Mr. Kidd did not necessarily die in DAF. Did he or could he return in some form?

Okay, Mr Kidd PROBABLY died in DAF. He was burned and jumped over the rail of the ship. But it could easily be conjectured that that he survived, and might look to exact revenge on Bond.

I am wondering... Did Kidd return in a novel after that movie?

The novel and the film are very different: in the book Bond shoots both Wint and Kidd to death, so there were no returns. In fact, an interesting bit of narration comes when Bond reads in Kidd's dead eyes, "Mister. Nothing is forever. Only death is permanent. Nothing is forever except what you did to me."

As for Kidd in the movie, assuming he survived the flames, I think it might be hard to stay alive in the middle of the ocean. (I'm thinking of Mark Wahlberg's last scene in The Perfect Storm.) And, now, nearly forty years after the fact, I don't think many people are pining for Kidd or Wint's return--and in our politically correct times I doubt we could portray them the way they did in 1971!

Ah yes, Mr Wint and Mr Kidd, two of my favourite villains!

I'm sure that it is intended that Kidd died after jumping into the sea, BUT, he could easily have survived had he swam ashore, it's all a bit skeptical!

Putter Smith is alive and well, prehaps he could return in DC's third film as the head of "?", Bald head, scarred face and hands ......

hmmmm, sounds a bit familiar though.

I suppose he had a small chance of surviving. But so did many Bond villains (Stromberg could've worn a bullet-proof jacket, faked his death, and escaped via another escape pod)

I love Wint and Kidd too, though I figure that's pretty obvious. :D

It is an interesting thought to consider Kidd badly scarred from the flames seeking revenge against Bond for the death of his boyfriend. However I think we're meant to take it for granted that he either burnt to death or eventually perished through drowning due to pain and exhaustion, even if he could swim. I wonder if he may even have been blinded since the fire was all over his face and melted his glasses too?

Far too much time has passed to bring him back as Hardyboy has said and in any case now it's completely pointless since the series has been rebooted. Two of the best classic Bond villains who will always be well remembered though certainly.

Um, sorry ... but I hope not. Just not a big fan of DAF (the movie), or the villains from it.

The book, now that's another matter .. that's a good read.

It's possible Kidd survived and bides his time on a remote island with Wilson the volleyball.

    Bond better watch his back.

Perhaps he could make a dramatic Come back in Skyfall. :))
after all Revenge is best served Cold, or with a small side salad and light vinaigrette.
Or because of the reboot, his first adventure with Bond never happened, OH! the Paradox !

Mr Kidd has already 'returned in some form'.

He was reincarnated as a pigeon and makes his appearance in MR, where he does a doubletake on seeing Bond again. Sadly, a scene where Kidd gets his revenge and poops on his nemesis was cut from the film, as Lewis Gilbert certainly doesn't relate in the director's cut.
