Red Grants garotte watch

JamsterJamster ukPosts: 54MI6 Agent
Hi All

Been browsing for a few weeks, and after seeing Scaramangasgoldengun's excellent website kinda rekindled my love of Bond and inspired me to make a few props, so made a co2 gas cartridge and a Red Grant garotte watch. The watch features a working watch together with a .54mm steel cable all in a custom made housing.
Lemme know what you think.

Cheers

Jamie

And a vid of it working

I loved the garote watch as a gadget very dangerous and cool .. very early Bond,...

The garotte watch was in fact a real device used by spys and commandos during World War 2 it was developed in the war offices bothe in Britain and the USA. I have yet to see a real working one like one from WWII... The only ones I have seen are my own replica and Jamster's and a friend of mines has a nice replica also... O yes and Ed. M has made one..

Jamster what can I say absolutely fantastic work and I am so Glad you have joined the forums. Thanks for your comments about my website ..

HONESTLY I love your garotte watch.. very very cool and screen accurate... also the Shark bullet is very cool .. I have always been meaning to make one of those but never gotten around to it.

10/10 work Jamster... top notch stuff

    Hey thanks!!
Sorry about the dirty hands in the vid, I just took that to send to a few friends and hadnt intended to post it on you tube.
As Donald Grant aka GBOOTHROYD pointed out on the rpf it has some accuracies but also a number of inaccuracies, the next one will be better.
Id like to do the buzzsaw watch to go with the shark bullet as someone else on this site did at some point. Anyone know where I can get a cheap rolex??

A cheap Rolex is a contradiction in terms, but you might be able to get a case and enough pieces from ebay, guarenteed it won't be cheap anywayyou do it.

Beware - don't mention the "knock off" watches on this site, that's one way to raise the hackles of ajb'ers!

    ;)

    LOL good one

well all I can say is look at the rolex on my site ..... I got it in Turkey for 50 euros

am saying nothing more on the Matter of the watch

    LOL

No point in spending top dollar for an item your going to take apart and modify

I would love to see a Buzz SAW WATCH from you ... going by the grant watch it should be fantastic ...

It was Leo (037) who made the working replica... top work Leo .. there is a video also of it on youtube...

I was actually going to buy a big lot of the Rolex watches from Turkey ... as I say they are fantastic for 50 euros and the kind of price you want to be paying for something you are going to modify ,, I would'nt even dream of touching a real Omeaga Seamaster or Rolex with a rotary tool :))

Bondlover, someone already has first refusal should I sell the watch, but I am working on a couple of variations. Will make some posts on the construction of the first one and the new ones.

Rather than replica watches, it's not hard to ring "homage" submariners on eBay ver similar to rolex 5513s. Try tiger concepts. They are out of Hong Kong and do a great version of a rolex for about 125. You can either get it sterile with a blank dial or with their own branding. While they copy a rolex very well, they do not and will not put rolex on it.

A much better way to be screen accurate on a budget without supporting fakes.
