So many wonderful TV themes I could be here all night. I will stick to one theme and start at the beginning. As a young boy I was heavily influenced by Gerry Anderson's puppet shows, none more so than Thunderbirds. Not only were they great shows to watch but they also had great theme tunes. I love them all to this day.

Ok, It would take forever for me to create links to all mine in Youtube (I collect themes on my MP3 player,) but here is the gist!
Casualty
Dr Who 2004-5 version (David Tennant era)
Stargate SG1
Stargate Atlantis
Star Trek TNG
Miss Marple (Joan Hickson version)
Poirot
The West Wing
Thunderbirds TMC (My own recut of Thunderbirds!)
Taggart 2007? Version
Knight Rider
Terrahawks (Orchestral Version)
Juliet Bravo
Seaquest DSV
Babylon 5 (season 5 version)
MacGyver
Diagnosis Murder
Automan
The Tudors
The Big Bang Theory
As well as a few of those already mentioned.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
Here are some more of my favourite TV themes. This time it is science fiction. The original Doctor Who theme is an absolute classic, literally years ahead of it's time. Other big favourite's include two entirely different but great theme tunes from Space 1999. A wonderfully haunting closing to UFO and a great opening from the Planet of the Apes.
Guessing that's the instrumental version. I just literally mentioned in the 'What song...' thread that I miss Glasgow when it was a little rougher and still had it's No Mean City tag, and that's what the lyrics to the original theme were based on.
...and still makes me laugh Supergran. She's a serious granny!
And while I'm not from Southampton, I am from a town big on it's sailing, so this often gets quoted around here as I know some characters who could fit into this easily... Howard's Way and it's jazzier end title
Tales of The Unexpected, Return of The Saint and Department S are all great TV themes.
Here are two more of my favourites. Edward Woodward is/was one of my favourite actors and he made his name in Callan. The Persuaders is perhaps my favourite TV series of all, definitely a sentimental favourite. The wonderful theme tune was written by the late great John Barry.
Moving away from drama toward history and current affairs. Simon Schama's History of Britain was a great historical series and had a great opening title sequence. World in Action was a long running current affairs programme that had a dramatic opening theme.
I'm on my phone, so struggling to post links. However ones that spring to mind include:
The Professionals
Dallas
Dukes Of Hazzard
Murder One (great series if you get chance to get hold of the DVDs)
Baywatch
Mr Benn (iconic kids cartoon series)
The Fall Guy
Howard's Way
Secret Army (superb series)
Here are two of my favourite sporting themes. With the US Masters now underway it seems appropriate to choose the BBC's classic golf theme. And also from the BBC, the classic Formula One Grand Prix theme taken from Fleetwood Mac's The Chain.
Long before The West Wing, there was the British political drama trilogy The House of Cards, with the magnificent Ian Richardson as the scheming, machiavellian Prime Minister Francis Urquhart (FU, to his friends!)
Used to herald the end of the schoolweek... Blockbusters
The big American melodramas sure were crap, but they had brilliant themes...
Two more favourite's, this time with an astronomical theme. Carl Sagan's series on the Cosmos had a wonderful introduction from Vangelis. I believe The Sky At Night is currently the longest running tv programme in the world with the same presenter. Just celebrating 55 years and Patrick Moore has been there from the start, a remarkable achievement. The classic theme is taken from Sibelius' At The Castle Gate.
Two great themes from series starring Robert Vaughn. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. theme from Jerry Goldsmith arranged by Nelson Riddle. And The Protectors taken from Tony Christie's Avenues and Alleyways. Also starred the delightful Nyree Dawn Porter.
Two of my favourite cartoon themes/series from around the early 1990's. I remember watching them often in the early evening after I got from work. A great way to unwind.
This has to be one of the best opening themes/sequences of all. A great piece of music from Stewart Copeland, best known as the drummer of The Police. The series starred the late great Edward Woodward.
