George Lazenby 'punched pregnant ex-wife and broke her nose while son was dying of cancer'

He may be my least favorite Bond, but I always thought he seemed like a decent guy. I didn't know about all his problems at home--it sounds like they are numerous...

I have been reading about this - It is very sad, Like you said he seems a decent guy, I liked him as James Bond and hoped he would do more, This may affect him going to signings aswell :#

I have read lots of things about his divorce, Him pointing a gun at his daughter all of them, Very Sad.

Sounds bad, though I should point out that you can always rely on the Daily Mail to deal with the nasty things of life. Same with the recent Connery slagging off.

Best to take this kind of news with "a grain of salt" .... If GL was up to this kind of activity it doesn't say much for his wife that she would put up with it for a few years.

Seems like both "Big Tam" and GL have issues to work out with regard to how to treat females. Prehaps they believe their own publicity. Both seem to like to punch the ladies in the face? Must be something "Freudian" in that.

What's next RM doing some IF style "spanking"!!!

    ;)

Just in case anyone's interested, women have been known to embellish, exaggerate and ....(GASP) lie, during divorce proceedings, especially high-profile ones. Lee Marvin's wife took him to the cleaners with her BS, and I've heard rumors one of the Beatles had troubles.

That's not rumours, that's peg leg and Macca. Jonathan Ross went on to say he wouldn't be surprised if it turned out she had two legs!

    Still, it's all very unedifying.

Sounds like she may have had 3, at one time! :v

Really, is this a surprise to anyone. I mean come on, what did you expect from the ****tiest bond in the world! What a ****ing satchel. I honestly can not understand how he has so many supporters when even he himself admitted that he had no talent or experience to play bond in the first place. George Lazenby acutally cried in the last scene of the movie and he had the arrogance to call Pierce Brosnan "feminine." It was only a matter of time before he beat someone weaker than him. He sure as hell isn't a big enough man to take his rage out on someone his own size.
PS As Pierce Brosnan already stated, and i quote, "George is just an angry ****ed-off guy. He was never an actor, but some ****ed-off aussie who doesn't know how to show his feminine side."

Thats one of the most ridiculous things I've read in a while. You do realise he was required to cry in that scene.

Sounds like you're letting dislike of George's Bond get to you ;)

Well, Woody, George and "Big Tam" all played "oo7" at one time. Seems that playing the role does affect the psyche. Might be worth a studious book?

Watch this clip and tell me you don't jump three feet back when Pierce starts singing. :)) Or shouting. I think it's shouting. Yes, it's shouting.

But back on topic. I really don't see what acting ability has to do with being a bad person. If that was the case Julian Sands would be a serial killer, but he's apparently a very nice bloke.

I've always been a supporter of Lazenby, but it does seem that he has serious form when it comes to being aggressive towards women. Mind you, his current wife is 6 foot tall, a former athlete and twenty years younger, so if he did have a go at her she could probably return serve with considerable force.

It seems like New Zealand and Australia has a habit of producing genuinely crazy movie actors with ill tempers. ;)

While George Lazenby's wife is on paper stronger than him, she was allegedly punched by Lazenby while being pregnant at the time. While a wife would lie about or overblow the nastiness of her husband in a divorce case, at the same time why would a daughter claim her father was for many years a unpredictable, hurtful brute towards her too?

George Lazenby seems a bigger douche than even Sir Sean Connery, I'm not surprised Pierce Brosnan has no time for him, and is a good reason why he didn't stay on after OHMSS. He had a potential to be a good James Bond though and I like OHMSS.

This is a little bit of a shock to me, but in other ways I wasn't too surprised. Anyone could be an abusive alcoholic. Lazenby seemed like a kind loving Bond in OHMSS, but people are a lot different in private life. I'm sure there are lots of people out there who seem nice, but when they get home, they abuse their wife and kids.

Much about Lazenby's private life is unknown. There's been lots of press on accusations that Lazenby beat his ex-wife, as well as press on him being a severe alcoholic. He also accused his ex-wife (Shriver) of abusing pills/alcohol and being violent as well.

Since there's not enough info, especially from reputable sources like BBC and CNN, I can't judge either way.

According to dailymail, he reconciled with Shriver in 2013, they're friends and Lazenby is allowed to drink.

Lazenby was supposed to have an autobiography out last year called "The Other Fella". IMDb says that there will be a documentary narrated by Lazenby himself, in 2015, to "set the record straight". There's no major sources like BBC or CNN, but this is the little info we have.

I'd certainly like to hear his story.
