It's not as bad as people often make out. The Bond films are always going to be a subject where someone isn't satisfied because one film is so different from the next. The idea of Bond going into space must have been an irresistable idea at the time. This was the late-70s space-mania begun of course by Star Wars, but if MR would ever be re-made, I wouldn't see anything tame about going back to the original 1955 story with the rocket. On the opposite end of the scale, it could be more like Armageddon and less like Star Wars.

If I want to laugh and smile, I'll watch a comedy. Bond movies should have never become the farces they did. They were originally designed as adult entertainment, and their descent into the stupidity that began with YOLT is a huge mistake. What if they embraced another trend and had Bond fighting vampires? Would that be acceptable? Sorry, but there is nothing admirable about MR as a Bond movie and even less as a pale barnacle to the Star Wars craze.
