Welcome back ladies, indeed the "cooler" has seemed more solitary ( McQueen in great escape comes to mind) without you....

If your struggling with the visual, imagine your only company is a german with pictures of frau's in leather and you'll understand my predicament...

Lexi - good to have those pins back and guess you've missed the oscars.....

Alessandra - glad ,my guess was correct, but now u have to reveal more :)
As discussed above, my two-tonic friends taste in frau's needs no further discussion - as we English say of our german friends- don't mention the whore....

I too loved reese and sandy - and agree halle looked good in her marchesa ....
And of hathaway's quick-fits I only liked the final "tron-like " outfit but boy it redeemed...

And u didn't mention our gal Jennifer's gown - not as stunning as the one above but still delicious ....and to think she was nominated!

What was your disaster of the night?

Mine won't count as I'm a guy but if I were to propose it would have to be Anne Hathaway gagging as she explained what a dream it was to be there....
Oh and her second blue quick fit tyre.....

Anyway as said on another thread lexi, so pleased for our boy corbould who continually proves CGI is for talentless computer nerds who have little imagination and Never watched blue Peter as a kid!

hey Paul. You admit, that you also took a peek or two.

I have visions of Alessandra in that outfit....... yummy! :D

It is vulgar, or rather, flat-out slutty, cheap, and underlines ALL the faults of that "woman's" body. :o How can one even think about something like that? :o Not on the red carpet... in a whole life, period! :))

Is there someone a little bit jealous by the fact, that she did not discover that piece of art for herself :D

You're right, Lexi, you don't want to know. :))

I may be destroying an image here but my wall was covered with posters from Status Quo (anybody over 40 remembers??) and the bravest one was Samantha Fox, all strategic parts well covered....

Thank you for posting - I have to say, when I saw your name at the watercooler, I thought "Now, now, what is The Mantis doing here" :))

That, I have to say, is one of the many reasons I love DC - that takes guts.

As for the message at hand, yes, I agree with most of what Dame Judy says - I can't help but think that being a woman has it's benefits. We can get away with allsorts - and a smile can work wonders.....

Plus, we will always be a mystery to men....and we can multitask.... not forgetting the biggest privilege of all - the gift of producing children.

Would I like equality? Of course.... but it's a little while coming, however in the meantime, I am happy to accept a seat on a train, and enjoy dinner to the expense of my date. ;)

And to put the nail in the coffin (or some such) of the Fassbender discussion:

"In an amusing story related by Mia Wasikowska, every time actor Michael Fassbender got up on his horse during filming of the upcoming "Jane Eyre", said horse would suddenly sprout an erection during both rehearsals and the day of filming..." :o :D

Look what happens if the kids are left alone to play... :o

Samantha Fox? REALLY!!! Seriously? The opposite of Bond girl class and style. Thank God for Sir Miles's intervention there :)) And no, I have absolutely nothing in common with her :)) I DO remember her well from the 80s, and her songs (well, if they can so be defined? :)) ). Now what is it with that horrific snake image! Ew!! :)) I also do remember Status Quo. They had a song or something in the 80s, too. You'd be amazed at the quantity of music I am familiar with... my friends call me a walking juke-box (and I know it's true... between having played the piano since age 5 and the fact music has always been a fundamental part of life here, I think I could win big money if they quizzed me on singing songs :)) )

Indeed quality never gets out of style. That I will always agree with! :D

Ahem. I thought Craig looked horrid in that drag, but there again he's not my type in regular clothes either, so... :)) I do agree with Dame Judi's message, that's for sure. But I think Lexi made VERY good points on why, while equality may be an important point, "non-equality" can also be an undoubted advantage! :D

Also... couldn't they have put Craig in a more decent dress? Horrible, horrible dress! Not even a grandma dress, just a bad one! :)) It's bad enough to be in drag, just give him a nice dress! :)) He needs Pam Bouvier as a consultant. :D

Blue: OMG! :o That story :))

And, Mr The Mantis (I say Mr because we're not acquainted and you're a Quartermaster, I feel like the Director has entered the room :)) Nice to "meet" you), you are allowed to play in here whenever you feel like it, of course. :D
"Are we on coms?" (if you don't know where this is from... you've missed some really good stuff! :D)

I am definitely guilty for failing on british humor.

I personally found many other things huge on her :D, not particular the joke in her ;)

And I hope that Alessandra can forgive me. I was 13 then, so around 15 years ago ;) and my taste in women has improved ever since (hopefully).

Regarding Status Quo: Some people make substantial claims, that they have been playing the 3 same accords in all of their songs :D

And I agree Ale, if Daniel is going to wear a dress he should have at least made it a decent one !!

Reminds me if one of my favourite Lines (and bond girls)

James Bond: Weren't you a blonde when I came in?
    Tiffany Case: Could be.
James Bond: I tend to notice little things like that - whether a girl is a blonde or a brunette.
Tiffany Case: Which do you prefer?
James Bond: Well, as long as the collar and cuffs match...

Absolutely - although I thought he didn't look too bad as a blonde.... quite a striking jawline :))

:)) :)) Yes, I have to agree with you there - that dress was horrid - did nothing to his figure and the pattern was simply nasty ;)

And stuff Pam Bouvier - he needs us...... US I say :))

And as Ale says, The Mantis you are most welcome - anytime..... you do have the knowledge on the men’s style to say the least..... :D

    Interesting to see that clip of Craig is in almost every Forum on here..... and no doubt on every Bond Forum there is -{

Pen, you really are TOO MODEST! Let's not forget, a woman will always be a woman. A man in drag will never look as good in a dress as a woman does! :)) That's one of those privileges that non-equality gives us :))

I agree with Lady Rose on both Status Quo and Craig in drag. Man, that dress. Not up to our watercooler standards! And not up to Bond either. They should have put him in an Armani or a Valentino! :))

On a serious note, I also think that they really should have avoided that drag number because IMO it made the whole thing look superficial/silly. I believe they would have carried out the message way more seriously and effectively had Bond just been himself. Regardless of what this does to the character of Bond, I just think it was a wrong way to carry out a message of equality. In fact, nobody is talking about women's equality rights, and everyone is talking about the drag, inevitable result when you do something like that.

This said... really, that dress needs our intervention :)) And Lexi, OF COURSE DC needs US. I'd dare say YOU in particular, right? Surely your best girl sense and sensibility would serve in this case? First to pick the dress... and then to have Craig out of it in record time? :)) ;% Men after all aren't as crafty with dresses as we are :))

Totally agree with you on this. I suspect if you asked people why he was in drag in the first place, most would be not able to tell you. Stunts like that are great for grabbing the attention initially but maintaining the message often proves tricky.

Unfortunately that's exactly the problem with stunts... they grab attention but they lack substance. The debate on what this does to Bond's character is not for this thread, but really on the mere part of women's rights I thought it was really poorly handled. And I do not like the fact that M seems to humiliate Bond either. That is not equality, that's a woman behaving just as badly as men do when they bully or discriminate women.

All the above said, something must be done about that dress. What the HELL goes on in the head of costume designers for Bond? Not only I haven't liked HIS attires at all in the past two movies, but also Bond girls have been sorely lacking in elegance, class and refinement. And Bond in drag, well, the least he should wear is Armani Privé! :)) That dress looked like something taken from a market stand in the pile of 3 for 20 euros deals. :))

While I hated the video I loved the thust of the campaign...

That said ale brings up the knub of the issue -positive discrimination is as bad as negative discrimination and stats prove nothing.... Only education that breeds balanced viewpoint and the behaviour of gentle -men and -women can ever resolve these genuine issues and it will take time.

So back to dresses....loved the 3for 20 euro image....

But ale so down on ALL the dresses? Even in CR?

    Vespers casino gowns ?
And of course caterina Munro would look desirable in a curtain replete with pole, but that red dress is surely worthy of Chris deburghs lyrics no?
And again olga the same curtain, but that little black dress surely tilted the stereo type a little

Granted jasper conran is a pleb and poor fields.....hardly worthy of the plough in that horror ("but I've nothing to wear...." yes so that piece of nothing is all u have to wear...) :s

Sadly totally spot on lady Rose

I'll leave it to others in the ad game to explain but it always seems to me that PR means Proved Right by being Pretty Ridiculous....

Be certain that this stunt will be remembered by our soundbite generation for years to come and codifies dc's credentials on the topic, no mean feat and never without worth if we re-enter the mccarthist genre of trial by media on this most awkward of subjects...
