Oliver Peoples- Never contracted to design or use "Airman" in QoS nor did the frames theselves ever appear on set or bought as a model for the TF 108 19v
Tom Ford- contracted to design the clothing (every single piece) as well as eyewear at the suggestion of Daniel Craig. There was even trade announcments of this contract (in May) long before this thread or many others began and before footage of the film had been released
OP "Airman" discontinued and to those in the eyewear industry (clearly those posting on here have a vested interest in the industry) have noticable differences to the offical frames used in the film that inclued front shape of the frame, less tear drop than the Fords, shorter temples, rubberized temple tips, polarized lens, different colored lenses and frames
TF 108 "James Bond 007"- designed by Tom Ford for Daniel Craigs face. produced in Italy by MARCOLIN (why Marchons name even ended up on here is absurd they have nothing to do with this) The frame itself is not titainum or flexon material, but is a regular metal aviator (why people choose to knock metal frames when millions are produced each year by every comany is beyond me)with a plastic blue lens. The frame itself carries very subtle Tom Ford detailing such as a metal T on the temple and the Tom Ford logo oval on the LEATHER temple tip, shorter temples and a more tear droped front and noticably longer bridge than the Airman.
Quantum Solace- Every single shot you see of DC in this film wearing sunglasses is a shot of him wearing Tom Ford, not OP. No scenes were re-shot and the reason it is hard to tell the different is what makes Tom Ford and Oliver Peoples great brands- there is no overtly visible logoing unless u get the cramera in HD digital and put it right up to them
Branding- every brand has something on their frames that signifies product Op and TF have their signatures and when u watch QoS you will never be able to tell they are TF even with the name on the lens, also the temple tips that are the major diff between the two frames is covered behind his ears and hair (no jumping to conclusions and getting upset when you are wrong- everyone does it, next time confirm with credible sources before you say that something is to be worn in a film) Also the inside is inscribed with "James Bond 007" on the temple as part of a way to name the frame, you would never see that be an issue on film and if he were to wear Persol, OP or anyone else their name of the frame would be on the interior as well.
Price- The North American price for the TF 108 is $380 plus tax, sorry if some stores are uping the price but thats what a free market is for, which makes the TF cheaper than the OP. if you are collector you should never mind prices, James Bond has never been about the cheap toys and gadgets and cars and clothes anyways
That should end any confusion between the two i know most of this wqs covered (sorry) but its good to have it all on one post instead of 8 diff ones.
{[] 3 false statements in 2 sentences, very impressive!
I think, that there is not the slightest doubt about the screen-used sunglasses in QoS: Tom Ford!
And Ian Fleming never mentioned the sunglasses of James Bond's choice, not Persol, and not OP.
And I strongly doubt, that the literary James Bond today would wear sunglasses from a US celebrity brand.
Infact, OP has been founded in 1986, long after IF died in 1964.

"I think, that there is not the slightest doubt about the screen-used sunglasses in QoS: Tom Ford!"
I never said there was, read my post properly.
"And Ian Fleming never mentioned the sunglasses of James Bond's choice, not Persol, and not OP"
Never said Fleming had, i was talking hypothetically. Both are well made, stylish and
not overpriced due to some designer name being stamped on them, surely that would count them in as a potential brand that Bond would consider.
And I strongly doubt, that the literary James Bond today would wear sunglasses from a US celebrity brand.
As for the copyright discussions: If I were defending Tom Ford, I'd use these 2 images and ask, if these similarities are not common in this kind of industry:

I'm with Bondtoys - I think people who regard the TF's as copies aren't really knowledgeable about sunglasses - EVERY company has copied the Wayfarer, and even call them "Wayfarer styled" in some cases. I mean, the TF's ARE copies, but that is par for the course in the sunglasses biz.
I know this is a bit late, but just to try and stop arguments here, the Tom Fords are the pair used in the movie, but they are exactly the same as the oliver peoples, so no matter which pair you get, people will not be able to tell the difference.
Looking at the movie you can clearly see in some scenes that the colour of the lenses are as per TFs i.e. dark blue and not dark gray as claimed for OPs. I am getting more an more sure that they had TFs for filming.
These Oliver Peoples speculations have been set dead for a very long time as there was no substance. And I don't think that even Adam Simmonds keeps on telling his story anymore, that the sunglasses in QoS are from Oliver Peoples.

I have tried to capture the main differences between them and the OP Airman besides of the obvious differences (which are matt frame, leather earpieces, TF branding in the lens and arm).

I am waiting to see how this plays out, Bondtoys, though a this stage I would agree your hand seems to contain a few aces...
My only observation on the Sunglasses Shop ad is that the Ford's include "a customized Tom Ford James Bond 007 logo"... and that in another post it is accepted that Sunspel supplied polo's which Ford's copied for the film...
By the way, I am still waiting for an apology... {:)
It seems, that some people enjoy more the attack though...

Gloating's not a particularly endearing feature is it?
And I'd thought I'd made it clear I accept that Craig wore TF not OPs after all? Those TF's which are now available are those that are screen worn - with your very own James Bond logo on them, just as the man himself.
I am far more interested in the OP style, but the Tom Ford's have of course the screen use advantage. It's been too long now though. I'll just jump on board for the next film. I really hope they don't allow one designer to do everything though. I think it goes away from the fun and believability. I like the idea of Bond picking some great brands to use since they are known as the best in their trade, but he did look nice in all Tom Ford.

We'll see, but it does look like TF will do a lot of things.
So can anyone confirm that OP Airman are now impossible to find? Or it's still possible? I tried eBay Canada and found nothing... Tried online without any results...

Back during the big rush to get the Airman, I believe the common suggestion was to just call the Oliver Peoples boutiques. I think New York and LA were brought up as places that can help locate them if they are still in the hands of OP or service them if you ever find a pair.
They pop up every now and then - they are not ultra rare by any means just keep checking eBay US etc (I got a unused pair for around $150 last year)
I'll be on the look out. Thanks!
If I call the boutiques : a) are they still being made? b) what is the retail price? probably 350$, no? Oliver People are supposed to be expensive.
They are no longer in production, and it is very likely that they still cost full retail price if OP manages to locate a pair somewhere. I forget the exact number, but I think it may have been mentioned earlier in the thread.

Maybe these were the ones sported in the film, but i think we know that Fleming's Bond would have worn OP or Persols.

TF are not polished, the lens colour is slightly different as is the size and the shape of the lenses (very slightly), the hinges and the end tips.
And as mentioned before, the frame and lens materials are also different.

An endearing feature would be to stand your man and apologize, especially after all, what has said and done.
Trying to bend again the facts into your very own perspective sounds very AS-ish to me.
