Well Quantum of Solace The Game is almost here, the cover art is available and it's listed on Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com so everything is gearing up for a massive tie-in release.

There's a few topics about the specifics of the game but this is for general chat on the title. Are you looking forward to it? What do you hope it will achieve? Are you a gamer, or a Bond gamer?

The official game website is packed full of video and images from the game so go and take a look then come back here and let everyone know what you think.

I will get the game, I have played all the Bond games on one platform or another. Wish they hadn't used Craig, but that is my issue. I am hoping for an improvement over the last couple Bond games EA did, that weren't very good.

I'm curious about the game as well but there are some areas that give me concern. I am really disappointed that there will be no driving levels. Likewise, there has been no mention of any in-game gadgets yet.

One of the strengths of EA's better Bond games like Agent Under Fire, Nightfire and especially Everything or Nothing was that they mixed the gameplay styles from level to level and that kept the experience fresh. If this new game ends up being 100% first person gunplay it could get very repetitive very quickly.

As such, I will probably wait for some reviews and user feedback before taking the plunge.

All I know is I think that if they are going to make something better then goldeneye it shouldnt be hard. Everyone thinks that what will make the game, but taking goldeneye and slapping better graphics on it will not be enough for me. I believe they should put a lot of pistols in the game since you are a spy and you wont be walking around with assualt rifles everywhere. Ofcourse the p99, and I saw some silver gun looked like a colt. I do believe they should put in the FN five-seven it is a highly conceallable weapon and shoots 20 rounds of 223.s which would be perfect for an assassin. I also think the golden gun would be cool and maybe a glock and definatly the heckler and cotch usp (compact) because thats also a perfect assassin gun. As far as rifles as long as theres an AK an M4A1 with a reflective site instead of some lame handel im happy. Gameplay I expect more then just call of duty 4 and rainbow six vegas combined. I want to see what those games didnt do. Like add some sick hand to hand combat animations also knives. And I swear I will die if they dont do throwing knives and things that were in goldeneye and then call the game goldeneye cause that kinda stuff is what made goldeneye and its originality which ofcourse they can never beat.

anyone know if the wii version will have worse graphics?

The specs on the Wii just aren't that powerful compared to a 360, PS3 or high-end PC; as such, I would expect the Wii version to have the poorest graphics of the bunch.

I would also expect the gameplay to be different as well, so to accomodate the console's different control scheme. Typically the number of enemies you face and their placement and AI is often simplified for Wii games.

When a game is released on many consoles, the Wii version often ends up being a port of the PS2 version and that's usually not a good thing since the PS2 is very old technology. That's what happened with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - with many reviewers complaining that it looked like a PS2 game - and I wouldn't be surprised if we get the same thing here.

There's a (very short) 700meg demo for the PC version out now. Have yet to play it, but apparently it takes about 3 minutes to finish...

I'll probably buy it for my 360, but I do wonder how long the entire game will be. Seems they get shorter and shorter these days, with the multiplayer component of a new game only being popular for about a month; after that, no one plays (except for big releases like Halo3, GTA4 etc.)

Also, anyone notice which watch bond is wearing in the game? From some screenshots, it looks like it's the black 'bond' seamaster (non-PO), as it looks to have a black bezel and the blue bond bracelet.

EDIT: Just played the demo. It's clearly the blue bond SMP.

Also, seems there's a bunch of music, either from just the demo or the whole game, in a file called 'bxpack001.bin'. It seems to be a sound file that, if played about half way through, has a bunch of bond music.

Which console you got Si? I'm still using a PS2 so I know my version which I've pre-ordered will not be as good as the better consoles -but I'm still really excited about getting it. :)

It's XBox 360 (my brothers! He's the gamer.) it's good stuff so far, technically not allowed to say anything until next week though, having said that most of you will of played the demo I'm sure. It's good! It plays well and seems to have good game play and in game graphics. I like the title sequence too very Bond!

Anyway I'll have something more when we've spent time on it.

My brothers main concern with the game is that it's too confusing and you seem to jump from one thing tot he next with no explanation. He has yet to see Quantum of Solace which may well make it a bit more understandable.

He also commented that the online play is not all that great compared to games such as Call of Duty.

For anyone curious as to how the game is faring with videogame critics, here's the MetaCritic page. Just click on the version you're interested in and you'll get a summary for that platform and links to specific reviews.

As of October 31, the Xbox 360 version has gotten generally solid reviews in America while receiving lesser scores from the UK.

That is true although the game itself is great fun.
I completed it all on 'New Recruit' in 04:30. I'm now doing it again on 'Field Operative'.
    'Live' is excellent IMO

The US and UK branches of IGN have posted their reviews of Qos for the 360, giving it a 7.0 and 6.9 respectively. Links to the reviews are here QoS Review at IGN USA and here QoS Review at IGN UK.

They both call it an OK but somewhat uninspired game that, Bond license notwithstanding, just doesn't stand out enough from other FPS games on the market. The single player game is also ridiculously short and can be finished in 4-5 hours.

Given that I don't do much multiplayer at all, $60 US MSRP is way too much to ask for a 5 hour adventure. There are also way too many other games coming out this season and I don't think Activision was particularly smart in releasing this the same week as Microsoft's highly anticipated Gears of War 2.

I'll be waiting for a price drop on this one. Given the mediocre reviews and stiff competition, I don't think I'll have long to wait.

I'm still getting it - it sounds like it is the definition of a solid game - the only thing wrong with it being its length.
  • sharpshootersharpshooter Posts: 164MI6 Agent
I'm not put off by these negative reviews. I haven't bought a PS3 game in ages, and what better than a Bond game to break that drought. Sure, it may have some downsides, but so did some of EA's efforts, and I found redeeming features with those games.

That said, QoS the film is action heavy, and this isn't really translated into the game as much as it could be. The opening car chase, the boat sequence, the free-fall and the dogfight - all crying out for airtime in a video game, and all are absent. It can’t help but feel like a missed opportunity. It was a conscious decision by Activision to make a shooter blending two perspectives, but it would be a lot better game if these segments were used.

They could have given the game, which is incidentally called Quantum of Solace, a lot more airtime than just 4 levels. It should be called Casino Royale - with Quantum of Solace bonus levels. What segments they do use look good, however.

I'll be buying the PS3 collectors edition, and the packaging does look fantastic.

Does anybody else find the online play annoying? How you can look around corners without actually breaking cover?

It's a good game, I'm just not too fond of the online play. (I'm waiting for COD5!)

    :)

QOS looks pretty damn good compared to previous bond games. like many others im sure, i havent played a really great bond game since GoldenEye on 64 (now that was a great game) QOS certainly looks like really putting previous titles to shame with hopefully new gameplay, graphics etc. that will be brought along by the cod4 engine.

hey everyone, i had to wait till after i saw the movie to play the game, spoilers and all :P, but have to admit it's great fun! Although, i find some parts to be inaccurate to the films. I'd swear in Casino Royale Bond replaces a man named Beech, but in the game they refer to him as Bliss.....anyone else notice?

But solid graphics especially in HD! Great gameplay due to the COD engine, and good old bond fun i'd give it a 8.5

Pretty nice game, really sucks you in, but it's just too short (I'm not a very fanatical gamer and still finished it in 3 3 hour play sessions). Enjoyed the game better than I did the movie though.

No Bliss was who was originally in the game. Beech was Bonds original cover along with...Miss Stephanie Broadchest.

This is 003s son here i play bond games as well as other games but my concern for me since i do not own a next gen console is that the ps2 version does not have multiplayer so ill be missing out on that but, by far my favorite bond game i have played is agent under fire ( i do have a n64 but i cant find golden eye and the expansion so don't pick at me there). i haven't seen QoS yet but i hope too.
my dad preordered the game but still hasen't picked the game up yet. i hope he gets it soon.
