful looking shoe - what was DC thinking? Didn't much pre-planning go into what he was supplied with by the Costume Team?

Very reasonably priced, though, compared with the Lobbs and Churchs of recent years.

That said, I'm not sure I'd even be prepared to take advantage of the price and wear at work. They seem the kind of shoes that just say "shabby" and "couldn't care" about the whole outfit!X-(

I saw them in a local Ecco shop. But I wonder whether they are the right model. They told me in the store that these were from the casual line and not the business line as it is shown in their website.

I'm going to hold out on purchasing them until I can at least get some more substantial evidence they were used in QOS. I wish the costume/wardrobe department would just release an article naming everything used for QOS. It would make my life so much easier, I'd most certainly even pay for that article, haha.

I believe Amazon.com has the correct shoe. Look for the ECCO Men's Berlin Gore-Tex Oxford. The pictures of the shoe on their site exactly matches the photos that Justin Time has already posted. The hint is also that the shoes Daniel Craig chose are waterproof.
