No movie tie-in to go with this film? That's the first in a long time isn't it? Obv the CR was Fleming's.

Thanks for the correction! And yes,of course-it's an enormous coincidence that this new book is titled Quantum of Solace....;)
But seriously,I kind of miss those official 007 novelizations-regardless of their qualities.I think Wood did a stellar job with his tie-in books, and Gardner and Benson did pretty well with their respective novelizations, too.
Indeed, especially since the novelizations were usually based on early draft screenplays and so you got some interesting variations on the stories. That said, I guess I can't complain too much about the QoS collection--at least it will get people reading Fleming!
As for movie novelistions, I thought these stopped after TND? Where there novels for TWINE and DAD by Benson too?
Oops, yes. Just looked Benson up on Wikipedia, and I note that he wrote DAD and TWINE. Sorry folkes. I guess that the powers that be don't want a QoS novel because they want to concentrate the literary 007 on Devil May Care and the short story collection.
Just the short stories, Dan.
Check at Borders, they seem to be good at importing obscure books.
I read the novelizations of DAD and TWINE, they were pretty average. Certainly rent not buy quality
I can remember being in a CVS drug store in upstate New York and finding a copy of the Casino Royale paperback on the book shelf, with a tag on the back cover saying "See the Movie on the big screen from MGM" or words to that affect.
I have in the past gotten the film tie in novels, I find them interesting to read many times they are based on early versions of the script and allow you a different view of how the film mite have played out. The Licence To Kill novel was a real surprise the backstories of Felix Leighter and Franz Sanchez were more fleshed out and John Gardner also did a much better job with detaling Bond's desire for revenge than the final cut of the film did.
In the long run I agree if want to be surprised than give the novels a pass, a leased til after viewing the film.
