Where will you see QoS?

Napoleon PluralNapoleon Plural LondonPosts: 10,467MI6 Agent
For Londoners, Odeon Leicester Square is the traditional choice. However, the 02 Vue in North Greenwich is actually a larger screen (Screen 11) and the stalls have a nice gradient allowing a good view of it, unlike in Odeon LS. So I might go there instead, though I doubt the atmosphere will be quite the same.

Other nifty London venues include Notting Hill Coronet, a really lovely old theatre with red seating and gilt. Sound quality not so great near the front though, as I found when I saw Indy IV there.

I will be going to the 12am showing the day before its release, I tried to for CR but it was fully booked. I will sleep in the day. I will see this in my local Cineworld - Cinema

The same place I've seen every Bond since LTK...The Showplace East 8, on Dirksen Parkway in Springfield, Illinois. It's a multiplex from the early '80s---a bit tired, now, but convenient to my home neighborhood...and, with the advent of newer cinemas with stadium seating, it's a buck or two cheaper than anywhere else in town showing new releases.

Plus, there are joints nearby who are more than capable of serving up a satisfactory vodka martini---a long-standing Opening Bond Day tradition...I suspect that my BonditicalTM party rival (and friend) Tee Hee will accompany the three Loeff boys...

I will be going to the Ashford Cineworld, where I saw CR, Daniel Craig in Flashbacks, and Hancock, (where obviously the trailer for QoS) I am getting a troupe of friends together (about 10 or so) and I can't wait...:007)

I am still trying to get tickets for the Premier in Leicester Square. However, having bought two for the Ian Fleming Tribute at the Palladium, I may save the pennies.

Assuming that I don't go to the premier, I will walk up to my local cinema - The Clapham Picture House. This is where I saw CR in 2006. A lovely cinema with a good sized screen, although not as big compared to O2 or Leicester Sq.

After this first screening I will doubltess go to Leicester Sq one Saturday and see it again! I intend to have seen QOS five times by Christmas!!!

I will try and go to the local premiere, as I have for the last few Bonds - it's normally on the Wednesday before the general release date.

Most likely the same place I went to see The Dark Knight It's a new 20 screen cinema (for you local to me, it's the Tanfran cinema) with all digital projection. I'll probably wait a week or two before I see it. I want to let the hype die down some.

I'm a bit bemused by this. It seems that many of you put sentiment over anything else, choosing the local fleapit over the big venues with the biggest screens! Fair enough, the Coronet link I posted has that atmosphere, but I'd have thought that for any Londoner it would have to be Odeon LS - and where I've seen all the Bonds bar LTK (when it came out when I was in the US and I saw it in Loez 34 Street [?})... Or the amazing Vue 02.

If any Londoners want me to email them a pic of the O2 (though it's very hi-res) you can PM me.

I will be seeing QOS at the Jam Factory; where I will be seeing it on a big screen. Ideally, I will be seeing it by myself at 9:30/10:00 (depending on the session time) on the Saturday night of the *first week of release. As I will be wanting to sit in the very centre of the cinema, I will undoubtfully have to book my ticket beforehand.

*In Australia films are released on a Thursday, however I dislike seeing films on opening day, for reasons that Tony can emphasise with. ;)

I usually get premiere seats and loads of popcorn to the cinema as I rarely go, I usually visit the 'comic book superhero summer blockbusters' but other than that barely ought (Except for 007 every 2 or 3 years of course -{)

Well, to clarify, it's the first showing in the local 'fleapit'...but the next two or three (or four or five) viewings tend to happen all over the place, as I meet up with various far-flung friends and relatives with divergent schedules and availabilities.

We've got a state-of-the-art 12-screen multiplex, on the Western-most (still developing) side of town, with stadium seating and all the proper accoutrements. I'm sure to see it at least once there as well.

This bemuses me too. I'd have thought the best part of a Bond is enjoying with an audience into the big atmosphere, laughing at jokes you might not otherwise notice. Maybe it's the influence of the DVD generation.

I know I like waiting a week or two because some people are downright rude. Cell phones are left on and usually ring, parents couldn't find a babysitter so they bring "Jr" with them and then let the audience babysit. I'll probably go to a mid-week showing, between 10am and 3pm, that way the high school kids are in school, the working people are working. I'll get the calm senior citizen crowd, they know how to enjoy a movie.

I'm with Mr Martini on this. :# Although my experiences are not as bad as Mr Martini's appear to be, I certainly do not enjoy seeing films with audiences as they do not know how to behave. :v

I recently saw Pineapple Express and there was a couple behind me who seemed to believe that repeating lines and laughing so loud that everybody can hear them is acceptable social behaviour. Additionally several people left and reentered the theatre several times, and so it was not a such an completely pleasant experience. When I saw The Dark Knight, it was even worst. :#

That's why I don't like to see films on opening day. However I can't wait longer than that, so I will be seeing QOS on the Saturday night of the week of release. I do this for all the films (Bond, Die Hard 4.0, Terminator 3, Scorsese films, Eastwood films etc...) that are truly important to me. :D

I've now seen it twice. ;) It's good, but not great. I like Seth Rogan alot (he makes up for Woody Allen :D), and the film is quite funny at times, but I don't think it is among Judd Apatow and co's best work.

Odeon West End, Leicester Square, London,
    FIRST PUBLIC SCREENING WORLDWIDE!!,
Oct 29th (minutes after the World Premiere starts)

    Failing that?, it'll instead be:

    Odeon Leicester Square, London,
    Oct 29th,
Midnight Screening (after the World Premiere)

If there isn't a midnight show?, then it'll have to be:

    Odeon Leicester Square,
    Oct 30th

    Mate, really? :o

Odeon West End isn't as grand as Leicester Square, though I think the screen will have a gradiant you'll get a better view of screen. I'd hold off for LS if I were you (though I'm not).

Yeah, it is a much lesser venue,
I've only ever been there ONCE - some 14 years ago!!,
it's more a case of the EARLIEST I can see the film

Although ,I have to admit, that I'm starting to have second thoughts about it?,
as I do want to be in the crowd outside in the Square, to (hopefully!) meet the Cast,
and I'm worried about be stuck in the crowd, and missing the beginning of the screening - it could be a bit tight for time?

I'm torn between my local arthouse cinema, the FACT, where I saw Casino Royale and which allows you to drink beer in the theatre... and the brand spanking new multiplex which opens in Liverpool city centre a couple of weeks before. I want to support the FACT, but I also want to get a gander at that brand new, state of the art Odeon...
